Saw a thread the other day called “The Things That Annoy You” and it got me thinking. You can wake up and immediately zero in on what’s frustrating you, or you can wake up thinking about what you’re actually grateful for. It’s all perspective, right?

So — why not flip it? What do we actually enjoy about this game?

For me, GT7 is just one of those games where pretty much anyone can find their thing. Single-player, online racing, just collecting cars and never leaving the garage — it’s all there. Hypercars, race cars, road cars, classics, real tracks, fantasy tracks… there’s always something to go down a rabbit hole with.

The driving itself is what really gets me though. Especially once you move to a wheel — it becomes something else entirely. You start actually feeling the car, understanding what it’s doing underneath you, and those moments on track start to feel weirdly real. It stops being “just a game” pretty quickly.

I love the creative side too — building your own livery, running your own number and colors, then taking that out against other people online. Throw in telemetry, the constant little improvements, learning racecraft properly… it’s just genuinely satisfying in a way that’s hard to explain.

And honestly? I’ve met some really great people through it too.

What do you lot appreciate most about GT7? Curious to hear it.

I play GT7 to relax. I mostly play single player, as competitive races require too much concentration when I play in the evening after work. I mostly like medium pp races up to Gr3, there could be more 500-600 pp races in the game.
I really like the cars, especially the older ones, and the real life circuits, especially the Nürburgring and Spa.

I've got some good ones in this thread.

After four years I'll continue to say the Custom Race feature with GT SOPHY, the Group A era road cars, GT AUTO and engine swaps. Anything else in relation to circuits, weather, etc. are standard PD flair with the latest technology.

I'm happy with my purchase.

Great thread!

I 'll say for me it's the dedication and the amount of work their put in the craft of each car. There is no other game where you almost can "feel" the car.
The meticulousness with which they add the paints to the bodywork, how they react to the great lighting engine created by the studio, and how they always try to go further with technology.

I love the sheer number of cars available, allowing you to get lost in them and read their descriptions and reviews to learn about it.

Another thing is the feeling of the cars' weight and how you feel every bump in the track is something that has evolved a lot, especially in this latest installment, and it feels great when you're driving.

The menus designs, the music... very japanese and love it.

The customisation. While other franchises have had it better for years, GT7's customisation is the best it's ever been. Coupled with the performance upgrades as well, you can make your own race car. We all loved it in GT4 when we could upgrade our first car (R32 GTST Type M for me) into a race car, but in GT7 we can now make it look the part as well.

Yes, the different bodyparts that much cars have is awesome too. Love this new "feature". It's really expand the options of the customization.

One thing I appreciate is that you can make the game as easy or as hard as you want to. I recently decided to switch off ABS and traction control and steer with the DualSense motion sensors instead of the stick and it's a whole different game now.

I love the visuals in GT 7. Everything is rendered so beautifully – the lighting, the weather effects, the sun. You can tell from the sunbeams that we’re racing early in the morning without even needing a watch. Everything around the tracks, the cars – it all looks absolutely stunning. And that’s for a game that’s four years old. Visually, nothing comes close to GT7. And that’s why I keep coming back to it. I love it.

To be honest, I think it's incredible the way they have made a product which appeals to so many people in such a mad variety of ways!

Obviously this isn't a personal preference, as I'm just a bread and butter 'buy car, tune car, race' kinda guy. I just think when you dig into the community features you can see the hours people are sinking into this game doing other things! And people still have the temerity to complain their little "thing" isn't in the game!

Compared to other sports game studios which rather pump out yearly "updates", charge full price each time AND have a bunch of features and game modes that are totally deadweight.

This is very easy for me, it's the pick up and play online at any time with drivers very very close to my pace. I do not have a lot of time so the ability to just jump on and be racing is what appeals most. The other big sell is how lovely the game looks, it craps all over everything else I have seen on PS5, and not just racing games.

Too numerous to enumerate, but the insane amount of details.... That's what I find mind boggling.

It's not the perfect game or sim, there are still so much more that can be done, but do you see him giving up or staying on his laurels ?

Sure you could say they have not done enough, but have you seen anyone done as much as they have to the same level....

I am sorry to sound like a fanboi and sure I think I am one, but it would be quite unfair to dismiss the amount of work and effort PD and Kaz have provided since at least 1995 til today and then some....

Right now GT7 is the most popular vR2 gAme on PlayStation Store ...

They have come a very long way, and to be respected in the real automotive community too ..
Enough said...

Edit: the music, jazz, classical, relaxing vibe, since 1997 ! Unequalled Photo mode, and videography, legitimately very professional shots (for those who are in the industry, they will acknowledge it).... The details ! It's not a video game... Pure eye candy all around !
Don't ever stop

I love the overall sandbox feeling of the game; I love that I can take almost any car and modifiy it for a number of different scenarios. Add in the livery editor and I can create any number of historical race cars, and then race them against each other in a custom race. I'm only limited by the imagination.

I think above all, though, I appreciate the diversity of GT7's car list. GT7 was my first foray into the series; before that I was really only a fan of American muscle cars and drag racing. After 3 years of consistent play time, I've come to greatly appreciate all sorts of automobiles, and I've even started watching and keeping up with endurance racing via IMSA and WEC. This game has reignited my passion for cars, and has greatly expanded my ability to appreciate different types of cars from all over the world.

yea, they fortunately didn't ruin the formula which did work for all previous parts.
but 7 lacks - cars, a bit more race tracks (like Pikes Peak, more exotic one, i really liked the ~25km track they added later on in gt6), and most importantly and about what i was most upset is the music track list in 7 it's literally one of the worst of all series. the one who is responsible for it made a bad job, or they should at least allow to use menu music in races, all the copy paste japan rock is kekw. gt5 had noisia, gt6 had culture shock - i remember, miike snow - in search of... gt4 had many bangers, even gt6 was decent with many cool tracks. gt1 had curve - hell above the water and garbage - as heaven is wide. but gt4 had for sure one of the best tracks, Syntax - Pray ( <3333) ahhh ulrich schnauss - a million miles away (aka paracetamol, what gem...), aquasky vs masterblaster - 777 (and many more)

lol...ummm...wrong thread?

For me, the GT games have always been about the simple experience of driving a car on a track. Pick a car, pick a track and drive. That's really all that matters for me. The fact that the hundreds of cars in the game all feel so unique and have so much character kinda blows my mind. The game is beautiful to look at too...very high res and very smooth and detailed. I've been a gamer since the 70s. In the 90s I used to walk through an arcade and drool over the Daytona and SuperGT machines wishing I could have something like that at home. Now, I have a set up in my living room that absolutely smokes those rigs in every way.

i didn't want to dig up some old threads or create a new one.
anyway i hope gt8 will be like all previous even games of the series, "complete", odd are always like a "demo/preview" gt7 also has this vibe.
ok, but this thread is literally the opposite of what you're doing.

***there's a thread called "The Things That Annoy you" and it's on the very first page of this forum I believe. No need to look very far at all...

There is a thread where people can lost down everything they do not like about GT7. Sharing it here misses the point of this thread and also misses the target audience and like minded people

things what i appreciate are probably just better/more complex physics/interactions? it still arcade in most places but i like how the track dries/get wet and what if you cool your tires they degrade less etc. i am down for such realistic intricacies unless they make the game drastically harder to play (in sense of controlling the vehicle) other than that physics/track properties etc can get as complicated as it possible, and in gt7 there is an another step forward. no idea how currently aerodynamics are calculated etc, but it would be also good if it would be more realistic (and it is also an upgrade to previous parts)
all this opens more avenues for strategies etc. so making the game more deep.

When it comes to this particular installment, I feel like it's got the best customization in the series so far, as even a sizable amount of racecars have options like alternative rear wings, front headlight arrangements, and so on. I also genuinely like the Hagerty integration, though I'm glad the price for a car is capped at 20m credits in-game; if it wasn't, a car like the Ferrari 250 GTO could cost well over twice as much, as they usually go for about $50m at auctions!

In a more general sense, GT7 continues the series tradition of introducing me to brands and locales I never would've heard of otherwise, or at least has made me appreciate them more. For example, I had heard of both the Yas Marina and CGV circuits, but it was when I actually did some driving there - especially the Circuit Experiences for both - that I really understood what made them popular venues.

Very good idea for a tread
Here are my thoughts:

I really like the fact that the game is playable both on controller and on wheels. Of course multiple game allows this but if we take ACC for example it simply horrible to drive on controller. And other game are some time to arcade ish to play on wheels (NFS or even FH5). The fact that you can be a competitive player on both the controller and the wheel is a huge + for gt7.

The way the livery editor works is one of the best I have tried so far and it is very intuitive too. Not to complicated and cool options such has duplicate on opposite side make it easier to work with.

We also get a lot a free update and cars every years. And I think it is something very rare these days in the game industry.

There is also a lot of different things to do, license, circuit experience, mission, photography, collecting, race, online dailies, GTWS championships. There is almost always something to do.

What do I like about Gran Turismo?
Its always evolving, sometimes it does extraordinary things, sometimes not so much, even messes it up at times, but as Einstein said:
Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.
I started to play in PS2 with GT3, I only missed GT Sport because I skipped that console generation entirely and got GT7 just a few months ago.
  • The introduction of new brands (Korean and Chinese)
  • the extra challenges (and how they are now giving extra rewards), those, indeed, focus on the cars and by not giving options for tuning, you really need to focus on the car and try to extract every horse power out of the machine and polish your driving.
  • The engine swaps are a godsend, and yeah, they need work to be, at least for me, perfect, but those have opened new horizons for some underappreciated cars, and give us chance to see whacky stuff like k-cars running to to toe against Gr 4 class cars.
  • The reduction of number of available cars has simplified the game, giving more time to PD to get more details, like how the light reflects / bumps on the tail and head lights, sometimes I just find myself admiring a car on the garage or at Hagerty's and I wait for that brief moment when they show the tail lights. It seems like a "minor stuff", but for me its but an indicator of how much love has been poured into the game, I really appreciate it. In an industry where many developers / publishers dont see us as customers but as cashcows / paypigs, I feel that PD still has, a decent level of respect for us, its customers.

What I like to see:
  • More tuning options for the engine swap cars, to make some of them drivable (Peugeot 205 GTI, the volvo's Flying brick, etc)
  • B-spec but with Sophy-ish AI drivers?
  • Extra challenges (Exanmple. I remember at the end of support of GT6, some threads in the forums where some drivers competed to see who can complete a race with the least amount of PP, oh those were fun times let me tell ya)
  • The return of some tracks (like silverstone) / brands (lotus)
I know that behind the scenes there must be insane levels of negotiations and licenses to be met, but hey, a man can only dream so much, right?
