Sorry, only managed to go through 30 GTP reported emails (many already dealt with as it turns out) in my inbox today. Still many remaining but it's now 1.45am and I need to be up at 7am. Will try to do better next time.

Wow, that post is worded in a way that it makes me a bit guilty, for some odd reason..

Slacker

To join the bandwagon, i've been getting a bit miffed lately by the amount of repeat topics in the GT5 forum. If they did a search, most of those topics would have been covered before.

If i see such a repeat topic, and myself do a search and find numerous similar ones, is that grounds for reporting it? I've thought about it before, but it hasn't said much about it in the AUP.

The very first entries to the BUL told why they got banned, for the records. Now its more Stand-Up comedy now.
You can't really be funny when you're moderating in threads - people can easily take it the wrong way. The BUL is a chance for the mods to blow off a little steam at the frustrations of the job.

At least, that's what I used it for.

Two day ban after insulting people. Ten days later the ban was made permanent after a return to his uncivil behaviour. Across multiple accounts.

Seems pretty informative to me?
I missed the first entry.

I for one appreciate the BUL (maybe not many do, I don't know). I find it comical how people can behave sometimes and get themselves shown the door.

An AUP violation is grounds for a warning or infraction.

A duplicate thread is grounds for closing/merging the thread(s).

Report both, please. 👍

Not strictly related to the topic in hand but I feel this is best suited to this thread instead of making another one.

How come some banned member's have their user title (which says Banned obviously) in Italics, like this.

While others have it in a more regular format, like this.

I think some people put that as their user title to toy with the mods.

Wow I was wondering the same thing, I too would like to see why this is.

EDIT: my theory is one is for a temporary ban, while another is permanent.

Yeah, from what I understand that's the case. Then again, I could be wrong.

Mine too, from what I've seen it seems that italics = permanent ban.

I'm not sure to be honest cause I know GT Delivers is on a Permanent Ban, he was a duplicate account of a well-known member here at the end of last year. I'm also pretty sure MarkWebber is permanently banned aswell, cause he has been like that for a couple of weeks now.

If they have under 500 posts, then it's a ban. If they have over 500 posts, it's either a ban, or they'll be experiencing one pretty soon.

You mean if they put that as their title either one of those will happen?

I'm just over 500, so....

As a moderator on another, much smaller forum, I have to say: kudos to the mods on this site. I find it very difficult moderating a small section of a car forum due to the odd bit of bickering and banter that is taken the wrong way.

I can only imagine how hard it is for the moderators on this site to try and keep up to date with the reported posts, the spam threads in the GT5 section, the bickering across the board by immature idiots and the insults that are thrown around by trolls.

But keep this in mind next time you want to rant about the moderators: They are not paid to do this job. They are taking their free time and putting it into this site to make it a better place for everyone who visits, including you (Yes you reading this). I imagine that many of them have families and I'm sure they all have full time jobs too. So for them to come back from a hard day at work and sit down to a rant about them 'not doing their jobs' because someone you didn't like didn't get banned within a few hours is an insult and is very very rude.

If everyone just reported the posts that need reporting and then backed off, none of this would happen. Don't reply to trolls. Don't reply to insults aimed at you. Don't reply to spammers or multiple posters. Click that little exclamation mark icon and let the staff do their jobs without you getting in their way.

Oh, and if you're going to tell a new member that they're doing something wrong, explain why you are telling them and they might not be so vicious towards you. If they are, just report and walk away. You'd be amazed at the difference it makes.

machate-man got a 24 hour ban for having Banned as his user title.

I was "surprised" to say the least; so much that I included it in my Signature as a warning from history:sly:

Im new to this and I'm just finding my way around I might have put a few to many new threads meaning to just reply as I do alot of it from my phone, and iv commented on alot of other posts cos I really enjoy gran turismo I play it most days, I come on here to get things I don't have and to help my fellow gamers out that are looking for things
