Edit;Now that's crashed aswell
Gamersyde have the first footage up direct from Gamescom, and whilst wed be foolish to judge a game from a 30fps off-screen shakycam its clear that theres little changed since the (admittedly already wildly impressive) Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, albeit were now on the (new to GT 5) Tokyo track. Yes, damage looks a bit more realistic but theres still the odd issues with screen tearing and overall it makes us sad to say theres nothing to really get too excited about, yet. Lets hope for a direct feed movie from Sony at some point this week.
Its on youtube if you wanna see it: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=gamescom+gt5+gameplay&search_type=&aq=f
I find this quite amusing

We were wrong - GT5 playable on the show floor, complete with damage (gasp!)
Confirmation tweet from IGN, it is GT5.

Why was there a need for that?
I personally felt it was GT5, but it ends the debate once and for all!

Maybe it's driven with automatic gears? Who knows..
It's an STI, at least I think it's an STI, which does not have an auto.
But GT does have an option for auto... Perhaps they don't bother with hand animations if you pick AT?

Yes but 'maybe', when you select automatic gears in GT5, it makes all the cars auto gears as well.In a way that would be even dumber, because it's more likely to get the animations in sync with the shifts if it's set to auto
