I just joined Automotive Forums not 20 minutes ago, and lo and behold, I made one post asking if anyone was from GTP, and I got banned

Reason(yes this is what it said!): none

Ban will be lifted: Never.

:indiff: I guess GTP is the place for me!

Well that's unfair.

With no reason for the ban given, I reckon the mod who banned you is like 14 or something...

Which forum? That's very odd can you still contact the mods or admin? Having been to a number of other forums I definitely think GTP is the best which is why it's the only one I use regular.

The forum is the one a automotiveforums.com.

No, I cant even browse the site anymore!

What was your username there?

My username was BluBowl.

Which sub forum did you post in? There's so many of them

LMAO

AUTOMOTIVE FORUMS FTMFL!

I'd go into that site through an IP site which hids your IP and keep making accounts asking for people who are from GTPlanet :p

Off topic> COMPLETELY off topic>

They must have heard about you...

They must have heard about you...
OH NOEZ! :dopey:
*starts running from Matt*

As far as I can see, they deleted your post/thread.

This was supposed to be a supplement to GTP.

Would they have banned me for the poll choices?

Poll: Are you from GTP?

1- Yes

2-No

3- I love Famine!

4- What the foobar is GTP?

From the site's rules/guidelines:

The following situations can possibly get you warned and or your account banned:
  1. Ignoring moderator's warnings for any of the items outlined in this document.
  2. Heavy personal insults (includes racism, sexism or any other ism's).
  3. Campaigning to bring back a banned member, whether in your posts or in your signature.
  4. Criticizing a moderator's decision openly in the forum.
  5. Making constant attacks on other members and moderators, aka, trolling.
[*]You are underage. < - Got you on this. (ROAD_DOGG33J pointed this out)
  6. Post Whoring.
  7. Making an Alias Account.
  8. Posting pornographic, sexually offensive, sexually explicit or objectively material.
  9. Failing to learn from a previous suspension.
  10. Impersonating another individual by creating an account that looks very similar to that member or by other means.
  11. Having an offensive account name.
  12. Scams or the promotion of scams.
[*]Advertising other forums when asked not too. <- probably got you on this, if you take the "asked not to" out
  13. Posting of copyrighted material and illegal software.
  14. Continuously bumping up threads.

Apparently there's no member called BluBowl there, you sure you've spelt it right?
A banned member will not show up in a search of the members.

When you're brand new to a forum, and asking "Who's banned from XXX" will usually result in a ban. Here as well.

Listen, I don't know what happend they gave me an IP ban, so I can't go there from this household, I'll try when I'm at my dads house on wendsday.

EDIT: okay , I... oh okay, Der Alta, please close the thread now, thanks.

Proxies are your friend.

You broke a rule anyways, best bet is to stay away.

I'm aware of that, just been searching but it appears they've deleted all traces of him . If I did ask it'd be via PM to a senior mod but I'm not going to because I'm lazy at midnight.

:( I think they aren't very nice, I see much worse stuff on that site, wasn't even warned!

I may be misunderstanding something here (And I am NOT trying to start a fight) - but this definitely shows a banned user in the search results : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/search.php?searchid=1119064

Or is that because my search was name based and not just a "random" search ?... And this should probably be in Site Feedback instead :odd:

You forgot the underage one.

Ah. Taking a quick squizz at the Terms of Use stuff in the registration page, it says minimum age is 13.

'Tis against some funky act in America at least to take part in a forum if you are under 13 and dont have your parents written consent.

I just checked that forum...and it;s not bad at all... In fact i had quite a conversation with an admin. And his response to my concern was " We banned him because he posted on the wrong forum"

What a great way to represent your site in a correct manner

Ciao!

Hello!

I'm an old GT3/4 player, an old member of GTBN (Who we all know has the fastest GT4 drivers on it), And, more importantly, right now I'm also a Moderator at Automotiveforums.com Not just any mod either.

I find this whole thing rather embarrassing.
So my apologies to everyone at GTP for what has happened, I'm not total sure myself, but I think it comes down to a huge misunderstanding of a new rule, and a misreading of BluBowl/MatttheTuner's post. We have a massive spam problem, and in a fit of delusion someone thought it was spam. Clearly they have no idea what GTP is, and have never played GT. I'll make sure that is corrected. In fact Iv just left a big rant about how wonderful a community all the different Gran Turismo forums make, and wished the Automotive forums of the world could be the same.

BluBowls user name has been re-instated, and he should be getting a PM from a mod to sort things out.
He will have to remove the link in his sig, its unfortunately one of our ways of controlling the spam.
And, unfortunately if he's under 13 his account will most likely be banned again. But that's a rule we have had in place since day one, and has more to do with the lack of under 13s who actually have a gainful knowledge or passion of cars, and can handle the sometimes in depth and technical discussions we like to think we get into.

Cazzogrande Thank you for bringing this to our attention, several of us saw your thread and moved it into our little secret forum to talk about it, and so I could knock some heads together.

Again my apologies, AF really is a wonderful place, and we aren't mean and nasty either.
After this I think I might have to dig out the PS2 and run a few laps of the ring to relax.

no prob man ;)

Ciao!

Well how about that. I thought it pretty odd also, but I guess it's been taken care of, at least until Matt's profile is seen to have a big "12" in it. Rules are rules, but at least the dummyhead who got flustered at Matt has been straightened out.

Ban him in retaliation! ;) Just kidding, of course.

That was very professional of you to get together and discuss the situation and come here to provide an explanation. It certainly clears up a lot of confusion. With so many registered members, I can imagine that maintaining control of all the posts can be quite a hassle, and mistakes are bound to happen. It looks like you and the rest of the moderating staff have taken the time to clear everything up.

I'll admit that after reading through this thread, I had a bad first impression of AF; but after reading your post, I have since changed my mind. 👍
