I have never sworn so much till I played Gran Turismo 5.

Why why why are the licenses so hard to get Gold? For me they are almost impossible and some are near crazy hard just to get a bronze!
Again with the Specials, the cones Nascar for example, just can't do it.

Why when I finally Bronze the Grand Tour, after all that hard work, all I get are useless Photo locations. Surely the thing for PD to is simply open up the photo locations when you complete a race on a given track. And Horns, what a waste they are and again what's with winning paint? We have to pay anyway to paint so why isn't there just an option to paint with a full pallette of ready colours and textures?

This one really gets me, we do a race or licence etc and we win a car, lovely but wait this car can't be used for any of the races, it just sits in our garage collecting dust, what's the point. Surely a prize car should be of some use!

Grrr, that's my goat gotten rid of.

I am seriously considering selling the game.

*drives through course nicely thinking he finally got the gold*

*sees finish line and looks at timer above*

O-o-oh-god o

...

*music plays and you get silver trophy*

The game takes a lot of practice, many people have been playing GT since the first and they are used to the physics and the way the game plays. I usually find bronze too easy and gold not too hard to get for licenses. It is all about practice, dedication and concentration. Also, you do not need to get the licenses, spend time doing all the races and come back to the license tests when your skills improve. Most of the races are very easy, all you need to do is over power the competition with a much better car.

If that's what your going to do why bother playing the game? surly the aim is to set your cars weight and bhp as close as possible to the A1s 💡

Do you have a steering wheel or are you using the DS3 controller? The wheel makes things so much easier and much more immersive since you can actually feel the grip with the force feedback.

I only had maybe 6 golds on license tests before I got my DFGT(Driving Force GT) wheel. Now I have 30 golds. I have been going back and doing one or two a day. Some are still pretty hard but some that were hard to get silver are now easy to get gold.

Oh GT5 has brought out some choice language from me too - that 2nd Top Gear challenge which I am yet to even finish never mind gold... a couple of the license tests (though I stuck with them to get gold) have had the air turning blue... Still, perhaps that is just me being a perfectionist and not satisfied with a silver :)

To me the difficulty of some of the licenses were a part of the game I enjoyed most. I use a controller and now currently have all 60 golds and have for some time. I can tell you that persistence is the key. If the licenses are something that someone wants to gold in just 2-3 tries I would say this part of the game is definately not for them.

As for me, I would try some licenses and such and then go do something else. It seemed though once I really had my driving style dialed in for the game that once I revisited the licenses they seemed much easier. It took me about a month or so before I considered my driving dialed in for gt5.

Good luck, enjoy the game and dont let it frustrate you. The game is ment to be enjoyed but if the licenses are too hard and frustrating either learn to enjoy the challenge or possibly just do other things. I really like the fact that in this game there seems to be a niche for most everyone.

I do not over power unless I am grinding for credits or exp, I tend to try to make the races as fun as possible with stock cars that are similar to the competition. It is common knowledge that if you want to win races easily just modify your car to the maximum. I was not saying that is how I play the game. If the OP is having trouble maybe he should try using better cars and slowly get better with practice.

ive played gt4 since the day it came out. since im so used to the controls getting bronze and silver arent to hard to get on gt5. yea sure some may seem impossible to get like a race where theres no contact and your cars is underpowered as compared to the other and passing os only possible through late breaking at turns and alot of patience. this game isn't just going to hand over gold, you gotta work for it. and getting really good at the licences makes you really good at the rest of the game

Just be thankful the licences aren't compulsory anymore like they were in the past games. I still have a few to gold myself, I find it easier to get drunk first :).

You don't want to know about the vettel challenge if you think these are bad.

My advice, for what it's worth......
Before racing, I would concentrate on the license tests. Once you reach the gold standard on all tests, you are by default pretty fast. If you can achieve gold on the Special License races then for sure you breeze your way up through the ASpec races. In short, the license tests are really designed to cover most driving skills needed.

This can all be done with a DS3 controller pad, no need to spend big dollar on a logitech whatever!!!!!!!! If your a s#*t driver, you will be slow with a wheel and slow with a DS3 controller.

Then start some the online time trials and realize how crap you are compared to the fastest in the world. If you get within 2 seconds of them, pat yourself on the back.

Good luck

The licences and specials are still too difficult for me. I use as DS3 not a wheel. I don't have too much trouble racing, I'm halfway through Amatuer, done some Professional even done the last one on Pro (Gran Turismo challenge?) and won that, my B-Spec is level 22 on Expert. I enjoy the racing and am coping well enough so far, it just seems that the licences are way too hard. On B-5, the corner in out I think, Gold is 18.900 I manage Silver only just, yet in race conditions I get through it ok and win. Seems like Golding is a little too much. It's a shame because I like to try and complete a game.

The Gold times are great on the licenses (In hindsight)... It means you actually have to be good to get the golds (IMO it does anyway) Same with golding Grand Tour Eiger Nordwand.

But of course I can say that because I've golded all of the above lol (i did the licenses with a DS3 btw)

My tip to you is to keep at it ... The only way to gold the licenses is to be persistent, practice different lines and then look at a youtube video aswell for some! Stuff liek the FR Slalom takes a lot of practice to balance the car but golding the licenses has made me a much better driver ... I can now gold the licenses relatively easily now with my DFGT and with ABS switched off.

If all else fails, switch on the windscreen wipers! :D (Coincidentally when I switched them on when I was fed up trying to get gold I golded the test lol!)

Those challenges are there to improve your skills. When you Gold a challenge after lots and lots of attempts, you will be flushed with joy! :)

Nothing worse than the Damned Vettel Challenges !! My God I didn't half scream and shout at the imaginary car on my screen !! Just need to wait for my wheel to attempt to Gold them .... Can see more fun language coming out .... 👍

Monza's not too bad with a wheel after an hour of practicing. (I golded it)

Not had chance to do the other two yet.

To be honest, Monza seems the easiest, Suzuka is a pain, took me about an hour to Bronze with new patch (Don't hate, I never got to Vettel Challenge before it was made easy !!!! ) But from what i've heard a wheel makes it better, hence why I jumped on the bandwagon lol

I use a DS3 as well. I got bronze easily on all the licenses, most took a bit of work to get silver, and I squeezed gold out of a couple and beyond that I don't really care. If you haven't gotten gold it's because you aren't good enough. Either practice a bunch till you get gold, or realize that's a game, and not only that but a small portion of a game that doesn't really even do much. 👍 No use stressing over it.

I haven't bothered with the license tests yet really. I went right into A and B spec and cut my teeth racing against the AI.

I haven't tried golding all the licenses yet nor have I unlocked the Vettel challenges yet. I did swear at the game today though. I had 9 laps left of the 90 lap endurance race at Laguna Seca and the electricity went off. :grumpy:

As others have said, just keep trying. I don't really care about the licenses, especially since they're not mandatory. But I was bored enough to try them out and I got all gold on B and A so far.

Videos help a lot, trust me. I had to watch a video on the test where you have to overtake everyone in an Evo X at High Speed Ring. After studying what that player did, I finally got it after a few tries.

Some licenses are too hard to get even a bronze in while others are too easy to get gold in lol and most of the time ive noticed the best way to get a gold is not to follow driving guide lines but go crazy and reckless like on rally courses

Licenses are about perspective. I look at it like this: when I first began the gt series it took me a long time to get silver on most of the licenses.

So I didn't play for a couple of years. WHAM! Easy silver or gold when I came back. It about months or years of practice, not one night of frustration.

The licenses are about being a well rounded driver. Showing your skill with a range of vehicle types and road conditions. If you're having trouble with a test its probably because a tool is missing from your drivers toolbox.

To quote David Palmer (pro golfer): "People call me lucky. Its amazing, the more I practice the luckier I am."

Tha being said, my kids have learned more colorful words since gt5 came out than any other time.

Can't be that hard using a DS3 for bronze? I got 30 golds just using the DS3, despite owning a DFGT wheel. Some of my friends with no previous GT (or racing) gameplay can get like 20silvers.
I suggest you to watch the demo video and remember the 3P's; practice, persistence and patience.

Yeah! just golded LIke The Wind with Zonda R (Tuned). Christ that was tough. Still struggling with licence B-5 though, tried it at least ten times earlier and still couldn't gold it.
