Anyone think it is too easy to brake in GT4?
In GT3 you had to brake way early and memorize each turn perfectly. In GT4 you can brake pretty late and recover.

I noticed this most on Appricot hill where there is the long straight before the hard 90degree turn. In GT3 it was a race breaker, either hit it on just right or lose it. In GT4 even if you brake late into it, you can pretty much recover.

I am driving with all aids off with DFP set to simulation.

I am not saying GT3 is any more real infact GT4's braking feels more like my real car but then again I am not driving at 120mph when I start braking.

What do you guys think of GT4 braking? Is it more real or dumbed down for us wannabe racers :guilty:

I think it feels really good and way more real with the DFP. I can't imagine what it would be like with the DS controller. I think i wouldn't like it as much as GT3 if i played with a DS. It seem like it would be way to sensitive with a button. IMO

Are you kidding? Braking is so much tougher in this that GT3. GT3 had antilock brakes. There are none in GT4. If you just slam on the brakes, you won't stop. You'll skid halfway to Sunday! You need to only put down like 90% brake presssure for effective braking. Braking has never been so fun! I use a DS2 and I have braking down pat. I can get 90% pressure or so instantly. I love GT4's braking.

wait... one thing i noticed is the breaks are really weak by default. have you installed a break controller and up'ed the strength of the breaks? That was the 2nd thing i noticed about the change. the Damn breaks are weak by default :) ever since i installed a break balance controller and set it from 3 to 11, ( or 12? i cant remember) for bothfront and rear with my trueno has outbreaked every car its raced against sofar in the beginners leag (and got burned on the straights if i dont get too much of a lead in the corners) :)

Maybey you weren't talking to me Event Horizon but:
I haven't played GT3 with a DS in a year, and i never will with GT4. I love GT4's braking and its great with the pedal where regulating brake pressure is easy. So i agree with you, kinda but i still think that would make GT3's braking easier with the DS than GT4. But like i said i don't use one. I just feel that GT4 is better suited for the DFP than a DS.

"driving will all aids on....." will take the sim out of simulation.
um.. didnt he say he was driving with all the aids "of"? (he meant to type "off" :) )

btw, i bought the car in ur sig, but havent driven it yet. I saw it on best motoring so i just had to have it. I got a 124HP Cappuccino that weighs about as much as my driving force pro wheel. 👍

There is such thing as traction control in real life, you know. That is an aid. Does that make this not simulation?

yeah, totally.

martha stewart is gonna be baking some understeer. ingredients include: brakes and a turned steering wheel.

um... GT4 still has antiock brakes on all the cars. the only way to lock up the brakes is with the e-brake.

try braking before you start turning.

Yeah I edited my post too "all driving aids off" .

I will check on the set up of my 1990 RX-7. I've only upgraded the muffler and turbo but not the brakes or anything else, (no brake controller). I will check if they have already been upgraded as I bought it used.

Ahh just got home from work, now its time to go make out with GT4!

lol, when you feel the difference in breaking power it will bring a smile to your face. :) And i'm just talking about installing a break controller.
