What about the 9 series Saab 9-something x. it has an inline 4 and is the cheapest new awd car i have seen... but i still like the flat four more.
Saab 9-2X? It is a WRX with leather seats and softer springs, and more sound deadening. I like the nose better than a WRX, but I don't think its worth the extra $$.

It is a flat four.

Victor Vance, you are talking nonsense. The RS6 was is available in both saloon and avant form.

And the avant outsells the saloon version by a huge amount, in the UK anyway (the RS6 biggest market i belive)

Yes the avant is much more desirable and holds it's value a lot better. The RS6 was the first RS model that came in both saloon and avant form. The RS2 and RS4 models before it were only ever produced as avants.

Also note that the new RS6 plus is only available in avant form - and just 999 will be built.

You guys are so, so ****ing lucky. I was unaware that these models were made, including the S3, except we never got 'em. :grumpy:

Also: the site I checked was audiusa.com. Figures.

Hey BenGee, since you are looking for an AWD car, I got some suggestions that you may like. Some of them you have already considered and/or considering. Do not get the Saab. It’s a rip-off from the WRX. It look worst too, and more expensive. Although it has a few other luxuries.

Here are my suggestions:

*Subaru Impreza WRX (Either settles for the WRX or go for the STi!)
*Subaru Legacy – (You have seen that commercial ;))
*Subaru Forester 2.5XT (It can perform with the WRX and it’s a wagon! Very impressive!)
*Mitsubishi Evolution – (I say get the STi, ha-ha.)
*Nissan G35x- (Yes it’s out! And it has the impressive Altessa System too!)
*BMW 3 series – (Get the AWD model.)

Best Sleeper- Subaru Forester 2.5XT
Best Wagon- Subaru Forester 2.5XT (only wagon)
Best Performer- Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Best all around car- Subaru Impreza WRX/STi
Best Looking- Subaru Impreza WRX STi
Best looking cruising vehicle- BMW 3 Series
Best AWD System- Nissan G35x
Best bang for your buck- Mitsubishi Evolution RS

The one that I really suggest is the Impreza WRX and/or STi. Along with that if you want a wagon and the ability to smoke people get the Forester 2.5XT cost about the same.

I have been thinking about the A4 quattro, but i think its a bit exp for a good one.

$27800 for a manual Quattro base; $28800 for an automatic Quattro base - that's without leather, too. It's not worth it anymore with better competitors like the G35x and the Legacy GT.

You don't know your Toyotas do you.The 1ZZ-FE is the 1.8 liter VVT-i engine standard on the Corolla, Celica, Vibe and Matrix. The 2ZZ-GE is the same motor with VVTL-i and is standard on the Matrix XRS, Vibe GT, Corolla XRS and Celica GT-S. Same engine, different cam setup.

Okay, so he's wrong about it not having the Celica engine. But he's right about it being slow. The all-wheel drive models have just 123 horsepower, and while AWD is an asset, their acceleration isn't. Manual transmissioned ones seem okay, but automatics are in the "economy car" acceleration class.

Victor Vance, you are talking nonsense. The RS6 was/is available in both saloon and avant form.

When Audi announced production of an RS6 Avant, British Audi dealers bought every single one. Following a second announcement of even more, the same thing happened. A few of them stayed in Germany, but far and away the vast majority of the things never left the UK. Consequently, the United States didn't get a single one.

Plus he's right - the S6 Avant (the only S6 we got) and the RS6 were both cancelled in the United States last year, though new RS6s are still technically available. To make up for it, Audi's given the A6 2.7T a bit more power and some new styling effects to make it look sportier (and they've renamed it the "2.7T S-Line"). By the way, the A6 isn't the only model we get from that size group - the Allroad Quattro is practically a jacked-up A6, and now available with a 300-horsepower 4.2-liter V8.

The one that I really suggest is the Impreza WRX and/or STi.

For $26000 he can get a Legacy 2.5GT, with a 250-horsepower flat-four. Not to mention a 6-disc CD changer, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated seats and 17" alloy wheels. Or, for $24800 - that's just $1200 less - he can get the WRX, with 23 less horsepower, and NONE of that stuff. The Legacy is a much better car.

Your right. The Legacy 2.5GT is one hell of a buy, but I don't know why but I like the older look of the Legacy better. I know looks aren't all that but I have to say the Impreza looks better. But all around better buy is the Legacy.

Unless he wants the STi. Theres options for radio/cd player etc... now.

Subaru are awesome if you want AWD cars. 👍

LOL. Thanks. I would never consider an Evo, but i dont think she really minds stiff rides :). Lucky for me. The only poor thing about the g35 is that only the sedan is 4wd or so i hear. Doesn't say anything about the coupe. Which is a shame. I really like the coupe.

lol. i sense an inuendo! :scared: :sly:

The people at the garage didnt really even finish looking at her eclipse. It was all speculation. :( Anways, i thank you guys very much for your input and will keep it in mind for the future. Sticking with my 951 and her with her clipse gs until we graduate.
