Ever thought Amar doesn't know all these feature details?

Is it me alone or I am sure everyone in this forum would like another criptic message this time about weather, damage, if the time will change in a 24hr race and any other cool stuff. Come on AMAR give us one message every week until E3 just to keep us thinking about GT5.

Well, I'm with you bro...👍

I think it's safe to say that amar will provide us with any solid information about GT5 as soon as it surfaces, whichever way he may take.

Picking on 3 cars are we? What about the 7 million Skylines, 550,000 RX7s and even the 23,000 MX5s? Those were pathetic excuses for multiple cars, whereas the Zondas were all different.

At least its not like ferrari challenge where 23 different paint jobs on the 430 challenge count as different cars :)

People are assuming that "30 nights before 12 months pass" is referring to the 12 months of this year. It might be 12 months from now, putting it at a global release in March 2010.

Both interpretations are possiable and have been discussed, however given the size its understandable if you missed it.

👍

Yeah, what a load of crap that was! :dunce: Going by that logic, Gran Turismo would have like a million cars. :D

My big qualm (and I'm sure some others have mentioned it in this thread) is the track count. When I hear 100 tracks, I know that means more like 40. All GT original tracks have a forward and reverse version counting as two tracks (and I HATE the whole reverse track bulls**t) and then for many of the real life tracks there are multiple variants.

Still, if there are 40 or 50 completely unique tracks available day 1, that will be spicy.

I've felt the same way and found this when I was looking for a list of all the GT tracks. This includes the tracks from TT as well and a quick count was 80 tracks without the reverse variants.

It doesn't include Madrid or Indy either but it mentions Sepang as a future track? That's the first I've heard of that, anyone else know anything about Sepang being in GT5?

  • Having the option of racing a track in either direction > only being able to race in one direction

BTW: Unless it's an oval, a reverse track offers an entirely new experience (which is also why many real life tracks will run reverse layout races)... unless all you care about is having a new background scenery.

  • Having the option of racing real life varients of real life tracks > only having one layout for a real life track that in real life has multiple layouts

Other than getting caught up in numbers... what exactly is there to hate about having more options, especially when many of them are based on real life options? :odd:

Also, for those that are already whining about having 'only' 600 or so cars... and that they are going to be right fully ticked if all of their 'favorite' cars from GT4 are not in GT5... may I suggest you simply hold on to your copy of GT4, and if your PS3 is not backward compatible, hold on to your PS2.

Personally speaking, I would actually be more pleased if the majority of the cars are new to the series. After all, even if GT5 comes out this December, it's going to be five years and counting since they released GT4... and since that time there have been some truly remarkable cars, not to mention all the great cars over the many years that have not made it to the GT series yet.

I suspect the majority of cars will be models that were in GT4, but I hope we see a lot more cars that are new to the series. 👍

Question - will come in a form already known ?

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. It's already known. What are the chances that Prologue will be announced as the lesser of the GT5 games, where you will be able to download the content you want ? While at the same time the full blown version of the game is released ?

Just a thought. 💡

PSP version = lesser
PS3 = Greater

My thoughts

Good point. Actually if you think of it, there are a lot of cars in GT5 Prologue that are much newer than 2005 or 2006 models, which make them completely new to the series. Example: Corvette C6 ZO6, the new Mazda 6, Nissan GTR, EVO X, the newest WRX STi, and of course, all of the Ferrari's are new to the series.

If we get Lambo, Porsche, and Bugatti for example, plus any of the new sweet cars that are part of the manufacturers that we've already had in the series, that's probably going to take up a good majority of the car count. I'm not complaining at all though.

Some notable cars that come to my mind from manufacturers we've already got could be cars like the Saleen S7 Twin Turbo (one of my personal favorites of all time), the new Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro, Corvette ZR1, plus a lot of the new LM cars like the Audi R15, the new Peugeots, and more Ferrari's like the F430 Scuderia, F50, or more racing versions of the road cars, etc. You get the idea.

Yes, as others have mentioned, hopefully PD will realize that they do have a global market to attend to, and that a ton of skylines, RX-7's, or miatas wouldn't be as good as having one or 2 of those models from different years...R32, R33, R34, GTR, etc. Don't get me wrong, the more cars the better, as long as everyone gets some equal treatment.

As long as it's got a lot of race cars I'm happy.

Even since prologue we've had quite a few new high spec models eg

Nissan GTR Spec V
Chevrolet Corvette ZR1
Ferrari F430 Scuderia
Nissan 370Z
2010 Ford Mustang
Mazda RX8 (facelift)

and more

All these are updated versions of what we got as current top trim versions at the time of prologues release.

"Third tale says that for the first time ever skypaths will not be just solid and already known but that new skypaths will be built by birdtamers from the parts of existing skypaths."

Could this mean that on a road course we could smash through field gates etc and create new short cut routes along the track?

That's not racing, that has NFS written all over it... I hope not :yuck:

I think you mean '10 Mustang. The '09 had the old sheetmetal.

RacingFreak2k3,

One of my biggest disappointments with GT4 was how bad the Saleen S7 handled. I hope that if PD includes the S7TT in Gt5 they actually make it the best of a car it is.

Pretty much all the supercars handled like boats with sports tyres fitted.

Yeah I agree....it seemed quick on the straights, but in comparison to the documentaries I've seen on the S7, the game doesn't seem to do it justice for the technology that it has. Yes it's American, and I know we get flack for cars that can't turn, but along with the Ford GT, it's one of the best, if not the best sports/super car ever created in the U.S. IMO.

The S7 was designed (apart from the body, and the [ford] engine ) by RML in Britain. I also hesitate to tell you that once again that the GT40 was designed in the UK aswell (it's basically a Lola with a Ford V8).

It will be 600 cars that are in GT5 and won't be removed. Then there could possibly be 100-200 cars halfway there-finalizing/seeing if it would fit/should be in GT5, then in the 6-11 months till realease there could be anouther 50-100 more cars....That gives you 750-900 cars -.-
There could also be tracks that are being finalised that could take track count to 130+ (including reverse+vairiants) -.-
So I don't know what you're whining about, for me 500+ cars and 70+ tracks is enough. The rest is you a bonus.
If it has livery editor that's almost an unlimited number of cars, since you can have billions of combinations, which will make every car look different (and feel different if there's a lot of performance upgrades).

I'm curious about the size of all the data, and whether or not GT5 will even fit on one 50GB Blu-ray disc (equivalent to about 7 DVDs).

I was talking with a friend of mine yesterday about it and assuming the data capacity is greater than 50GB, what some of the possible solutions could be.

One was that GT5 would come out on two discs, one, that you would install a significant amount of data to your hard drive, and the other would be for playing the game, thus you would not have to swap discs... but you would need the space on your HDD.

Another was that perhaps we'll have to download a very large update immediately after loading the game... but this could be a problem for some, who believe it or not, don't have an internet connection, and who only play offline.

I suppose if need be, like GT2, they could split the discs as far as simulation and arcade... and that might help.

At the very least, I'm going to be very curious to see how large in terms of data GT5 turns out to be, and how much HDD space it will need.

GT5P isn't exactly anorexic, even without any GTTV videos downloaded.

Well i doubt its needed but there are BDs with up to 8 layers and yes, the PS3 can read them.

I'm not complaining about the multiple variants of real life tracks, that's great. I'm just 50/50 on whether it makes sense to call the same track with and without a chicane two tracks. It is, but it isn't.

I know you'll bang me with 347 examples, but I have never actually heard of any road courses being regularly run in both directions.

The reverse thing always bothered me in GT because I couldn't get myself to care about or even practice the reverse versions, then I have problems in the odds and ends races that are run on reverse courses. Call me lazy, it's just my opinion.

^Same here. Whenever I race in a reverse course in GT4, other than Costa Di Amalfi, High-Speed Ring and Citta Di Aria, which I know like the back of my hands, I have a tough time if the AI's cars are faster than mine.

And that's what makes reverse tracks so worth while.. as they offer a new experience and require a new understanding of each apex... just like a new course... except without a change of scenery. :)

Yeah, only 600+ cars in HD with detailed interiors. Damn that sucks! ;)

Exactly.. personally I think anyone who buys all 600 is either mental or has a lot of time on their hands... and plus there's going to be like 70 skylines and 40 supras...

Edit: Have you guys heard anything about bikes? I think that could be integrated quite nicely... but of course it's a car game... so I don't know.

Second wind says there will be more than half of dozen hundreds birds flying in the beginning of the reunion on almost eight dozen of skypaths, and some of the birds will come from the past reunion just resembling the looks of the newborn birds.

If some of the cars will come from GT4, then, this could mean that most of them will be new cars in the series. At least thats my interpretation.
I would like to see something like 200/250 cars from GT4 and 350/400 cars that never appeared before. Like Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, more BMW & Mercedes models, recent race cars (2004-2009), etc.
