On the GT5 release trailers, the Stig was clearly visible driving cars around the Top Gear Test Track. But since playing GT5, he doesn't seem to turn up anywhere?

Can you select your driver to be the Stig, or race him in any way? In events etc?

Just rather strange to create a stig in game, for the trailers... then leave him out. I shouldn't be surprised however! This is PD.

Maybe it was to show that the player can "become" the stig once the game came out, like make your own version of the stig

But you can't "become" the Stig, that's my point. The Stig as a driver model doesn't feature anywhere in GT5. So the only reason I can see to show him in the trailers, was to help sell the game. Even then, why model him, then leave him out? I'm sure many of us would want to have him driving our cars, or even just to race against. For novelty values sake.

No, it's no different. The Stig was likely included in the trailers because he's synonymous with the show. By showing The Stig, Polyphony were furthering the connections between GT5 and TOP GEAR in the mind of viewers. There was never any promise of playing as or against The Stig, and it was probably their intention all along to remove him from the final build of the game.

Yes, what I said, to basically help sell the game. Oh well.

I personally think they've missed an opportunity by not having him included, even if it's for pure novelty reasons.

Excatly

Not sure if this if this was worth mentioning, but you know the little segments that play in the background in the main menu of the game? One of them shows the Stig driving cars around the Top Gear Test Track. Not saying this could mean something or not. Just a thought.

Well most of those segments are photomode locations that aren't available either, so I guess there not meant for anything besides visual demostration

Did you not watch the video before you started the TGTT challenge? You see the Stig in a DB9, drive out of the top gear shed and onto that track we love so much.

But no we can't dress up as the stig :(

Honestly can't remember, but it rings a bell. 👍

He was sacked in September and the game came out in November.

Some say the new Stig is a woman :sly:

Anyway, the Stig never really gets sacked - he/she is as much a part of the show as CHM trio, and besides, car manufacturers like loaning them their newest cars so they can compare their performance on an independent show.
