The Verdict: Patch v1.13

Seems like there's more Driver Intergration, at the Kyoto demo screen, there will be 2 scenes of your driver standing next to the car, I never saw it before.
Now why can't we have this in photomode ? come on PD, you see we're making awesome stuff, give us some love, not just the racers.

Head tracking doesn't seem to work as good anymore.

The only noticeable impact the patch has had so far seems to be the placebo effect in convincing players that significant changes have taken place.

Has anyone noticed the torque curve is different now when decreasing engine power? It always seemed to limit max power but not affect accelartion. Has this changed?

This time you are wrong! ;)

Furai now has proper taillights.
Frame-rate improved.
Reflections improved.
Light reflections on standard cars improved (more shiny).
Shadows improved, but not in all tracks.
Headlights now finally lighten the road, not only walls.
Cockpit view position changed to some cars (F40, NSX), now it's like in GT5P.
Savegame file-size changed.

All I can remember now.

I'm sure they changed some things... it just sucks that we have to play detective to figure it out - I've heard many things about this patch that simply aren't true. How can you be sure the shadows and reflections improved? Does anyone have before & after pics?

I wish they'd just tell us what they did, why is that so hard?

An update I have noticed, that nobody else has, is that now, when your in the car settings menu, you can quickly drop down between shopping carts for clutch/flywheel/lsd etc, without having to go back over to the left hand side to choose the next category :)

I kind of noticed that drafting is nerfed. Meaning it is less useful unlike original, when you can draft from a mile away and catch up :( Now it is more realistic feeling!

this is a great convenience!

Some people are reporting that Thrustmaster Ferrari F430 driving wheel isn't working anymore with GT5.

now when you go to community and select a player on your friends list, when you scroll down the column to lounge you cursor goes to the orange icon before the lounge icon.

I am glad that they have finally optimised game code for stable framerate and reduced HDR effect to be almost unnoticeable and much more natural. But where's some DLC tracks and cars? They seem to abandoned it completely.

As always we need to wait...I think they not very happy to provide DLC, because they can save it for GT6 and make money. Also they make this game and are sure that they put huge amount of content.

All I can say definitely is that good game is never enough!!!

The flickering bug on SSR7 seems to be fixed. (The walls were flickering heavily in bumper and cockpit-view, but not in external views)

I just drove in practice mode with no flicker whatsoever for the first time.

Can someone confirm?

You are not longer able to save replay from 2 player race in arcade mode. My WrongGear is doomed ;(

The sense of car movements in interior view are now very good. Probably thanks by more fps i think. Before i played in bumber cam. Now it's so great to drive in car view. You feel when car is going sideways or loosing grip. 👍👍👍

Is it just me, but it seems that PD is fixing things in the game that I do not even notice to be problems?

PD thinks: What lousy graphics we put in the game, we must now put all effort make them better.
I think: Could we just get one old track from GT4 like tahiti maze.

For me it is way more important to improve the graphics to a state that they work flawless and then content can follow.

They pretty much sorted the tearing and bad shadows out and improved the fps stability. Cudos to them, because nearly no other developer does this on the consoles. They either just patch bugs or bring content.

Updated to 1.12 from 1.10 last night and noticed paint chips taking longer to load, and cursor sitting still longer when switching between menus.👎 That is the most frustrating part of the game for me. Wait for screens to load, then you have to wait for "saving file", then you have to wait for the cursor. I don't know about the rest of you but I find myself tapping the D-pad continously until the damn thing moves.:banghead:

I haven't been paying attention to the shadows much but I ran the Tsukuba event in the Eunos Roadster seasonal and the shadows for that car looked pretty good, a lot less jaggies then I remember but it could have been like this.

This.^

It would be nice to provide a list of what EXACTLY was fixed or tweaked for that matter in these subsequent patches that they were nice enough to do in prior patches like 1.10.👍

Shadows improved, but not in all tracks.

Are you talking about track shadows? (like trees and stuff) or Car shadows on certain tracks?

I've been using the Mazda 787b and i see the same jaggies on the Nurburgring 24h.

Cheers.

One thing I'm pretty sure, the hands of the driver (I or Bob) now turn a little bit more than 90°, like 95° and there is a little lag compare to what I'm doing with my G27.
I quite sure it wasnt there with 1.10

Cockpit shadows. They are depended on track. If there weather/time changes shadows are worst of all. Night/night time tracks has perfect shadows. Tsukuba/Tokyo good too. GT4 tracks (Laguna Seca, Trial Mountain, Deep Forest etc...) has bad shadows.

They are depended on car too (GTR - good, Ferrari F1/California/Ford GT bad etc...) - depended on casting angle.
If you want to see real jaggy shadows take F2007 and compare them to GT5P.

Gotcha.

👍

It's just a fix for TGTT seasonal, I wouldn't expect anything to get better or worse with 1,1 MB patch. They even don't call it 1.13, they call it 1.12.56 or something.
