I somewhat expected such a mode. Because the times set by The Stig were single lap standing start situations, I relaly wanted to see PD re-enact this. Couple this with the tracking technology they revealed in January, I also wanted to see them track the hotlaps set by The Stig, and have PD implement them as ghost laps, or demo laps. Something that was very doable in my eyes.

Will we see a full hotlap leaderboard? Does this mean we will also see the cars used by the celebrities as they were on the show (Suzuki Liana, Chevrolet Lacetti, Kia C'eed)?

I'm very excited to see what this mode brings us, and what it will evolve into through DLC.

To be honest, as soon as it was mentioned that the TGTT would be in the game, it was fairly obvious that there would be a mode to beat times from The Stig, otherwise why ride the hype of the show? Nice to hear that somewhat confirmed, although we don't know exactly how it will be implemented.

I would say that yes, we'll get to use said cars, and I really am hoping for ghosts of The Stig, even though it will be easy to beat them, still nice to have.

I'm excited about this too maybe we will have to get near his lap times, or drive on his line to pass.

Agree with you Frappy. Confirming this track meant there was going to be more along with it. Looking forward to hearing more about this.

Its such a shame... just when we get the chance to "challenge" the Stig's times, he gets fired.

Ya the data logger is what I was referring to in terms of the tracking. This allows PD to update GT5 with new hotlaps as TG updates their leaderboards. I'd like to see the Star in a Reasonably Price Car boards in game as well. Would a small, but cool addition to keep us busy.

I would hope that all times logged on the test track would be from a standing start.

The problem with a game is that we'll always be able to beat real world times. You drive a game very differently from the way you drive a real car, and beating the Stig's times on the track won't be hard at all. So I'm not sure what this "Stig Challenge" is going to be, unless they've set new in-game laptimes using their own "Stig", and you've got to beat those.

Personally, what I'll be doing with the test track is setting up my cars. Tires, assists, etc, so that my lap times match his real-world times as closely as possible, without going too far under them.

I agree with you completely. I doubt it will be too tough to beat the times, because we can push the car to its limits, and if we go over, so what, it's a game. It's different in real life. That, and maybe we will be limited to tire choices for the lap time comparison.

That's questionable. The TG crew was just spotted in North Carolina, so they are still shooting for the episodes. The laps The Stig does at the home track can be done a day before shooting the studio portion of the episode, which could still be a few months away.

They already have one Ben Collins was out a long time ago.
If, by "a long time ago", you mean "a few weeks", then you're right.

Collins was first unofficially "outed" as the Stig back in January, wasn't he? But they kept him on for the entire next series. And yes, you can tell it's him. Even if they put the new Stig in the same suit, you'll be able to tell the difference in the way he moves.

I wonder if he'll narrate the introductions for his challenges in Morse Code?

He was rumored to be The Stig, along with several other people. There was a post of the official report of Hamsters jet car crash, where Ben Collins' name showed up as a performance test driver for the company, but I don't think that really hit the net too much. I didn't hear about it until a few weeks ago. When he was seen leaving the courtroom, was when it was pretty much out of the bag. Even if the court ruling was in favor of BBC, it was too late.

The rumour that The Stig was Ben Collins has been going around for at least the last 2-3 years, at least that was about how long ago I heard his name mentioned for the first time.
Also from what I have heard The Stigs different 'cousins' have all been different drivers as well and Collins was only used when available for their off site 'challenge' type episodes and for doing power laps.

By the way, how will the TGTT cope because it is a figure of eight track? Wont cars crash into each other in the overlapping section? It would be fun it you could smash up the tire wall, make a mini derby on the overlapping section and go 2 wheels (on a car, of course) around Gambon.

I was thinking about that as well a while ago but im guessing it will be like the GT4 special conditions with only 2 cars on track.

+1 for going Tom Cruise style around Gambon in a Cee'd :sly:

We have seen collision effects with tire walls already, so I'd expect the tire walls on the TGTT to be dynamic as well. Rumors say races on the TGTT will see cars go into ghost mode at the figure 8. I wonder if that will affect the draft effect too.

Full grids have been spotted on the TGTT. I've seen videos of the Fiat 500 going around the track with multiple cars on it.
