this afternoon i had the bright idea of parking my car in a brick wall....the back window was condensed up with the rain and all...i couldnt see where i was reversing and suddenly....*ccrrruunnncchhh*....i got out and there was the biggest mother of a scratch over my back wheel arch...right through to the bear metal....

thats right...go ahead...laugh...

what would i use to protect this wound from the rain?

That was something of a poor idea TurboSmoke.

You can get special stuff from Halfords that hardens over the bare metal, creating a seal. Or you could have ChipsAway look at it - their rates are very reasonable: £35 to fix a stone chip apparently.

Depends on the value of the car: if it's worth a lot, it's worth fixing straight away, I would have said.

That sucks. Reminds me of the time I made a right turn into a parkinglot in front of a stopped bus, that decided to go right when I was in front of it. I never got the damaged rear quarter fixed. No rust in AZ.

Hope you can get it fixed reasonably cheap.

cheers mate..:)

the car is worth about £100,000....imo...but according to Reg Vardy...where i bought it, the trade in price was £4,000....(before the scratch)..

thanks for the advice folks...

Hard luck chum. My brother slot parked my dads auto once against a brick wall. When it came time to leave he put it in 'Drive' not 'Reverse' and sent it into the wall.

Hope you can get it sorted quick and cheap there Turbo

Ouch TurboSmoke, I feel for you.

My dad recently backed into a truck he hadn't seen coming out of a steep up-hill driveway. The right tail-light is busted, the back door (it's a Santa Fe) has decent scratches and a nice dent too.

Add that to the already busted front right fender, the scratched up, dented bumper in the front and our car is not looking too good right now. :indiff:
And apparently the blasted tail-light replacement we need is nowhere to be found until at least a week.

Reg Vardy?

How many bloody Reg Vardy's are there in the UK?

Thousands. And they're all robbers. TurboSmoke: check over your potential purchase very carefully. Most of their best cars are only in what I would describe as "Good" condition. Check the spec very carefully too, because the salesperson almost certainly won't know, and will just tell you what they think you want to hear. Make sure that you research well before you go.

Cheers Giles...

i was thinking about going to my local Mitsubishi dealer....but i dont know if they'll take a Fiat off my hands....

Wouldn't trust RV at all.

If your Mitsubishi dealer is part of a chain which has other dealerships, then that's a decent idea. Otherwise I would think about sticking it in Autotrader.

I'm off down south tonight to see my parents, so will be driving. As a displaced Englishman who doesn't particularly like football, I hope Scotland win and get through, but I don't feel motivated to watch.
