Best way I found was pass him as early as possible I always waited till the hard right left turns that tell you to drop the 1st gear. It's pretty easy to stay in front of him for the entire track and if you decent at the nurb you can get way ahead of him and when you hit the straight go all the way to the right of the track to avoid any contact, let him pass and draft him, I stayed behind him untill the last right turn to the finish and he breaks hard and you can easily go out around him (going left) and cruize the the finish with usually 3-4 sec to spare. If you try to out race him usually you will end up in the wall or into him. If you drive the track and dont make mistakes you really wont be close time wise, you should have plenty of time to carefully get by and win.

Don't know what I am doing so wrong here. I am passing the AI in the first set of corners, and tapping the GT out for the most of the track, but still only managed 1:56xx. I am finding that the Ai is nailing me on the right hander as you start the climb uphill. I am miles in front of it, then as I approach this corner, WHAM,its lights come on and I get shunted or forced onto the berm and slide out into the Armco. I had a gold lap as I was low 1:40 going into the final right hander at the s/f line, but spun it trying to get round a near stationary AI. I personally am finding this one even worse than the shifter karts.

Keep at it Croozer it was certainly a operation in frustration for me as well. I ended up taking a deep breath and turning off the AI car and the clock in my mind. Once I found my zen I just drove it and finished with time to spare. After about 100 starts and loosing the church words a few times.

Cheers there Staquix for the encouragement. Just golded tonight, fairly easily actually. The problem I was having, it seemed, was that I was driving too cautiously. My 50yo eyes don't do the night stuff so well at speed, but ,as you said, I just "closed my eyes" and drove my normal race. As an earlier contributor said, the car handles better than expected, and when driven hard, seems to respond favourably. Once again , thanx for the kind words.
