I don't understand why they put the driver position under the hood.

Well, I agree about the cheap marketing, everybody can get a decent pair of boobs for some money to shoot some pictures. There are cockpits that are $8000, wth???

Nah, this is for people that have a lot of money and they need everything expensive no matter whether its worth it or not, there are not many guys of this type here I guess.

I find this sentiment a lot and it couldn't be further from the truth. Does anyone ever think that maybe some people don't have the talent or time to do such things? I am by no means rich, but I can afford to buy a cockpit because A. I don't have the time to make my own. B. I don't want 2x4 wood in my home no matter how well painted it is. C. I don't care if its cheap, hell I wish my visionracer cost me $50. I think people don't have a grasp of how and why people buy things like VisionRacer or Human GT. Painting us as evil doers and posers which couldn't be farther from the truth.

People that don't have the money for a boutique rig does that make them any more of a race fan than someone who does? No it doesn't. It also doesn't mean that people that can't afford a boutique rig say "I want everything cheap". They may want one but can't afford it, there is nothing wrong with that. Just like there isn't anything wrong with people who buy a boutique rig.

The boutique rigs have an advantage as someone has already done the engineering for you, basically purchase and have fun. I don't see how this is something bad. Yet always people who buy boutque rig is stupid, or poser. I just think this is bullshat.

my .02 cents

Everyone here that doesnt have something even more expensive would take this rig in a sec if they were given it and had a place for it, and if they say they wouldnt theyre full of it, but those who cant afford it will try and build it themselves on the cheap, and thats okay too

^^^Yes. My point being that everytime someone buys a complete rig they are called stupid or "why not make it out of wood"

I wouldn't take it.

Too small for me.

What I'm trying to say is that I'm willing to pay for something when the price equals to the value of things I'm getting. No need to make it out of wood, plastic or chocolate...

But what I don't like is when people put a pair of boobs on something and double the price with no reason.

I was checking the equipment of one of the rigs that is $8000 and the rough cost to build that thing is no way more than $3000, so $5000 goes to what - research and development?

Anyway, you guys can buy anything you want and pay any money for it, same as you Mayman, just my couple of cents.

Boobs arent cheap these days...

See, that's why it's great if the missus came with them.

Anyway, ilonioum has a point. Every rig has it's price, it might be worth it or not. However, I guess lots of rigs can be built on your own and might even be better since they'll be tailored to your exact needs.

He does have a point but I never said I was going to buy the over inflated rig with steering wheel, pedals, and what not that aren't even as good as what I have. Now we're getting into a specific instance when my comment was more to the general consensus and feeling people have toward boutique rigs.

Remember that what someone pays is relative. To you that 8000 dollar rig may be overpriced, and it may well be. But to someone who is looking just for that it might not be if they can afford it. Is a Bently worth $300,000? No. But it doesn't mean it doesn't present a value to people who can afford it. Its all relative.

many might think I'm a tool for buying a VisionRacer. While that may be, it was the rig I wanted, with the look I wanted, and the modding ability I wanted. I paid what I thought it was worth, to me. Again relative as many will think the VR3 is crap. Thats fine, because to you it may be.

And as far as him charging 8000 for something that costs him 3000 is a little silly. He has to make them, have a facility to sell them, store them, employees, insurance, etc, etc, etc. I mean, sometimes I wonder if people think about this. this guy isn't getting rich off this, and he has a passion for what he does. I think the world of our hobby is better off for people like this who provide such services. Or should everything be made of wood?

;)
