The Things That Annoy You

How do you expect them to animate the driver moving the gear before you've pressed the button? It has to start afterwards.
I agree with you, it must comes after the player input, but maybe they can animate a faster move of the arm, that feels a bit unnatural and slow… I mean if you’re driving a fast car you probably need a very short run to switch gear, while in game they are usually modeled as a very evident movement also when the driver constantly has its arm on the lever.

There is a lack of controller configuration options.

For example, many other racing games allow you to set a trigger dead zone, and games like Forza and TCM allow you to set a steering simulation mode (direct mode) so that you can always get a sufficient steering angle even with stick steering.

If only this game had those options, I would enjoy it so much more.

I don’t mind it, if they sped it up, it’d look just as weird.

What they could do is have the guy shift nearing redline right when people would shift, but then what happens if you short shift or shift much later really revving it out?

I think it is what it is and there’s nothing that can be done about it.

What annoys me most is not having a lot of their original tracks in the game just to fill out the options some. The car updates for me have been meh and there is no sign of any new tracks.

I find this annoying why it only applies to the GTWS events, but could PD please add this feature about illegal blocking, as many ppl do this on Sport mode when racing online and don’t get repromanded for it. The same can be said for swerving down straights. I'm just curious if this rule is enforced by humans or the built in AI programming of the build of the game they use for GTWS events.

Because there are some features I see at these events that are not available still to this day in-game. Like the dunlop popup message of tyres, People been using third party apps to compensate for like tyre temps etc.

I'm with you on that one! Where's Midfield?

Good haha. I’m in Canada so maybe it’s worse here but my vehicle I bought for $6200 with 190,000kms. Fast forward 7-8 years later and they’re selling for $9000 with 300,000kms. I don’t get it. It’s been good so I’ll keep it with only 260,000kms because I can’t get anything to replace it for the money I’d get.

Anyway it’s crazy. Gone are the days of buying a beater for $500 and driving it for five years haha. Beaters are starting at $3000

@hawkeyez True that. My son was looking to buy a 2010 Jetta with 150k miles. It was $5000 but when he had it inspected, it needed $4k in repairs.

No such thing as a Sub $10K car. Sure you can pay less than that but it will need a fortune in repairs.

Shouldn't the Chaser Tourer V and Mark II Tourer V have different interiors, at least colors and patterns and different colors of instrument lighting?

Won’t be buying them anyway. I lost track of the game, see there was an update. Caterham, not bad I guess, and then yet again stuff of no interest.

On another things that annoy me, everything is all sedans, suvs and trucks these days. Humanity is going to look back at this time and go what were we thinking. Gas prices are high, apparently we’re running out, “climate change” too and yet everything are big gas guzzlers. If it isn’t, it’s a four door. The 2 door sporty coupes are almost officially dead. It feels like sometimes Gran Turismo or Polyphony Digital are leaning into that too.

Just like music, albums and artwork are gone and we’re left with high marketed same as the last. Goes for vehicles now too. Can’t tell the difference.

Rant over. 😢 lol

Why has there never been a single piece of singleplayer content for the kart in 4.5 years of this game?

Like, even if they don't want to give it a permanent event because of how the game is structured, it's unbelievable to me that it hasn't had a weekly event yet.

Countries are not sorted alphabeticaly when you edit drivers in custom races. The order makes no sense.

That they are STILL no Scapes from Croatia 🇭🇷

Although, but not with that intensity as Scapes, bcs we are absolutely beautiful country, that there are no CRO AI drivers, not a single one!

Since we’re airing pet peeves… These are mine for the PS5 version of the game:

1. The “optimal” lap time based on section timing doesn’t work. I can run a lap with my best time and the optimal time is somehow calculated as being higher?
2. When I pull into a pit stop and my car is sitting still, the gap to the following car somehow is still getting larger?! I’m going to assume that my AI competitors have not suddenly decided to drive in reverse to achieve this effect…
3. When I pull out of a pit stop, the gap to the car behind me is “stuck” and doesn’t increase. It should either (1) increase because the closest vehicle is in a pit stop, or (2) adjust to dynamically show the gap to whichever car is closest and NOT in a pit stop.
4. It is impossible to pause the game or otherwise exit from the cutscene that is a pit stop. Why?
5. During a replay, the MFD (multi function display) cannot be adjusted. This means I can’t review my section times or what my current fuel settings are.

I consider the above to be bugs that should be fixed. These are my quality-of-life issues:

1. The replay settings should be “sticky” from one replay to the next. If I choose to display all car info for my first replay, it should be the default for the next one.
2. The “best” section times should also be sticky — clear them when I change tracks or change cars, but otherwise LEAVE THEM ALONE!
3. If I’ve bumped a car too hard and will lose the Clean Race bonus, I want to know about it right away. A simple notation in the car list in the upper left of the screen would be sufficient.
4. During a replay, I’d like to be able to view the same car list data as is shown during GTWS events. I have found that I can do that during actual GTWS replays if I use the Dynamic Viewing mode — this is way cool! I love being able to see tire life and fuel levels for all of the cars at a glance. It very much helps me understand the choices the top drivers make regarding pit stops.
5. Why does the World Events page take so long to load? If I select a race on the Weekly Challenge series, I jump to the specific event instantly. Perhaps that top level page needs to be cached so that it can be redisplayed quickly after the first visit during a gaming session.

And the most important change that PD could make? A dedicated bug reporting page!! I’d like to know if (1) my bug has already been reported, (2) be able to upvote the importance of a particular bug if it has, and (3) be able to view bugs others have reported so that I know I’m not hallucinating the errors. This thing where people repost their bug reports anywhere and everywhere just in case they haven’t been reported yet is, quite frankly, an insane approach.

Whew. Okay, now I’m going to get back in front of my console and enjoy one of my favorite games on the PS5! Cheers, all!

Updates that change performance points… not a big deal, until you can see your cars performance points until you select it. We all have a crazy amount of cars in our garage.

Why can’t they just run a script for us that updates the Performance Points without us having to get into a car to see the change?

Somebody picks a race at 500pp CS. You select a car in that range, suddenly it’s 475pp or 530pp. So you move onto the next to try and find a match and you have no idea if it’s going to up or down in pp.

SUPER ANNOYING. Can’t believe they haven’t fixed this.

Two petty things but related to each other as it all ties back to there being too much clicking about in the UI.

  • Cannot redeem gifts anywhere but the garage, so you get a pop up that says you win 200K but nope, gotta go to garage to redeem it
  • Have to go to garage to change the default tyre, drives you nuts int he daily as you need to change it every time you enter a race unless you go tot he garage and faff about

You know what annoys me? The vintage tread on some cars, but no vintage tires.

If I put a modern Sports tire on a car, give me a modern tread design. The game already does this with newer cars.

Just been thinking about the upcoming car viewer and getting to check out the liveries for racing and tuned cars I’ve made over the updates…

But now that GT7 is probably on its final major update until GT8, and the car list continues to grow… we really need more car added classes in the game, or “Groups”.

Polyphony have shown they have the car list and count to make a bunch of new car classes already, and have events for some in the Power Pack and Daily Races… I’m not saying completely abolish what we have, but Group C really needs to be in its own class, and so do the different eras of GT500 cars in the game already. (And the RS5 DTM with the 2016 ones.)

Now we have five different Hypercars, they can definitely be put in their own class by now. There’s enough LMP1 cars to also have a decent class for those.

Also another pet peeve of mine is Group 4. That class really needs a facelift nowadays when Group 3 is constantly getting all the attention. The cars in 4 are getting really outdated, nearly a decade old by now. There’s plenty of more modern GT4/TCR cars to draw from. We got the Hyundai but that’s been it since the old Alfa was added, or the Swift.

Also, by having these smaller and more focused classes, it makes creating a universal BOP much easier than having to do it for 20+ cars from different decades.

For adding new Group 4 cars too. I don’t even think it’d be that resource intensive. Just steal a few bits from the GT3 cars, use the GT Auto aero package with a front lip spoiler and small wing, add slick tires and Bob’s your uncle. Some of the more recent road sports cars even have the GT4 aero kits modelled already. Which is funny.

The dimensions of each vehicle. Why do I have to go to Brand Central to view the length, width and height measurements of the cars I bought?

The vehicle used for the Suzuka Circuit track experience is the Raybrig NSX, and the weather for the event is perfectly clear.

What's the problem, and what's making me so frustrated?
You’d understand immediately if you played this track experience using the chase view....

All this time since the game came out and the Ferrari Enzo still doesn’t have the LED shift lights in the steering wheel. Every Enzo made came equipped standard with these lights. Previous versions of Gran Turismo included the lights. Other Ferrari in GT7 have shift lights, including the F430/Scuderia which are very similar if not identical to the ones that are supposed to be in the Enzo. It’s even an invite only car, you’d think they focus a little more on those.

Another tinny but big annoyance I just noticed when racing, is the lap timing clock rectangular box, when you button flick to the rear view, the clock obstructs my view as I cant see people behind me when running away at speed, down a straight, and how far they are in terms of distance. I cant always rely on the radar. The clock is slap bang in the way, so goofy, the clock really should only be visible when looking forward! Right? bad UI design?

What about the time clock for karts? It’s right on the horizon when in cockpit view. Extremely annoying.

Not being able to open up shared scapes directly to change out cars and create a new scape photo. That is kind of dumb. I believe when your first look at your save scapes to have to click another icon in order to be able to flip pages that is also dumb. Not being able to edit scapes from shared gallery or even from scapes menu - favorites. It would be nice for at least friends to be able to open their scapes and change out cars. They could have it where it forces car to be changed out.

One small thing that annoys me is that some colors available on cars aren't in GT Auto like the Nismo R34 Z-Tune's Midnight Purple III. I would like that to be available so I can put it on my R34 V-Spec II Nur.
