This patch might mean a quick death for GT5?

http://hubpages.com/hub/Xbox-Live-vs-Playstation-Network sums up the online experience for me on both PSN and XBL. 70 bucks a year is NOTHING, if your going to complain about that dont even bother gaming in general cause theres far worst things then paying for an online service.

This patch didnt kill anything. Now all PD needs to introduce is a auction house of some sort or trading system that can replace the 1million Cr limit..

Well, I literally got the last car in the game yesterday, so I was very lucky.
However, I still think it is a stupid decision.
I have already started playing Test Drive Unlimited 2 more often anyway.
It sure seems like Kaz is trying to drive people away.
Oh well, TDU2 for another month, and then NFS: Shift 2 comes out.
Thanks for the memories Kaz, see you again in 6 more years.

Returning to the topic of the thread, personally, YES.

This patch has been the last nail in the coffin of this game for me, and i must to insist, is my only personal feeling.

Right now, GT5 is in my PS3 until Killzone 3 arrives, just in, according Amazon, 4 days and 11 hours :dopey:

That's the rest of the life of this GT. Rest in peace, GT6 we wait you, we need you! :dopey::dopey::dopey:

Note: And i am a veteran who enjoyed GT, GT2, GT3, GT4 (100%) & GT PSP (this not very much :dopey:).

Honestly, probably 1 or 2 rounds of online special events and a few days of B-Spec remote grinding?

B-spec Nurburg 24 hour race = 600,000 credits = 600 hours (about a month straight) of B-spec races for 15 mil.

Even if there's better races to choose, that's neither gaming nor driving, and it'll add quite a bit to the energy bill, prevent me from watching Blu-Ray movies, and when it's done I'll have accomplished nothing. I'll have the car, but I'll be broke again and still won't have any new races to drive the car in. Never mind the fact that B-Spec and this forum is what got me into Forza in the first place. I don't want to watch the AI drive, it's absurdly boring, so I played Forza 2 while it was going and a couple weeks ago I bought Forza 3 and I love it.

I understand why some might grind for the cars, but I can't justify it. Either give me way more single-player events (and maybe an end-race friend leaderboard) or Forza is where I'll go for my racing.

Just to make it clear... I´m not ranting about Gran Turismo in general, and I don´t think this two gentlemen are. I love Gran Turismo and I´m very dissapointed in al the negatives involving GT5, and thats why I hope they can make a better game next time. If I were not a Gran Turismo enthusiast, the I would never play GT or any other GT title again, which is not the case. I just want to feel that something that the other GT´s made me feel... Something that GT5 clearly has NOT given me...

That's the point! That's not a rant. We must recognize a bad GT, but we must to wait, like good fans, the next GT, hoping it will be better. As a Marine say: Semper Fidelis! :dopey:

You have to remember it's only v1.07 now. I expect there will be many more updates. Compare GT5 v1.0 to GT5 v1.07 and they've changed a pretty large number of things. There maybe eventually be a GT5 v2.0+, who knows?

It'll be a long wait to GT6, may as well put some miles on GT5 (unless you just find it unplayable).

Did you seriously just say that? Those 15,000 credits from a 15 minute race is really going to get me those nice cars quickly. You just exposed your ignorance. Thank you.

That is exactly what I did, as you put it, exposed ignorance. We are all free to play as we like. Of course it isn't going to get you all those nice cars quickly, that's the point. Take your time, what's the hurry. Sure, I'm irritated by the cap on my virtual wallet and not being able to sell cars.

This game will never be fixed properly and it will never be as polished overall as any of the other GT games. This one is a failure and all the band-aids[updates] do is expose how futile the approach to this iteration of GT has been and how massive the amount of work is needed to actually polish and complete this game.

They should concentrate on GT6 and learn from the many things that were failed ideas from GT5. Kaz lost focus. Time to regroup and try again. If they insist on working on GT5 adn GT6 at the same time then:

Kaz more Tracks, Events, Driving fun etc. Less of add-on gimmicks like remote b-specing, online museum etc. Not that they are bad things in and of themselves but fix whats broken first before adding new broken stuff that didnt even get debugged well before release lol. At least PD is consistent:) Even the free stuff is not polished lol. PD's whole operation this time around seems amaturish.

The game was over For most when all the a spec events were done/ nearly done. On to the next video game lol

Then you guys are playing the wrong game. Seriously, racing is about refining the car, mastering a course, and developing your skills. If you find the idea of racing Nürburgring in a RUF Yellowbird over and over to try and beat a real world time "boring" then you just bought the wrong game.

O darn, if I would have saw the advertising for this game talk about driving a standard car on one track countless times I would have never forked over 59.99. Thank heavens there is a little more to it than that...despite the overblown pre release hype.

I guess i'm the only one who doesn't have 20 hours per week to devote to GT5.

PD=God

I've wrote a prayer to thank PD=God

"Thank You <PD=God> for getting rid of whiners and complainers in one, swift, simple, 49megabyte go. Thank You. I will sacrifice my first child in your honor!"

:) Bye Bye peeps, Imma enjoy me some GT5 :)

If what you are saying is true, then why have I got countless decent cars and still have about 8 million credits?

I haven't done any grinding and I certainly haven't done any duping (cheating).

So please, explain that for me.

Stupid comments are stupid.

I would guess that your definition of grinding is different than mine. The fact is that the prize money totals only a fraction of the total value of the cars in the game. I could go on, but that about sums it up.

Obviously I don't think you should have every car after completing the career, but I think it's incredibly stupid to argue that the game is balanced right now.

The way I see it, this patch will bring back "appreciataiton for cars." I played GT4 for YEARS to acquire the cars I did. I didn't have people to trade online with for them. Now, I will admit I did plenty of trading and some duping to get the the cars I've got in GT5, but now I've realized that there was no sense of achievement doing it that way like there was in GT4. The main reason I started trading and such to begin with was to acquire many of the different colored race cars you couldn't get before they recently added all colors to the UCD. I've still got plenty of cars to get so hopefully this patch rescues the game for me, or rather rescues me from trading. Let the "trade rehab" process begin

Hey bud, I'm not trying to be condescending or belittle your plight. I'm really tryin to understand the need to have all the cars today. Is it because other people have them, so I should have them too? Play a couple hours a week, find a car, tune it, set lobby regs, and race it. Really, I'm trying to see things from your perspective, so help me out here.

yes more money badly.

I have never duped, and it will probably take me the rest of my life to get all the cars in the game. My garage is full of road cars because that's all I can afford. My only race cars have been from tickets/awards. 30 a-spec and 35 b-spec. I honestly don't want to "grind". If you're gonna make me grind, at least make it worth it. Why can I not win the same car twice? Or 100 times? Where are the big pay outs? Well, there aren't any. Aside from seasonal events, which got ruined by the whiners, there are no big pay outs.

86,000 credits for 4 hours on the Nurburgring? That's adding insult to injury.

^ Should be at least a 2,000,000 credit pay out. Even then I'd have to grind it 10 times (that's 40 hours) to buy an X1. At 86,000 credits, that same 20 million would take 930.23 HOURS!!! WTF! Talk about a waste of time!

They make things take soo much time and effort that it seems like they DON'T want me to play the game, honestly. It seems that this may be the "killing" point of this game for me.

930.23 hrs = ~39days

It'd take more than a year of game time and a fair few years of real time to get every colour X1 this way. Crazy thinking from PD..

A better route would be to grind the Indy race in American Champ, but you'd go insane going left all the time.. for hours of game time.

Jeebus Christmas you guys,

I've been playing this game nearly everyday since December, around everything else i do in the real world and I still haven't run out of events to do.

How can you guys possibly have had the time to complete everything in GT5, do you have no lives, work, friends, girlfriends, school, housework etc? There is still months worth of stuff for me to do.

Are you talking about endurance races, because that's just about the only thing I have left to do. That and the FGT championship, but I don't have time to sit down for 3 hours straight to do it, because of some of the reasons you stated.

There needs to be more A-spec races that don't take a ridiculously long time to complete. And we need a save option for enduros and championships.

I dont understand most of you people. Where is the joy in trying to collect all these cars in such a short time. Some want to achive this in some hours or days from what i am reading. A collection is not bad, but everybody should know that such a thing needs time.

Are there only duplicators and collectors around here? Who feel betrayed, because pd wants you to shift a gear back? To pause your unhealthy addiction of getting the next car you admire. 90 % of the cars you get will never see the nice tracks in the virtual world. They are covered in dust and parking in your garages for ever.

All cars have their history, strengs and flaws. To master the wild RUF Yellowbird for a whole lap around the Nordschleife is not just a awful hard job, but its also a really great experience. There are enough cars that everybody can enjoy. They are just waiting for you. Take them for a spin. Really where is the reason in owning that 5 billlion cr. car? Yeah, you can show it online or your frinds and its cool for the first 5 min, but after that nobody is interested anymore. Its not that fun to drive and the reason you bought it for, is no longer there.

1000 cars in this game, just choose one.

Just my opinion but I reckon one of the reasons GT5 is disappointing is because Kaz was frequently out of the office participating in real race events.

Bottom line is GT5 is supposed to be a video game and we play video games for enjoyment. However their are many aspects of GT5 that seem more like a chore and I don't find constantly repeating events for credits as good gameplay. This brings me back to my earlier post about GT5 being years behind other racing games. Back in the GT1-4 days I didn't mind grinding or repeating events for credits because back then we didn't have online gaming so I didn't know any different. However recent racing games have shown what other features can be implemented which has made me reluctant to grind in GT5.

If this had been the year 2000 then I would of been happy with the gameplay in GT5. However its 2011 and now I know different.

+1

Bring on Shift 2 and Forza 4.

GT5 just isn't fun at all =/

Grinding is when you repeat the same race/races over and over again.

I don't do this.

How is my definition of grinding any different to yours?

Do you consider A spec progression as grinding?

How is my comment stupid?

The aim of the game is not to collect every car, the reason Gran Turismo games have so many cars is that they try to have something for everybody, my god I knew this over 10 years ago.

There are many cars in the game that I have no desire to own, even some of the 20.000.000 cr cars, just because they are the most expensive it does not mean that you have to own them, so your point about the total credits you earn in career being a fraction of the cost of the total cars is pointless imo.

I didn't understand the pokemon comments that have been going around this forum until now, people really are trying to own every single car in this game. If that's what they want to do then fine but they can't complain that they have to grind to do it. I know that there's a trophy for owning over a 1000 cars, it doesn't mean you have to get it as quick as possible, do what I do and play other games as well as GT5 and await for the new things to be added, I don't see what the big rush is to get trophies and to get to level 40 tbh.
