I know ppl go on about it.
But i can never get anywhere in it,the car always seems to cut out for what ever reason and can never get any revs exiting a corner.
Ive changing my driving style, and all the aids, but nothing.
any tips?

The traction control stops the car from revving
try turning it down

ive had it turned off many times, and im still getting the same outcome, any other rally event ive not had a problem in,but this one is just getting on my nerves now..

I was the same, seriously close to hating the game due to the rally.
Turn traction off, drive slower and brake for corners
, driving round them not sliding.
I struggled to get anywhere near bronze - now I have all gold, and by a large margin.

I didn't do any sliding around corners. I turned traction control all the way off because it just KILLS your car in the corners. Seriously it's so bad I have no idea why it's even an option in a rally race. It's broken & so detrimental to the car. I did turn the racing line on to give myself a good idea where to use the brake & take it easy into the corners. I also used skid recovery force. hehe! Yeah, I didn't care because the whole penalty system in these challenges just drained the fun right out of them. DQ for slightly tapping an invisible wall in a rally race? What a joke.. anyway, with those settings I got gold by a huge margin and I'm about as average a GT player as you can get. I wish you luck. Trust me, once you get a decent set up and get an idea of how you should go around the track you'll get gold super easy on them.

I could've said the exact same thing, and I mean word for word (even the "close to hating the game" comment) :D

Traction Control off, ABS off, Slide recovery on. When going through a succession of corners don't fully accelerate, just moderate your acceleration. Brake early, drive deliberately slowly - that's what I did and got gold on all three first time.

Toscana was quite easy to gold
Eiger was a little harder because I crashed and had to restart a few times

Chamonix was crazy hard for me at first, couldn't finish it at all mostly and when I did I didn't even get bronze..

But yesterday I tried it again, and on my first try a 4.11 :) (Gold at 4.16)
The trick on chamonix is to go really high in gear (Usually about 2 gears higher than the indicator shows) and drive very carefully, slide as little as possible but through the long high-speed corners dont be afraid of going fast.

If you dont usually play with skid recovery I see skid recovery a little as cheating. I should point out that I have nothing against people doing it but don't think it should be presented as anything but a last resort...

I found this challenge easy. I got gold first time on all. The hardest was eiger I got gold by half a second. I had traction on 5 and abs on 1 but turned racing line off because I discovered on the other rally events that it's a waste of time. If you follow it you will lose time. It tells you to brake too early and shows you a line that no rally driver would use. Also just ignore the ghost car. When I beat eider by half a second I couldn't even see it. It was so far in front I was sure I had failed

Use this setup: all aids off except ABS:1 and Skid Recovery Force:On.
I was faster than the gold time by 2 seconds in my first try

You, sir, are amazing.

Eiger, after something like 30 attempts... Gold, by 2 seconds+ when I changed to this. Thanks!

I actually did this the first time on all 3, with nothing on, I tried to not get any slide at all, and drive it like I'm on tarmac, it seemingly helped alot.

Another tip for those of you with a lead foot...if you are going to hit a wall, if you can slow down enough and just nudge the wall with the rear half of the car, you can often get away without being disqualified. Not that I suggest doing this on purpose but it can get you out of trouble when you are 3 mins into the track and sick of having to start again.

I'll have to try Eiger with Skid Recovery. I got gold on the other two tracks fairly easily but for some reason I'm really slow on Eiger and can't even get bronze :(

If you dont usually play with skid recovery I see skid recovery a little as cheating.

Skid recovery is definitely "cheating" (and yes, I used it to win the Eiger event) but I do believe it's justified for the Loeb events - they seem to use somehow very different physics from all the other rally events in the game.

In the snow challenge (no skid recovery for me here, but I did have to change the torque split to be able to win) I was completely unable to break the 4:16 target time using the stock settings and no assists. However I could get into a stock (other than snow tyres) Audi quattro, go to practice mode and do a standing start lap of Chamonix comfortably under 4 minutes. Even allowing a couple of seconds for me being not exactly on the start line, there's no way a 28 year old road car should be so much quicker than a current WRC car.

I found this series of events very challenging using my G27 and no aids except ABS on 1. Each of the three events took several hours of practicing (partially because I restart if I make any large, noticeable mistakes).

It seems as though these events are not intended to be easy for players of average skill, so if you're having trouble just keep practicing until you improve your skills enough to beat it. I prefer this over using driving aids like skid recovery (never used and never will). If you're looking for a quick fix, this is probably not the answer you are looking for haha.

I do have one good tip for the first track: cut the corners!
I was having a lot of trouble getting gold on the first event until I watched the example video, which showed the driver severely cutting the corners onto the grass in order to maintain speed. Driving the course this way immediately reduced my time by over three seconds, netting me the gold.

Also, for the second last corner (the very long one), come flying into it with all the speed you can and drift all the way around it until you have a straight shot to the finish line.

I thought the Loeb challenge was going to be a lot harder than what it was. I am average at best at this game and i completed them all gold in only a few tries. I think I had traction control on at 1 or 2... ABS on 1... the other driving aids just turned off.

turn everything off (except skid recovery) and use manual transmission.
Never let the wheels spin by gearing up in mid rps, this way you build up speed.
As less as you spin and drift the faster you go.
At least that is how i got it.

Hmm, actually, if you turn skid recovery on, you are free to to spin the wheels as much as you like, because you get extra traction then. Try it with all off, ABS1 - this is the way to go if you want to develop some skills.

Slow in, fast out to the extreme here.
Cut massively everywhere you can. This is exactly the way Rally drivers do it IRL.
Slide gently and under control. Indude the slide (with the throttle or flicking the car) and control it with the throttle, not the wheel. Ideally, the nose should point towards the exit and wheel adjusments to the minimum.

I must be the worst GT5 player in the world but I managed to complete this without resorting to "skid recovery on".

All aids off...ABS 5 (not sure that helps). Focus on not drifting corners. Brake gently and you'll slow down faster. Watch the videos.

I didn't gold all of them but I won the C4.

This i noticed too, practise mode on chamonix feels like a arcade game compared to loeb challenge. even online did not feel as good as loeb challenge. What i really want to know though is if its because of changes in physics or simply a different tune. As far as i know loeb challenge is only place to experience proper snow physics...:(

I noticed the same thing. The only real rally experience on loose surfaces is the Loeb challange. Everything else is aracadish. Unrealistic levels of grip.

for real, i was getting a hard time to bronze them.

then, i got a friend and split screen 1x1 using the C4 rally on toscana.

after a while (about 3-4 tries of 10 laps each) the track was no problem anymore. when i went back to the challenge on another day i got all golds somehow.

i guess that the law of order is practice and turn everything off. including abs.

my 5 cents
