The sole reason I'm getting a Wii

If that is the only reason you are getting a Wii, I feel sorry for you. If that is what you consider the BEST that Nintendo can offer on the Wii, then I don't see that console having a long life. lol

Wow, that game looks even worse than I thought it would be. I mean, c'mon -- the developer didn't even change the engine sound effects from their GBA racing games (I forget what the series is called at the moment).

Bad cel-shaded graphics, silly-looking physics, horrible sound effects that are grating to my ears...I'm definitely going to go with Excite Truck instead.

C'mon MdnIte...I'm a Genki game fan, and I still think this game looks bad. I can respect your opinion, but my advice to you is to rent it before you buy it. I'll probably end up renting it myself, just to give it a chance.

Hey I'm a Genki fan too.

I like this game because of the physics it had, gave me lots of fun on the GBA (GT Advance), I know what I'm getting myself into.

Well I was deciding on the games had and the wii only had Zelda that really stood out for me. Then I saw this so yea.

OT: have you played C1 Racing Battle?

Nope, I haven't played C1, but I've heard about it.

Why aren't you getting Excite Truck? It looks like a cross between Burnout and SHOX, and it's a first-party game, so it has to be good. ;)

The physics look like a joke from the drifting demo I saw. And I think Automodelista looks better...

I would rather go with NFS:Carbon on the Wii.

And also look into Rayman: Raving rabbids. Its suppose to be a great title.

My aren't we a bunch of optimistic people.

Don't get me wrong, Auto Modelista was good for $20 of fun. But on a brand-new system with a full-price title, GT Pro just isn't worth it IMO. Early reviews of the game peg it with sub-par graphics, poor audio, and overall less than stellar controls.

To be completely honest, if you're that big of a racing-game fan, you're better off buying a 360 or PS3. Nintendo hasn't ever been good at racing titles outside of:

1) Top Gear: Still my favorite SNES game
2) Mario Kart: One of the best franchises from Nintendo

...and thats about it.

I'd be buying a Wii for the innovative, fun titles. Trauma Center looks like fun, and from what I understand Wii Sports is a blast. And of course, no one can argue against Zelda, as even I haven't been a big-fan of the franchise, but have seen the light with the Wii.

Who recorded those sound effects? Sounds like ****! Worse than Gran Turismo's bad record.

And by the looks of it, Auto Modellista LOOKS and SOUNDS better than that. AM had cel shadding. This has POS graphics.

The Wii is going to fall very far behind Microsoft and Sony.

Remember, NFS: Carbon is on the Wii, and it looks MUCH better. This game is just sloppy crap...

Funny. I played the PS3 Motorstorm demo at Best Buy -- it had tons of slowdown (the framerate never went any higher than 20fps), graphics that reminded me of a poor 360 launch title, and gameplay that not only ripped off Excite Truck with its "boost raises your engine temperature" gameplay mechanic, but also made it very slow-paced, boring, and tedious.

The PS3 is going to fall very far behind Nintendo and Microsoft.

I'm being sarcastic, of course. If one bad launch game could spell disaster for a system, the gaming industry would have died with the first Atari.

Well, I'm not saying the Wii will fall behind because of GT Pro's piss poor attempt at a racing game, but after seeing the gigantic demand of the X360 last year, and the even bigger one of Sony right now, it doesn't look good for Nintendo. Zelda right now, seems to be the biggest thing right now, and if you've been paying attention (and I'm sure you have Wolfe), you'd see it has gotten anywhere near the amount of fame Resistance and Gears has.

That's the main reason I don't see the Wii staying with MS and Sony for a long time. Right now, they don't just have a game to compete with Resistance and Gears of War.

But Mc, thats where the thing is. Not many people want a massive epic game to play thats serious. More people will want to play Wii sports than Zelda. And so on.

Thats why the Wii will succeed I think, in that it will get tons of people that never had an interest in gaming into it, because of its innovative control system and what not. Lot more variation in games and such will happen on the Wii, where the PS3 and XBOX are limited by their more convential input devices. Sixaxis is really nothing new either, as some company tried a tilt input controller and that never took off.

Plus the fact that like every store got 5 times as many Wii's as the PS3, and people are still needing to line up to get them, indicates that there is considerable interest.

To be totally honest about the system, though, I feel it's going to end up like the Gamecube. It'll look good for the next few months, but after a while, the interest will die, and will fall behind Sony and MS in the fame department.

It's a nifty little system, but Nintendo really is on a gamble with its controllers and games. It has to hope that not a lot of people are spoiled by Gears or Resistance.

^ Here is the problem with that though. As pointed out earlier, the Wii is selling more as an "interactive" system as compared to the other two. And be it gimmicky or not, people of all ages love the system. When Jim Louderback reviewed the system, I wasn't expecting a tech-geek like himself to be so giddy about it. He too was stunned by how excited his kids were, even when in comparison to the PS3.

What we all need to keep in mind is that the success of the Wii will be dictated by the casual gamer, not hardcore fans like us. We're talking about people who maybe, at best, spend less than 3 hours a week playing games... Not the anti-social Halo and GT fans like many of us are.

I dunno. I'd like to buy one, but not yet. There simply aren't enough "solid" titles out yet to justify a $250 purchase, and added to that, I think I'd be happier spending $250 on things for the 360. But thats just me...

I'm suddenly glad I saw these videos. I definitely won't be buying this.

Oh, and who was driving in the first video? Has he ever heard of brakes? I think I saw the brake lights flash on for about half a second.

Maybe this game isn't so good, and you may have to play it with the sound turned all the way down, but I reccomend Legend of Zelda and Red Steel, and i'm thinking of getting Excite Truck, I think i'll stick with GT4 and Race for racing sims atm lol.

I have this game for Game Cube. It's called GT Cube and while it certainly won't win a beatuy contest it is a solid game and enjoyed playing it, a game you can buy for sure. Of course that was before the Xbox360 was released, so...
