The sound glitch that has gone unnoticed since 1.01?

As we all know, cockpit view has two different sound samples for each car.
Rear view and normal view.

Today i have discovered that they are reversed.

This is the reason so many complain about poor induction sound / mechanical noise.

Try it out for yourself.

PS: i posted this in the big sound thread but i wanted this to get out to a wide audience in hope that enough attention will lead to a patch correcting this issue.

It's not that it's reverse the game was built with surround sound systems in mind. If you have surround sound you can hear your engine up front and exhaust in the rear just like you would in real life. That I know they got correctly.

Yes, I'd have to agree with the second post. Surround sound, at least mine, captures the effect as you would expect: induction/engine sound up front, and exhaust sound towards the back.

But does looking back alter the sound in surround systems?
Do you get any more induction sound from looking back?

If anyone with a proper surround setup could check their rear view in cockpit view and post their findings here that would be great.

The Surround sound system I've got gives the engine upfront and exhaust behind, or on the sides of you if your in the Shelby Cobra 👍

Plus nothing better than hearing the engine of mid engine cars right behind your head...

As for putting the rear view on, the sound does swap, this is because when you put the rear view on the exhaust/engine are now infront of you as if youre looking through the rear, which mean the sound would be coming at you from the front. Just as it would in real life, it would be strange to see the engine infront of you but hear it behind you.

But does looking back enhance induction sound?

This is what i found and in my opinion this is a big error.
The two samples are switched.

Any autophile audiophiles with surround sound that can confirm?

Generally, there is no induction sound in GT, so I don't know what it is you think you're hearing. Is there a particular car where this effect is especially evident?

Also, see the GT5 Sound Thread for thoughts on game audio settings vs. actual audio hardware.

The sound we here when looking backwars is mainly from the engine as our camera is placed just in front of the car. When we look forward our camera is close to the exhaust.

To be honest, if I look back from cockpit cam I get a more deep exhaust sound except if I'm driving a MR car. I've also noticed that some people say that some cars have sound comming only from one side, but they don't consider that this was made on purpose depending on the location of the exhaust. A good example would be the Asparadrink RX-7 GT300.

And yes, take in consideration that the game was made to be enjoyed better with surround systems.

I'm using the official PS3 wireless headset (which has 7.1 surround sound) and it all seems correct to me...

The replay of driving an F40 on the Nur, reverse (camera looking at your rivals in back) is epic. beautiful engine(oops censored) note. Totally lacking while driving it though. And I have a 7.1 PS3 headset.

i have a thread on this as well. i only get engine sound from the right side in cockpit forward in most cars. my fav the 70 challenger is also the same. its very annoying as it has dual exhaust. before the update in january the sound was perfect from both sides. i wish this was fixed..

That is a known issue since 2.02 i think, very annoying cause many cars with sidepipes suffer this bug.

We have something positiv too, in many cars the fully customized transmission gearwhine is much quieter then earlier.
