Ferrari is dominant in the session, and the Toyotas are flying! But...where BMW at?

The weather for this weekend is light showers. And i like ccx live near the circuit. (20 mins or so)

I dotn think you can base the race results on prac. times.

Sure they give you a good indication but i think the cars will be faster on pace in the race than in Friday sessions.

woo, hopefully it's gonna be another hamilton vs. ferrari clash and alonso will be stuck in the field again 👍

i am sure if hamilton wins i am gonna hear the cheers even here, far away from england, lol

It's qualifying time, and the weather looks great, light winds, and the track temp is already at 104 degrees (40c).

Would love to see Hamilton on poll and the reaction that will get from local fans. 👍

Is Dave Richards still making his announcement as to Prodrive's plans for next year?

I have to admit, it's what I'm hanging out for the most the weekend. New teams and races always get the interest going for me (and I'm paying the sport more attention than ever before ...).

Get in Lewis!! Thought Kimi had it in the bag there when he made that big mistake but still got ahead of Alonso, but a mighty lap by Lewis Hamilton

Haha, I was literally shouting "COME ON!" at the TV when Hamilton exited the last corner. Quite unexpected!

Hamilton takes pole!!!! 👍👍

What a exciting last Q3 laps from the both Ferrari & McLaren drivers!

First Alonso posting a 1:20.147, Masa followed nearly beating him but crossed the line .119 seconds slower, then Kimi taking pole away from Alonso by just .048 seconds, and then Hamilton followed to take pole away from Kimi by just .101 seconds!

From best to worst, the difference between the ten drivers in Q3 was only 1.243 seconds.

That was one of the most competitive Q3 sessions of the season!

Kudos to Schumacher as well for not only making it to Q3 but taking P6 and only .5 seconds behind Hamilton.

With this many front runners posting such close times, the start should be very interesting!

This is Kimi fans getting owned:

MSN
Blake says:
That's a good S2, we've got it I hope...
Pascal says:
YES
Blake says:
Wooooooooo!
Pascal says:
booyeah
even going wide on the final
uh
...
Blake says:
Oh dear...
Pascal says:
weak.

Still, going on practice form I’m pretty confident that Lewis is lighter than the guys behind him. That said, it’s incredibly tight at the top, the top 5 are covered by less than half a second. For sure it will be a very interesting race, and at a track like Silverstone I’m hoping to see some good battles.

That was a good qulifying performance from Hamilton. I thought Kimi had it and possibly he would've without that wheel on the dirt.
It may be that Hamilton's lighter. But being at the front will hopefully mean he'll get a lead before pitting in. My only concern is the start tomorrow. The Ferraris seem to have better starts so I wonder if Hamilton will lose his pole position from the line.
Incidentally is pole at Silverstone on the left or the right of the grid? I'm assuming it's the left.

Rain 'eh?

Go countersteer.

Is it me, or is Drifting starting to catch on around the world? heehee:dopey: BTW, did the driver get the car going in the right direction, or did it spin out on him?

Ok its an American site but i may go with this.

But then...

They differ.
Break out the banjos!;)

As for me - and all those who'll be watching the race in the US - I'll be seeing this race on tape delay tomorrow afternoon. Here's hoping the race tomorrow will be as exciting as the qualifying today!:D

Oh no, he lost that one. Big time. But the picture does look cool. ;)

Actually it’s pretty rare to get a nice picture of a car at opposite lock these days.

Kudos to the photographer who took that picture then. ;)👍

I can tell its getting close.

The full red arrows squad just flew past my window rather low.

What a sight!

And they're off:

Bad luck for Masa having to start from the pit exit after stalling the engine, otherwise it was a rather uneventful start.

Masa is doing a really good job going through the field though, but any chance for a podium finish is pretty much out of reach.

Alonso isn't really challenging either Kimi or Hamilton. Kimi in the soft tires posted the fastest lap (1:21.845), but Hamilton appears light on fuel and Kimi is unable to get past him.

EDIT: Masa has now passed 10 cars in as many laps!!! Despite the traffic, he has posted the fastest lap time of 1:21.266

EDIT (lap 20):

Masa is now in 2nd (but hasn't pitted yet) He also posted a new fastest lap time of 1:21.106, but Kimi just beat that with a blistering lap of 1:20.638 after he took the lead from Hamilton when he pitted on lap 15.

Alonso took the lead when Kimi pitted on lap 18, and managed to keep it with a very fast stop on lap 20!

The top 10 running order after stops is:

Alonso
Kimi
Hamilton
Kubica
Heidfeld
Fisichela
Massa
Couthard
Kovalanian
Speed

Schumacher has fallen all the way back to 18th!

Lap 45 (15 left):

Kimi posted some really fast laps after Alonso pitted on lap 37, which allowed him to keep the lead after his final stop on lap 44... but why did Kimi switch to hards??? This could get interesting now that Alonso switched to softs.

Top 10 Running order:

0.00 Kimi
03.2 Alonso
22.7 Massa (but has another pit coming)
30.3 Hamilton
65.2 Kubica
69.2 Heidfeld
88.3 Kovalainen
__1L Fischela
__1L Barrichello
__1L Button

Davidson, Speed, Schumacher, Sutil, and Webber are out.
