Alright, guys, welcome aboard. We need to discuss exactly how times will be verified here in the GTP Leaderboard. Here's my proposal, you can use this testing leaderboard as a guide:

The user can click on the "Verified" text, and they'll be taken to a page which explains the verification process. Once they’ve decided they’d like to have their time verified, they will fill out a form and submit it. This form will then generate a post with all of the required information in a special forum on GTPlanet, and they can attach their replay to the post or link to it at another location. Then, committee members (you) can easily see the new threads and verify or deny them, and you have room to explain or discuss the time with the member if you like. For now, each time that you verify, you will need to email me a link to the time at a special email address I will give you, and I will change the time’s verification status in the leaderboard.

How does this method sound to everyone? Without creating a custom-made verification script, which would cost more money, I think this system would be very easy for members to understand and easy for you guys to verify times. It’s all in the familiar forum format and you can easily see what other committee members think to help you decide whether or not to verify a time.

I’d like to leave hosting of replays/game info up to each individual user. It would simply be too much trouble for us to handle such a task. At the most, you could organize to have a user email a replay to you. What are everyone’s thoughts, comments, and suggestions on this method?

I like it Jordan, nice and simple to keep on top of also with NTSC and PAL verifiers on the committee 👍

I will check daily for any PAL replays that are in need of scrutiny when we are up and running and look forward to GTPDB taking shape, ...... about time too :D

Nice work mate

I'm going to try and post up a couple of times of mine that I have archived, just to test the data entry interface, if that's ok Jordan...

I'm working today, so it'll be later this afternoon.

Ok, I submitted a time into the GT3 database:

Apricot Hill Raceway 1:10.712 RUF 2000 RUF R-GT 1099 MT RR

(This was a time I had previously submitted at GTTimes)

Lots of fields to fill out; I did not make an entry into all of them. Are the setting fields going to dump into a seperate database, or will a time entry that someone submits with all the settings create a huge database entry in the times section?

I did fill out the Red Fields, which I assume are required fields for a submission to be accepted. I also filled out (selected from the drop menu) tire selection, Turbo/Intercooler used.

The drop down menu for car choice is huge! It took me nearly 45 seconds to get the Ruf RGT. Also, it appeared as if every car in the history of the GT series (1,2,3, and 4) was on the list...this could cause some problems if a submitter inadvertantly selects a car for a game version that was not in that version...

Also, I noticed in the GT3 section there didn't appear to be any way to select the Reverse track...did I miss something?

Should we try some various entries in all of the databases for debugging?

Here's another little bug...

I clicked on the time in the entry, and it took me to an edit/delete choice set of menus. I selected Edit (the entry listed MR so I wanted to correct to RR), and when the entry form came up, the car choice had reverted to the AC Cobra...this could also lead to some problems, if a submitter goes to edit an entry and doesn't reselect the correct car.

The good news about the car list is that be highlighting (selecting) the car list menu, one can quickly type the first two letters of the car you want and the list goes directly to the first car that mathces...in this example entry, I typed "RU" and the Ruf 3400 came up. Clicking on the drop down menu, the RGT was now very close and I reslected it.

This all goes into one entry. There will not be a separate settings database of any kind.

There has to be a lot of fields to collect a lot of information. Only the red ones are required.

Yes, it is the comprehensive list. I was a little disappointed with it, but it really shouldn't be that big of a deal. Just let that be something to take note of whenever you verify a time.

I'll have to add these...

Which browser are you using? This should revert to the last car you used.

I'm using an old Mac G3 on OS 9.2 and IE 5.1...hardware limitations prevent me from upgrading to OSX and the latest IE for Mac.

I hope to have an XP Windowbox on line in the next couple of weeks, so maybe that'll solve the issue.

OK, like in my post in the main forum, I won't be able to get this up and running until next week due to my vacation. If you guys have any more thoughts or comments on the system please post them! :)

Is there any way to have the drivetrain layout keyed to the car selected? That seems to avoid one level of mistakes as well. Though if we're accepting hybrid times, there would be now way to indicate that I'm using Uncle Bob's AWD PT Cruiser, I suppose.

And I was gratified to note that I've got a couple tenths on NQ at Apricot Hill!
;)
