The race starts saturday at 15.00 in Germany, that´s IIRC 09.00 in the US.

271 (!!) cars on one track. Or should I say "on 2 tracks" because it is a combined track (Nordschleife + Nürburgring F1 track)?!

Especially at night worth a look. The fast cars have to take over 50 opponents each lap.

If you live in Europe, you can watch most of the race on free TV.

Well I doubt that us American's will get it, any word of a webcast? I have satellite with a million channels or something, but I only get like 10 European channels, mostly BBC stuff.
 
Well I have free tickets from Honda, still don't know if I have time to go there....
 
Does anyone know if it will be on on UK TV?......Like on any of the normal 5 channels! (You Americans are lucky!)
 
I'd be hopeful for a half hour broadcast of it :(

I'll die from extreme shock if a word of this event makes the local news.

Do you Europeans get the IRL Indianapollis 500? It airs on the 29th of this month. It's a huge event here.
 
The Indy 500 is proibably the biggest Motorsports event in the world, so it must get broadcasted in Europe, we get it down here, infact, we get the whole series.

we are getting coverage of the indy 500 in the UK, on sky sports, i think thats partly to the fact of 2 british drivers participating but there you go :D

as for the nurburgring, eurosport will definatly show some of it

Only on Pay TV.

Sport is a matter of interest. In America everyone loves NASCAR, Baseball, Basketball and of course American Football. Europeans don´t care for these sports except the NBA, which in Germany i.e. has more viewers than the german basketball league. But no one cares about the other ones (and Indy/Cart events). People in Europe like Football (soccer), Rugby, Cricket, Snooker, Track and Field and Racing (especially F1 and Moto GP).
 
Can someone record the 24hr race and send me the tape?....just an idea. I really want to see it.
 
Well, there will probably be a DVD again. Recording a video makes no sense, since it would require 6 tapes which you can´t watch at all on your NTSC VCRs.
 
Great another amazing race I won't be able to see. BTW Boris Said will be in the race. That'll be quite cool to see what he drives.

Not really. Consider that we only have something like 18 channels on broadcast, and at least half of those are Spanish. After that, there's UPN, who only show crappy 80s and 90s sitcoms, CBS, who mostly show boring dramas and politically corrected "news" shows, NBC, who have a couple late-night shows worth watching and pretty much nothing else, public TV, who mostly specialize in showing concerts from the 1970s, 9, who only seem to show daytime talk shows, even at night, and FOX, who shouldn't need an introduction.

So, you see, we have more channels, but they're all crap.

It pisses me off to no end, by the way, that Spanish Fox Sports shows F1, WRC, and Moto GP, but the English-language Fox Sports has nothing but football, baseball, and basketball.

I too am pissed off at Fox. They own Speed Channel which is the only true source of European Auto Sports events for American viewers. But, lately they've been airing too much NASCAR racing and Coors racing events. Now, we get a very limited amount of European car racing. We'll be lucky if we get a two hour race that has been edited to just 12 minutes.

Fox needs to start a second Speed Channel and limit it to European and other foreign car racing events. We no longer get JGTC "Super GT" events, DTM, etc. Most of the events we do get, like I said before, have been edited to almost nothing worth watching.
 
Sadly, I miss speedvision. Speed Channel is just a sad excuse for Nascar TV (although I do like nascar, but this is just overkill.) and nothing else. Speedvision was the bomb, its what first got me into JGTC and DTM besides GT(didn't they also use to show the full 24 hr Le Mans race? Or something close to it, now Speed channel only airs like what 10 hours of it?. To make it even worse Speed channel didn't even air the 2005 dakar rally, how pathetic.

In Australia when we had the Bathurst 24hr's all we would see is the first hour and then the last hour how pathetic is that. I had to go online to see what was happening. We dont see any 24hr Lemans, we dont see 24hr Nurb, but we see tons of Nascar aswell.
 
Yep, Australia lacks alot of international motor sport events, I think they're just affraid people will like it more than v8 Supercars, or not enough.

Yes, not bad if you look at the American situation, but... it could be better... WRC for example... you can watch it either on 11.30 PM or on 8.00 AM.... what do we have on 8 PM ? Curling.... :rolleyes:

Personally I am sorry for Alzen Jürgen, Alzen Uwe, Ludwig Klaus 6 Dumbreck Peter
because they could have won this race ( right at the beginning they lost over two hours because of electric problems )

And I'm especially sorry for The FALKEN team...
It is obviously the last time they participate with its extreme popular Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 and they had to quit race at second postion this morning ! They also lost a sure TOP 3 position ! Sad !

They said that Boris Said, the driver who finished the race, has never driven the track before this weekend but practiced a lot with GT4 on his PS2. LOL!
