we're waiting for the PS4
fishtailrook1 (?)
I got called in for a printer malfunction for my cousin's computer. the thing had suddenly stopped acknowlegeing printer activation. after fiddling a while I located 3 copys of the printer in the printer folder, and tyhat told me there was part of the error. but, when I deleted the extras, the comp automatically reinstalled from the printer's hardware itself, annoyingly.

also, the program she was using to print with is sending the file to one of the two copies instead of the destination the printer ITSELF has tagged via USB cable. I'm stumped, and totally annoyed. it being a Vista machine doesn't help, either.

gimmie a hand, here? this is baby pictures, interrupted.

I'd try a full uninstall of the printer (unplug it and get rid of any known printers in control panel or however Vista handles them, along with any drivers or software it installed [check with her if she has certain settings she wants or whatever]). Reboot, then hook up the printer again and let Vista install it with generic drivers, if it will. Otherwise reinstall the drivers.

heh. I did that allready. like I said, the minute I deleted things, the printer put it back in itself. there's an autoinstall thing on USB devices.

unfortunately, they have a three way split, IE three different users on the comp. I can barely get the admin password, and since this is a Vista machine, there's a zillion barriers and confirmations everywhere.

here's what it's doing.
turning on the printer activates a version on the comp called "copy one"
however, the Kodak Camera software, when attempting to set the path TO "copy one", states that it cannot be used, there's an error...even when copy one is set as the default printer it ONLY acknowleges "copy zero"

There has been cases with Vista on the internet of people complaining of faulty drivers. Some have managed to solve it by getting the latest drivers from the manufacturers websites. Others have just fiddled with it...

Sorry I'm not much help.

I'll check that anyway. the printer was a wal*mart bargan basement jobbie, and may not be that compatable with Vista.
