They're a mixture of truth, outright falsehood, and something in between - but they're all stale.

LOL, man you guys sure are rough. Glad I didn't post this... :sly:

If it doesn't kill me, it'll make me stronger! Gah! :)

I think that it is most people who have been on the Internet for years have managed to filter out these things from their email. These lists and the survey forwards are the most annoying thing on the net just behind spam and viruses. After repeated rude responses and email filters I got the emails to stop.

Now it follows us into the forums. No one means any ill-will towards GTRacer4, I don't think, but we don't like these things either. The best way to deal with these, aside from ignoring them, is to debunk them or call them out for unoriginality. :sly:

As long as you learned, that is all that matters. 👍

Duke seems to be in a 👍 👍 👍 mood today!

1. Look at your zipper. See the initials YKK? It stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushibibaisha, the world's largest zipper manufacturer.
It's a good thing the first one was something I'd always wondered about, although I'm sure the company name is actually: Yoshida Kogyo Kabushikigaisha, since that third word means "corporation" (although kabu-shi-ki-kaisha is also correct in some cases).

Edit: What with all the "facts" threads lately? Are we turning into a poor excuse for Wikipedia?

^ I think you have this thread confused my friend.
Well - One of the "Facts" did say that you need to store your toothbrush at least 6 feet from your toilet - Reckon that could have something to do with the post ? ;)

12. There are no clocks in Las Vegas gambling casinos.

Orly????

I could have sworn I saw atleast 20 on the monitors in the surveillance room in Circus Circus alone, not to mention all of the digital recorders were all displaying time. It is all required by the Nevada State Gambling Commission.
Or, at least that's what I read in the rules.... and saw with me own I's! But I bet you were talking of the clocks in the Gambling pits. Yes there are, for the floor bosses and the dealers themselves need to know the time for rotation and table fills & such.

All of the other factoid-thangies are interesting, tho.

My zipper was made by Urban-ups.

And Casinos don't display clocks so people don't say "It's getting late, I should go" so they can lose more money.

27. A mathematical wonder: 111,111,111multiplied by 111,111,111 gives the result 12, 345, 678, 987, 654, 321.
Well, it's true, but I don't know if it really qualifies as a "wonder".

I was going to point that out too. :D I had always wondered about YKK. They are like Microsoft of zippers. :p

YKK International has a pretty cool headquarters building, too, though I can't find a decent picture of it on the InterWeb.

18. Dentists recommend that a toothbrush be kept at least six feet away from a toilet to avoid airborne particles resulting from the flush.

Pffft! I wet and rinse my toothbrush in my toilet every day. It saves money, you know.

9. Ketchup was sold in the 1830's as a medicine.
:odd:

35. It's impossible to sneeze with your eyes open.
Really? I'm so going to try and keep them open next time!

26. To escape the grip of a crocodile's jaws, prick
your fingers into its eyeballs. It will let you go instantly.
Who wouldn't let go!

Wikipedia is in itself a pretty poor excuse for an encyclopaedia.

I like Wikipedia. It's extremely useful for local studies, knowing all about my hometown on Heckmondwike and what not.

34 is pretty cool. I also like "strength" one of the longest monosyllabic words in the english language.

Schreeched is the longest. (I think.)

Share something random. Maybe learn something new and share something most people may not know.

The average human being swallows approximately 200 spiders in their sleep in their lifetime. :)

That's a fact right? :D

Thanks... I really didn't want to know that, but you were just doing what I asked.
