I know there are a lot of threads already about this car, but I couldn't find the answer to my question:

Can you use this car right out of the box for the Polyphony Cup? I won one on the Pro MR Challenge, but suped it up a while ago and now it won't let me enter it in the Polyphony Cup. I think I can win another one at the Seattle Enduro, but before I do that I want to know if I can even use it.

By the way, it is my new favourite car. It looks awesome and sounds even better. Drives like a dream and goes like a bat out of hell!

Yes you can, but the best car to use IMO ( I have dont that race a million times ) was the Jaguar XJ220....just throw some tires on it, and you are good to go !

Really? I tried with a lot of cars and didn't even think about using that one! So far besides the ZZII and the Speed 12(obviously) I have used the Zonda C12S, which sucks rocks in my opinion, because it wears the front tires out way too fast. I wish there was another way to win back that ZZII so I could use it. I can't even de-tune it because I guess I did the Lightweight Reduction on it...oh well!

I used a gt40 road car too, but you have to be patient with her, she like to swing her tail !!

Is there any way to win the XJ220? It costs a hell of a lot, doesn't it? I can't seem to find it in the Prize Cars list, unless it's under the Endurance races, in which case I'd rather buy it!!

Yeah, you can only win it in the Mistrel 78 lap Endurance....I just bought it

Isn't the PD cup the S-License series that requires a "normal" car? If I am thinking of the right race series the ZZII and GT40 won't qualify for them. You won't be able to enter them as they aren't normal cars. They are down-tuned race cars (especially the GT40, R390 road, etc). The ZZII is a supercar.

Plus even if you could enter those cars it would be overkill. You can easily win the series with a subaru 22b, WRX STI, Skyline, RGT, 3400s, Viper GTS (the normal one). Even those cars are overkill for the series in their base forms.

---

The Xj220 is a dog, in race or road form. You'd be better off with the Panoz GT-1 if you want a lemans/race car. As forthe road version a mildly tuned RGT will wipe the floor with the xj220

I think you can enter those cars, I was able to enter the PD up with the GT-ONE road car...but as you had put it, I felt it was overkill... so I picked a Corvette Z06 and won the serries with that car 👍 ... I would not consider it overkill but that's just me. Plus time is never on my side...yet I want to have some honor so I just focued on going as fast as I could. But if I wanted overkill I would have used the Toyota GT-One or the ZZII.

That's what I've got to say on this.

Try also the Mazda rx-8 for a good time....man, you have to drive your ass off to win with that....tha Nissan 350Z is always on your ass

You can enter the GT40 road car, but you can not enter the ZZII. Because of the standard racing transmission and suspension, it's considered a race car for PD Cup purposes.

Neon is correct, the ZZ-II is not classed as a standar road car.

Fact.

GT3 classes the ZZII as a racing car anyway, so even if it wasn't for the non-standard parts on it you wouldn't be able to enter it in the PD Cup as it's for road cars only.

The TS020 Road Car, R390 Road Car, TVR Speed 12, XJ220 Road Car, Ruf RGT, Rif CTR2 and Pagani Zonda C12-S are all eligible for the PD Cup. The Nismo R-Tune, Nismo S-Tune, Spoon Civic, Trueno Shigeno and TRD Celica are not (not that you'd want to use many of them, but the series IS winnable in an Integra Type-R).
.

A car that enters PD Cup must use all normal parts (except tyres).

I won PD Cup using my black NSX-R (T5 tyres).

i didn't even try racing that. but i do have ZZII... good car.

Holy Crow!! I thought this car was good BEFORE I slapped the Stage 2 Turbo on it! Now the only thing that was a little lacking - pickup - has been not only fixed but prefected! THIS IS THE BEST CAR IN THE GAME!

Sheesh, driving it is like trying to steer a bullet!

You can enter the GT40 road car,

Famine
Fact.
...GT40 Road Car, ... are all eligible for the PD Cup.
.
tut, tut. I expected better from you two. :dopey:

You can't enter the GT40 road car as it comes as standard with a racing muffler, which makes it ineligible for the PD cup.

I will now refer you to Duke's own quote in my sig.... and then run a way and hide for a while. Been nice knowing you all....

D'oh! My bad. In humble apology, all I can say is that I don't own the road car.

Thanks, daan. I appreciate the correction.

I ran the GT40 Road Car in the PD Cup.

Although to be entirely fair I DID remove the racing muffler with GT3gEdit first... :D

Well, lets clarify that...

The R390 road car is eligible as is the XJ220 road car and GT-One road car. So you were right, but not completely.

:dopey:

I think the GT40 is (another) mistake by PD. Why are the GT-One & R390 road cars allowed in and the GT40 isn't?

Well..eitherway the rules for "normal cars" in GT3 are a bit dodgy. Cars like the R390 road I suppose are called road cars (and i know why they were created in real life as road cars) but come on they are tuned down race cars, super cars even.

THe PD cup is a fun series. I think when i first played GT3 I used the 22b which was overkill, even with my limited driving time. Taking a GT40 into it is just silly.

Part of the problem with GT3, espcially the "normal" car races is picking a car that can compete with the AI ones. More often than not you pick a car that blasts the other cars, even taking into account the poor AI. This is true with all races in GT3 vs.s the AI but especially apparent in the normal car races.

Hey I tried...

The PD cup is my favourite series. I like trying it in as many different cars as I can and it annoys me that I can't use the GT40.

Another fun car to try in the race is the camaro...hard to keep the tires healthy

Vauxhall VX220/Opel Speedster. 'Nuff said.

I wasn't aware that you could change the tyres in the PD cup. You mean I've run the whole championship on road tyres when I didn't have to?

Oh well, it was certainly... fun, in a tailhappy sort of way!

Wrongwrongwrongwrong and wrong again. The GT-One Road Car is the most boring car for the PD Cup.

I've done it twice, using the SVT Mustang and the 22B. Both were fun victories - not sweeps - though some of the earlier races were bigger margins than I like. I really wanted to use the Silvia Aero, but it just didn't have the stones for it.

Ahh you all suck! Where's Kodiak with his little gold Suzuki Alto works 'Nugget'?
He'll munch the lot of you! :trouble:

Well, of course that's true in the aspect of racing the AI. But in the aspect of racing the clock - and other human drivers online - it can be quite interesting.

I've completed the PD Cup at least 10 times (Speed 12, GT-One, R390 Road Car, XJ220 GT, Ruf RGT, Ruf 3400S, Vauxhall VX220, Lotus Elise 190 and Honda Integra Type-R) and I've raced Trial Mountain II, SSR5 II and Midfield II well over 30 times each.

Top series. :D
