Optomuscrime and myself were on the Touge for the last 4 hours chillin...talking about a big new project that we're bringing to GTPlanet that will engulf all other touge-related things on this site and GT5 as a whole.

It's gonna be big!

I think I know what the poject is.

Glad you did this tune I will try it out tomorrow and give a review. Any word on a tournament for Sunday?

Cool, if you please, write a short review for it 👍
Sunday's tournament isn't gonna happen; It will be delayed until the next Sunday. But I'll still be hosting a lobby doing Cone-Killer matches and Touge Battle Stage. The reason why is because we haven't finished the last few matches from the last tournament because of people's schedules. Since I'm recording the footage for my show, I can't jump from one tourney to the other.

The legacy of the Rotary engine sets the bar high for the RX-8, especially after the success and popularity of the RX-7 Spirit R. Tuned for the winding mountain pass roads, this car is no slouch. Being one of the fastest vehicles on the touge isn't easy and equipped with a supercharger for low-mid range torque this car is extremely dangerous if not handled with care. Precise throttle control coupled with equally stringent steering will net you the checkered flag every time. No spoiler? Why? BE A MAN!!! Can you handled the Sandrock Rotary? or will you be caught in it's hooks mid-corner... test your might!

What better way to escape your civic duties than to runaway to the mountains in a Type R Honda!? Plenty of power for the lightweight chassis and a bit of ballast for increased traction and maneuverability.

oops, that ballast was before the Window Weight Reduction. It was legal until i did that. I've adjusted ballast and power limiter accordingly now: -3kg and -0.02% respectively.

It's still overweight for LotS regulation though mate. From the LotS rules, "Ballast use - 5% of total car weight" A fully weight reducted Civic Type R '97 weighs 888kg, 5% of that is 44.4kg.

ok, then let me do some math.
this mystery will NOT go unsolved!

edit:
OK. done, and done!
It's a good thing this car's powerband is a thing of beauty, so it isn't hurt much by the extra weight and limited power. balance is key. the 5-round battle i had with SK's Roadster at Usui Pass I was running Comfort Soft on it. I didn't know so until after the loss - a lesson learned, but also a new light shone on this car's potential.

FF's at lower pp are ideal. It didn't need all that weight anyway, just saw it and was trying to help you out bro.

help is always welcome but the extra weight at that setting helps keep the car stable during left-foot braking - moreso than without it. different styles; different methods. TCB's setups aren't for everyone. If this car had a simpler setup, it would've garnered itself a "Novice" tag. It received an "Advanced" tag because even though it's low PP, you can get soooo much more out of it if you apply advanced techniques while driving it. After all, it is built for the touge.

feedback isn't only welcome, it's encouraged. don't feel bad about speaking your mind

Re-tuned with downforce for a better grip as well as uprated suspension for improved handling.
I used the Stock Exhaust because i preferred the original exhaust tone over the aftermarket exhausts for this car.

This tune is unreal!
The 458 handles so beautifully on Nurburgring, its just crazy!
Once you hit the gas, you can see everyone behind you in your rear-view mirror :sly: Thanks for the tune!

86GT (S.Shigeno '12 Ver.)

REVIEW

After the first curve to the command of SS 2012 I realized that this is one of the fastest tuning for road use I've ever experienced. Very stable during braking, can maintain a lot of speed during cornering. However, the corner exit is only perfect if we reach the apex and accelerate the right time, not early nor too late, and we keep the same gear almost to engine limit. During corner approach, it demmands to ballance the car weight to the rear, not for maintaining speed during the process, but to find the right and fastest line to exit at full throttle.
A second consideration about exiting a corner is the car understeering character. After reach the apex, depending if the right ballance was achieved aproaching it, need is tofind the exact moment accelerate out of it. Too soon and you'll get understeer, leaving you no choice but leave the throttle for a milisecond tho regain composure, with the addicional cost of loosing some speed at such crucial moment.
Third, in straights it seems faster to change gear before rev limit. As the rpm reach the rev limit, the engine seems to gain speed at a slower pace.

At Tsukuba, where i first drove it, it seems wonderfull, tho, allowing to accelerate very soon, exiting corners, and retrieving a 1:04,078 sec lap time.
At Serra da Freita, my home course for LotS, showed the understeer character exiting, leaving no choice than ballance the car before, touching the apex with the nose already pointed to the next straight. After 8 laps, the handling was very consistent with first laps, as well as the lap times, showing great composure with tyre wear, althought front tyres were in worst condition. THis makes the S.S. 2012 one of the best 450pp for touge, considering the tyre wear in longer CMSD battles.

A great setup, hat off to Shadow!! Its easy to drive fast even for rookies, but to drive at a winning level, it demands good skills and a good understanding of this setup. For rookies, i dare to reccomend some rear ballast, to get the weight dist. to 51/49. For higher level drivers, if you do the right approach to corners, you will be able to exit at full throttle with total confidence on rear tyres grip and total absence of oversteer!! 👍

Oh, im looking forward to drive this baby with steering wheel, I think it will be even faster and easyer to ballance and exit at full throttle. ;)
