Indeed - the Ka has one of the finest handling chassisesesees of any car in it's class - and indeed any FF car. Okay, so being based on the MkIV Fiesta, that doesn't come as a shock. :D

But that just makes this crime all the more heinous - you have a perfectly competant car, and they try and dress it up with bodykit to make it something it's not. It IS a small, fun, economical car. It's NOT a boy-racer-mobile, which seems to be their target audience.

And yes, the 1.3 from the Ka is basically the engine from the Ford Anglia.

Interestingly, Ford had a Car Focus Group, to come up with names for their new cars. They came up with "Ka" and, err, "Focus"...

Not terribly far off - the Crown Victoria's running on a platform from 1979, and there hasn't been a major change to the E-series/Econoline/Club Wagon in at least fifteen years. No wonder they're losing money fast.

They're going to lose the police contract too - the next Intrepid ('05) is going to be rear-drive, effectively making the Crown Victoria (and its 10-year-old main body style) redundant.

Look for the Ford Group to debut next.

For 2005 and 2006 the US will supposedly be getting the Ford Cross-Trainer and Ford Five Hundred. Evidently they had no such focus group for the US.
