I was in a race tonight and by accident I came down on a driver that I didn't know was there. I sent him a apology in game and thought you would like to know about the GTP reputation online. His psn is : vrrm, from Au and not a member here. He said :
It's nice to see that you took the time to apologise. There are so many out there that don't seem to care. I understand that the GTP drivers have a code that you race by and being a driver from the outside, appreciate your ethics.

I believe when he said "appreciate your ethics " I think that he ment all of the GTP drivers.

I believe that most, if not all of us with the GTP tag are competitive while being considerate towards others on the track. I'm not always competitive but I'm always considerate to others.
I always drive with this way because I want a good competitve race and its even better when others take notice of good driving ethics.
Most online racers take you out at any corner they choose, ram you on a straight when you try passing, brake check, etc.......thats not for me.
I'm sure Sphinx likes to hear these responses as I'm sure he wants the GTP tag to be known as a group of great racers.

I don't run a GTP tag but my online name is opelgt1969 and I have run a couple of races with you (Kart Racer) and it was a pleasure racing with you. I was in a race last night and a fellow racer (eskimo_gansta) sent me a message after race that said :
Good race
Sorry for bump
He did tag me a little but it was close racing and he slowed down till I caught up. I didn't go flying by him rather caught up and raced him clean.

I too have received many appologies from drivers that have accidently punted me. It's nice to know that there are decent drivers out there that show others respect. It makes a nice change from the bad drivers that don't care who's race they ruin.

How can you justify bump drafting, your using the other person to gain an advantage to yourself, sometimes pushing them into a guard rail or into the grass/sand. Why not just draft them and pass them without bumping them.

I agree, unless it's on a long straight and not right before a turn. Badly-timed or placed bump drafts send cars into the wall or into a spin, so I generally stay away from them.

Two cars running together can use the bumpdraft to pickup speed to catch the leaders.I have no problem with sxboyd using it on me as I have raced with him enough that I don't have to worry when he is behind me. So when something does happen, I know it was a accident and not intentional. And I can say this about all of the GTP drivers that have raced with me.👍 Tagged and untagged.

Just for the record, i'm not trying to offend you, i'm merely pointing out that the Gran Turismo series is a driving simulator. You wouldn't intentionaly bump cars along in F1 or touring car events would you.

Well one thing you need to remember is that often times you will get punted and be FAR behind, drafting is not "cheating" it's physics, and as long as you don't bump the person as you pass, or approach them then more power to you. But back to my point, sometimes the only way to catch up is to draft one drafting another over and over again to get them back in the race. It happens in real racing all the time. Being so confrontational is not the best way to be around here Fanatic. I'm not saying not to ever disagree with someone, but you should always show composure, like a gentleman. Honestly no matter how good you are, sometimes you will get stuck in a race with someone as good as you, and a punter. The punter takes you out, the other guy (the one as good as you) keeps going. You just happen to be behind with another racer. Using each other to catch the racer as good as you (making as good of times as you are) is not wrong or cheating, it's racing!

I'm not being used, I have raced far years and this is a part of life on the track .

No offence taken . F1 no, full body cars, yes. There is even bumpdrafting in Karting.
👍 Bumpdrafting can be very safe as long as it is done on the right part of the track. On the straightway, NOT into corners and braking zones. Maybe I should explain a little about this. Leaders use it to break away from the pack, others use it to help the car that they are drafting with to pass another car or to put a team mate into the lead.

I have strong views about the use of bump drafting because I often get bump drafted, and half the time the person bumping me has sent me crashing into a guard rail or has spun me into the grass/sand. Agreed, and neither was I, and I apologize for the lack of communication explaining that fact. I to was giving my opinion, and just tried to reason with you as to why I don't see drafting as "cheating".

Not to resurrect a topic that's already been flogged to death, but did anyone happen to see the Nascar cup race this spring at Talladega? Not only were they bump drafting on the straights, but with the COT and its flat bumpers, they were pushing each other through the corners as well! Two guys could get hooked up with the guy behind glued to the back bumper of the guy in front and together, they'd get a 10-15 mph advantage on the whole train and shoot to the front of the pack. Kyle Busch said afterwards that he wouldn't have won the race if Montoya hadn't been pushing him like that. There were only a handful of guys that were brave enough to do it, but when they did, they were able to move to the front at will. It should be a game changer this fall.

On the other hand, I remember last fall at Talladega when Jacques Villeneuve qualified for his first cup start, he said afterwards that as he gained confidence during the race, he tried bump drafting a certain driver, but he raised his hand to tell him to stop. Bump drafting is all about having that level of trust, and that can be really hard to achieve online.
