The worst thing about GT5 is the players.

I wouldn't go and say that the people are the worst but I have to agree with where he is going with his topic. Yes fast cars are fun and entertaining but getting your friends together in a private lobby and having the same Lupo with the same mods on any track (Nurburgring is a fun one) is a blast!!! It comes down to skill and how you setup said car. This involves drafting and being aware of your friends braking times in corners and where to pass, either inside, outside or brake late in a corner on the outside and take the inside on the exit of the apex.

If you are always wining because you have the fastest car, you will never upgrade your driving skills. Try taking a car even if it is faster then your friends, try staying behind him through the whole race without bumping him when he brakes or takes an odd race line on a sharp turn.

I don't mind coming in 2nd as long as i'm beefing up my skills and learning my opponents.

Cheers

Cars too fast? Lmao. People running for their best car? People wanting to win? This is a racing game. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Sell your slow car and buy a real one. Playing online is where you showcase your car. There is no rewards in it. No money gained. People cars are too fast! They only want to drive the race cars. Unbelievable.

Its called organized competition. You expect too much from the masses of noobs and idiots to play competitively unless you organize races through forums(or something similar) with a community that wants the same level of competition you do. Doesnt this website have some sort of weekly race series? If not we could create a sort of tournement or league. Just saying, figured I'd give some realistic insight instead of letting another thread go to 50 pages or pointless complaining...

The only bad thing about gt is the players.

I see someone complain because they enter a FGT in the GV 300km endurance because they are lapping Wrx etc and find it boring...

Gt has become about using the fastest car to cream the opposition..
Give somebody a rewind feature, people will use it. Give somebody the ability to use a car of any power, people will do. That's NOT the players fault, that's the fault of PD for giving us a poor game design. They should either force limits on races and adjust the AI accordingly based on the car, power, and difficulty level.

They used to have that in GT, but then the whining squad complained that the game was too hard. So... * POOF! * the challenge has gone! 👍

The leveling system in Forza 3 just works - very well indeed. Sure, it's not always perfect and some races are won by a wide margin (or lost by the same), but I've had way more fun races with Forza 3 than I ever did when I had GT5.

Regarding leaderboards.. Wouldn't having them aggravate the OP's original problem? Some people competing when an online rank is involved will use the absolute fastest/lightest/best car to be as high up on the leaderboard as possible.
As for me, I just want to enjoy driving my street tuned car through the nurburgring without having to worry about a Castrol TOM's Supra running me off the road. :)

Lastly, online... Everyone always just brings the fastest car... I imagined evos, Wrx, skylines, silvias, rx7, ae86 all battling but even when I use all the restrictions people just turn up in full blown race cars right on the hp limit and kg limit. I started a JDM Street Car race online and some w***** reckons his awesome in the minolta. This will become even worse with cash rewards...

That sounds like you unintentionally played "A-Spec" Mode.
Things like this almost always happen there...

And the people complaining about exp. Man, if u do every challenge for your level, including special events, I see no problem with leveling. It's the lvl 27-30 that could use an event or two.

I mostly agree with the first point except that I do not see all players being whiners and complainers, most probably love the game. It's just these few VOCAL whiners that fill up the forums with wa-wa-wa this wa-wa-wa that. It's pathetic!

"The game is so easy" .... stop using your stealth car on clubman races!

This whining threads just get to me, put all your complaints and whining on the general whining thread otherwise known as "who else is dissapointed in GT5". Stop creating new ones unless it is some constructive comment!

Stop using the word fail, unless you are 2 years old and just learned the word and your using it for everything. Fail this, fail that w... t... f... .

Please post something that requires an ounce of thought, or it will make you look like you have the IQ of a slug. The old " I cannot form an intelligent thought", so Ill troll the poster with the holier then thou write properly BS. You that insecure you have to try and build self esteem by whining about writing on the internet? Pathetic to say the least. I'm not dumbing down my posts for you.

When you signed up you agreed to the AUP which says you'll use good grammar and spelling in your posts. You've failed to do that and someone tried to give you advice politely. Now you've gone and treated them like garbage, too. I bet the mods are going to love you calling the AUP "BS". So why not just calm down and try enjoying yourself rather then spewing negativity all the time?

I'm doing this, but I'm playing the game in stages. I wanna "complete" the single player GT Life, build up my 100 favorite cars all the way, and then enjoy racing online and split screen with friends.

The best cars are the ones you enjoy the most, if thats the fastest cars then so be it. Some of my favourite real life cars would be the Mclaren F1, Ferrari 512BB, Ferrari F10.

Tuned Japanese cars battling isnt what GT is about, as the original had american and british cars also. And too many skylines is because people are missing their favourite cars and instead getting 40 skylines.

I like skylines but its a valid arguement that the game leaves out many cars and had loads of others. There isnt a late 90s premium Supra in the game, yet there are a whole bunch of premium skylines.

I don't mind creaming the AI because you can lose a race due to the AI taking you out, so I'll aways end up using a faster car, because the AI is ****!!

Forza 3 had better racing if you want race! The AI are clean and you have a set Level of car you can use. GT5 is just about racking up money to buy the top cars for me. That was made evident when I tried to race and got taken out for no reason! Shame but they have a lot of work to do before GT6!

The worst part of the game is the level system not the players. I mean if the endurance races were about money rather than xp, xp that when you hit level 30 gets you the chance to get the most overpowered cheat car in the whole game. That encourages people to get it done faster rather than look for a a good hard 4 hour plus race.

If GT5 is a chore, there's always the other game.

AIs haven't been a problem for me, just race cleanly and they seem to play nice as well. If you are not racing in GT5, then you are missing the whole point!

For me, I use single player as a way to learn new lines of a track, or become more efficient at a track. I realize that there is a practice portion of this game, but I'd rather make some money while I drive.

Multiplayer for me is where the real racing happens, not against a computer controlled driver.

That side of it is a shame, most of the problem with slaughtering the AI isnt because you're in a faster car, its because the AI are slow a ****. I beat a Jaguar XJR-9 around lemans in a Mclaren F1 road car.... it should be impossible, but the AI are so slow, it just happens.

Dont blame the players, blame PD for making the AI slow as ****.

online isn't nearly as bad as most of you are making it to be. I've raced numerous time on public games against fairly clean players, and had no trouble finding games with power and weight restrictions. And if you don't find any, just create your own game, set your own rules, kick the idiots yourself. It's really not that hard.

Give me a break. The leveling system in Forza is a joke. I went from level 1 to level 50 in one week and even now a year later have completed less than 50% of the career mode because it is long drawn out and downright boring. Even on the hardest levels driving an equal or lesser car the races are still easy and if you drive what you can then they are extremely easy in more cases than not. The only ones that are even the least bit interesting are the factory spec races and even then you can put lighter wheels on the supposedly stock car and get started on the pole against cars that can not keep up. At least GT starts you behind a few of them so you at least see another car at some point during the race before you lap them.

The career drag races are so bad that I can set it to auto with TCS on and close my eyes mash the throttle to the floor and win every time. It doesn't get any worse than that.

Hot lapping is about all there is in Forza 3. Granted I enjoy hot lapping and the leaderboards are cool but I absolutely hate being forced to do it in AWD modded cars in order to get a top time.

Forza 2 was so much better in almost every way.

I had more fun in my first online race in GT5 than I have had over the last year playing Forza 3. Forza 2 was a different story as they actually had a good online system and the career mode at least had leaderboards.

Edit: I should add that the private lobbies in Forza 3 were a good addition it's just a shame that they don;t allow you to make them open to the public. It gets really old racing the same people over and over again and most of my die hard Forza 2 playing buddies jumped ship long ago from Forza 3.

Edit 2: Also the buddies that are left have taken the ranking system so seriously that they have forgotten how to just race and have fun. So worried about loosing thier ranking, not wanting to race certian cars on certian tracks for fear of loosing a ranking point and such. It really is just one big downer. Forza 2 had an unranked option where you could just go out and race for fun and it was a lot more fun. We would get out and drive anythign and everything every where tuning our cars as we go. GT5 has brought back some of what Forza 3 took away. Now if only they would give us some leaderboards and credits online.

No where in the Agreement does it mention spelling/Grammar, LMAO. Also, there was nothing wrong with it to begin with, maybe learn to read?

The dude's a douche. Joined on the 15th and hasn't had anything positive to say since. But like I said it's much easier to come online and complain than to simply return or sell the game.

But back on topic. Once you go online in any game you're going to find obnoxious players. Trust me these players aren't going to kill the game. Between GTP and the amount of friends that have this game I'm not going to have any problem getting good competitive online racing and I'm sure a lot of people are the same. Heck even back in the GT3 and GT4 days before online GTP was running some great competitive race series. Yeah people are going to bring their fastest cars to race online, it's only natural to want to win but there are ways around it.
Yeah, because blaming everything on the customer (The Gamer) like the Op is brilliant. More like raging fanboyism. PD is the sole cause, no one else.

Players online will ultimately be what kills this game... Everyone will be in the same car and most of the cars will be wasted. The slow (relative) cars are the best and most rewarding to drive... The fd rx7 and Silvia are too awesome for words..

There IS a difficulty setting.. It's in the choice of cars you use and whether you turn on the assists.. Try turning off the assists and using cars like the rx7... You'll get so much more from the game..

I take it you've never been to any games I hosted nor played with most of the people who are in the series I ran.

i don't mind creaming the ai because you can lose a race due to the ai taking you out, so i'll aways end up using a faster car, because the ai is ****!!

+1

they way I see it, GT Life mode is preparation for Online. I build a car that will slaughter the competition, because I couldn't care less about AI. I build cars to race online. Just get the damn career mode done with, so I can have a shedload of money to build cars to race online.

Most racing games start out like this, the kids will vanish soon once there is a new call of warcraft they have to beat in two weeks, then hopefully the people who just enjoy racing will be left to enjoy it in peace.

Pesky kids..

I agree. I had some fun races in GT5. For example I was racing in Tuned Car Championship between my unmod (except oil change) Ferrari 458 Italia '09 with soft sport tires vs Amuse S2000 Gt1 Turbo. I was ahead in the championship at SSR5 but felt the pressure of Amuse car on my tail and screwed up on the last lap. I came in second which tied us up. The last track R246 the Amuse S2000 was too fast and won the race and championship. This was some of the best racing I've had with an AI in any sim in a while.

So far i've only raced online with friends and we've had a blast.

Just give it a few months and all these players that just use the fastest car possible will be gone. All of us who enjoy racing similar HP cars and having close clean racing will still be here. 👍

Worst thing about Gt5 is blind fanboys like the OP, this game has no excuse for lacking in so many areas after 5 years, this is the Ps3 flagship, LMAO.

Congratulations. You've earned an infraction.

Scaff has mentioned this in another thread, but it bears repeating. Any jab taken at another member or group, dismissing their opinions and labelling them as fanboys will be considered as "hateful" and "abusive" behavior and will count as a violation of the AUP. You have been warned.

Every further use of "fanboy", "fanboy-ism" and "raging fanboyism" from you regarding another member will be met with points. Fill up your quota and you get shipped to Siberia.

No where in the Agreement does it mention spelling/Grammar, LMAO. Also, there was nothing wrong with it to begin with, maybe learn to read?

Says you.

https://www.gtplanet.net/aup/

You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.

While I don't see anything particularly wrong with exceptionally long sentences, bear in mind that shortcuts like LOL and LMAO are considered text-speak. Be mindful of that. Be mindful also that if you've re-registered simply to cause more trouble, then we will simply have to ban you all over again, capiche?

-----

At everyone else: Any further jabs taken at other members will be met with action. If you see or suspect an AUP violation, you can simply report it. (And for those who do... thank you) ;)
