This is what sixaxis has to say, not that it really matters......

Gamersyde have the first footage up direct from Gamescom, and whilst we’d be foolish to judge a game from a 30fps off-screen shakycam it’s clear that there’s little changed since the (admittedly already wildly impressive) Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, albeit we’re now on the (new to GT 5) Tokyo track. Yes, damage looks a bit more realistic but there’s still the odd issues with screen tearing and overall it makes us sad to say there’s nothing to really get too excited about, yet. Let’s hope for a direct feed movie from Sony at some point this week.

Maybe this is or maybe this is not the place to ask, but why doesn't the driver in the "new gameplay footage" video ever shift the car? Even if it's paddle shifters his hands never move. I found it really weird to watch.

It's an STI, at least I think it's an STI, which does not have an auto.

But GT does have an option for auto... Perhaps they don't bother with hand animations if you pick AT?

In a way that would be even dumber, because it's more likely to get the animations in sync with the shifts if it's set to auto

in progolue the hands are glued to the steering wheel on flappy pedals/auto and are taken off like you would imagine on a normal shifter. The hand will be moving and resting on the shifter when you are nearing the rev-shift-point
 
1.53 on the vid it seams that when he crashes something white gets in front of the car.. that means the environment is deformable :)

Yes but 'maybe', when you select automatic gears in GT5, it makes all the cars auto gears as well.
That may not seem too realistic but could be the easy way out for PD.
 
I see Che Chou is buttering up Amar now at neogaf offering a early copy of FM3, Che must be aware of Amar's powers! :D
