A revolutionary product! This universal shiftknob with LCD display is not only good for looks: it also increases driving safety and helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 15 percent by means of an adapted driving style.

This shiftknob fits all cars with manual transmissions up to 6 speed and is designed to work with every gearshift pattern.

A light sensor in the Indy-Cator adapts the brightness of the digital display to the surrounding light by means of an automatic dimming function, ensuring optimal readability at all times.

The connection to the cars power supply and gear assignment programming is very simple, and of course the shiftknob comes with detailed instructions for installation.

Available with red or blue display.

Call me crazy, but I'm willing to pay the 169 dollars they want for them. Yes, I'm that tacky... :dopey:

Yeah, I don't see how a shift knob can change your fuel consumption by up to 15%. I'm sure they just added that in for some people to go, "OOOH!" to. 👎

It reduces fuel consumpion for those drivers who don't know which gear they're in and have to look. Of course, these people shouldn't be driving a car in the first place. :ouch:

Aw, c'mon... that part is corny, yeah... but the sheer KITT-ness of the thing! Wow... although I suppose it will start to get a little erratic once the sensors start wearing out.

Apart from that ... if you're not completely blind, how can you not see which gear you are in when you look at your standard shift knob? And if you still have to look at it with this new one, what's the point? You'll have to look either way.

OoooooOooo Look at the pretty numbers. I can count, yay... Rice is Rice and that's what this is. Plain and simple.

Don't listen to all the haterz, niky...I like that too!

Its a neat little toy, but I'm uncertain how many people are going to want to go through the set-up procedure, much less use it the right way.

I dunno. It would look neat in my VW if they had the lights display in green, but I really don't have any use for it. I rarely, if ever, forget what gear I'm in... Much less have to be told to upshift or downshift.

I'm sure the import community will be all over it... That is, those that can actually drive stick and have them in the cars... Not the douchebags with automatics in their 'tuned' Civics and Sentras...

This thing is pretty useless. Who looks down to see what gear they're in anyway?? If you look down, that's not safe at all.. LOL. If you don't what gear you're in, you shouldn't be driving a car.

I see the headline now, Granny takes sonny boys car out for a ride to the grocery market and gets distracted by the gear shifter while figuring out what gear she is in because she has gone senile. . . Puts sonny's car through the front of a grocery store front door killing family of three. . .

I think Bogus 👎

While it certainly classifies as "neat", it also classifies as "useless".

A quick glance at the knob tells me what gear I'm in already, based on speed and RPMs. Plus, I never look at the shifter when I'm actually changing gears.

Bah, rice I say.

Like others have said, you shouldn't need to look at the stick to tell what gear you are in. Hell, all I have to do is listen to my engine and see how fast I am going and I know.

I think the 15% gas thing refers to those that leave their car in forth while on the highway cause they get distracted while speeding up, or something.

All this is is another distraction. Maybe putting a light on the dash to tell you what gear you are in could be handy... at least more so than this thing.

Not everything with LEDs is rice people. This isn't rice, this is actually a neat product. What is a crock is the advertising pitch of this thing, it will most certainly NOT improve your gas mileage and it will NOT improve safety. It will do the opposite on both counts. I like it.

My approval rating: 90%--and only for the non-carbon fibre versions.

Well don't rally cars have a display up on the dash which shows which gear they are in? I've seen many race cars with indicators that show which gear they are currently in.

I wouldn't mind having a display telling me which gear i'm in...

As for the shiftknob, its a good idea but if they are trying to go for something that tells you what gear your in they should make it so you can put it somewhere on your dash or in your gauge cluster IMO:tup:

I like it, but I'd never buy or use one. I've only got 4 gears anyway. Plus, at the end of the day, a gearknob's a gearknob, and at £85 it's a damn expensive one.

Don't most cars have what gear you're in on the dash anyway?

Yes. If your familiar with the gearing, the speedo and tach will let you know what gear your in.

I seem agree with the majority, it's an overpriced ugly- gaudy shift knob with a ridiculous advertising pitch.

Creativity: 8/10
Practicality: 0/10

I want one!!! 👍 👍

I love the blue display in that style..... would be cool if it changed colour or flashed at the redline or a preset point!

They have sequential shifters so you can't determine the gear from the shifter position, which is why they have the indicator.

I know the Mazda 3 does, at least with the automatic. It seems like a feature that will quickly become standard.
There are quite a lot of cars that do, but onlly the ones with an automatic. Out of the manual ones, I don't know a single one.

It's a nifty nob sure, but it shouldn't have any effect on how you drive. Personally, the only times I look at the gear stick is that I have a habit of looking at the stick before I start the car when I make sure it's in neutral.

I'd stick it in just for the aesthetics... questionable though they are... It's just like leather trim... do you actually look at it while you drive?

Yeah, it's only AT cars that get dashboard gear indicators... of course, this little gadget brings up the question... couldn't they do it for manuals, too?

I like it, if I had a manual I would look into getting one.

It's a nice gimmick, but not worth the money to me. I rather a plan functional gearknob, I'm always aware of what gear I am in without having to check.

I agree with several others here in that it's neat and I like it, but it's useless and expensive all the same. I use my ears to tell whether or not I'm in the right gear.

I do wish my motorcycle had a gear indicator, though...even if it'd only be useful for distinguishing between 5th and 6th at sub-highway speeds.
