About the '91 MR2 Turbo

sig.jpg

- when they see the Turbo badge: "A turbo?! Didn't knew they had a turbo version?!"

- when I lift up the front bonnet: "Where's the engine?!"

- when I lift up the trunk: "Where's the engine?!"

- how many miles per gallon does it get?

- what? Only 2 seats?!

- how fast have you ever driven it?

- how many HP has it got?

- diesel? (:odd:)

- "what year is it?" Then when I tell them it's 20 years old they are like: "Yeah riiiiight"

- now serious, what year is it really?!

I have a 1995 Chevrolet Camaro, sorry but no pic. I've been told it's too low (it's stock) and that it is shaped like a boat...

That's pure gold.

Yeah, it is pretty funny sometimes.

I got a look at the first post and realized I missed the part about naming/posting a picture of the cars. I was in a bit of a rush the first post, so I will post a few more comments I've heard.

"I can tell it's got a cam in it." (I usually want to reply, "It wouldn't run very well if it didn't now would it?")
"What is that whining sound?" (In reference to the Muncie M22)
"What kind of engine do you have in that thing?"
"Is it a real SS?" (I get that all the time)
"Is that car an LS6?"
"They didn't put 454's in those cars."

1971 Chevelle Malibu

"That is an ugly vehicle."
"Nice car, dude."
"Sounds good."
"What is that whining sound? (Same transmission as the '70 has)

I'm sure there have been other nuggest of wisdom since I started driving them.

Not quite mine yet, not old enough. It's my dad's car for now. It gets plenty of comments from passengers.

"Did the car just talk?"
"This is so comfy!"
"Nice car dude."
"Ooooh..."
"This car's so big!"
"Very nice."
"This is the LS, right?"

:dopey:

Dude those porsche's are pretty cool!

(random puerto ricans) Yeah, I used to have one of those!

How often does it break down?

And YSSMAN i like your car

i really want it if you have GT Four version

Thanks for the compliment! Sadly, we didn't get the ST205 in the United States, so mine is a standard North American-spec GT. That means it has the 2.2L 5S-FE from the Camry, good for 135 BHP. All things considered, the chassis tune is spot-on for where it needs to be, but it needs another 30 BHP to be competitive with the Civics and Integras of similar vintage.

beautiful car, sin that are banned in Italy :(

YSSMAN
One of my most memorable moments was going through the drive through at McDonalds and having the clerk as me, "Is that a Ferrari?" and then offering to buy it from me on the spot. Apparently my generous offer was far too much, even for him, the lowly clerk at McDonalds.

Lmao I had a guy offer to buy my old '91 GTI in a McDonalds once... Even that price was too high :lol

This is a running joke at every autocross I take my MR2 (AW11) to. Somebody will walk by it with the hood (and trunk and engine lid) open and "OH MY GOD SOMEBODY STOLE YOUR ENGINE!"

Also, a rather large number of people ask if its front wheel drive...after seeing that its mid-engined.

Any better pics? Looks awsome
He's got a thread in the members rides section.

Saw a third person(since last friday) taking a cell phone pic today, in the parking lot at work. Wondering if I should be worried, since I never saw anyone doing that before, and now I've got people pulling into my job to take pictures of it....

"Yeah boss, I found it. Sending you a picture now...Alright, we'll pick it up tomorrow. He'll never see it coming."

Your car must be more impressive in person.

I own a Gen 1 MX-5 ( '90 Eunos Roadster to be precise) in white. The comments I have range from: Nice car through to the most common "you drive a hairdressers car".

Oh, I forgot to mention the idiots that all drive econoboxes (mostly corsa's) with less than 80hp at my college that keep feeling the need to vandalise my car, so I suppose that's a sort of 'comment' too isn't it? :(
