Personal conjecture enthusiastically included. I had a humourous idea as I was reading this article. It included a large blue oval writing love letters to a purple digitized PD.

Ford appears to have extended some good will here. With any luck this may indicate further collaboration between the two.

Any manufacturer should be honored to be in GT. And vice versa. I like that Ford recognizes this and has stated it to the public. I'm sure other manufacturers feel similar, but don't share it.

At any rate, I hope PD can model Ford's new Mustang lineup. They are far too good looking and quick to be ignored. And if they could, let's get the 2013 Shelby GT 500 in the game. 650 BPH. 200 MPH. Pony, what?

I'm for the new focus. I'd like to see the Mustang shrink on all sides. Honestly, they shoild put a target on the M3 and go for that with the Mustang.

I'm sure this is why 2 of the DLC car's were Mini's.

They made a deal with PD/Sony to get them in there and build brand recognition. And it worked, as I am considering a Mini for my next real car.

Make sure it's the Countryman if you value your masculinity.

LOL! At Least i hope that's a joke!

As to the Ford increasing their in game prescence, let's hope so. As mentioned in the article it's important for "brand recognition" to have the older cars, but it's the new cars that need advertising. Not a massive fan of Fords current UK line up, but i'm sure a mustang or two wouldn't go amiss.

I don't know why the Escort Cosworth was referenced in the article though, Sierra Cosworth is the one with the success in competition, and the Escort isn't really an Escort, it's just a Sierra made to look like an Escort!

I would just like to see a few more modern Ford's start pumping into GT. Shelby GT500? Boss 302? Hell a regular GT? Would love to see the new WRC Focus, DS3, Countryman and Polo show up too though.

I'll stop now before this turns into a wishlist.

Simply because everyone keeps asking for two cars (Porsche excluded) - the E30 M3 and the Escort RS Cosworth. That's why I referenced these two classic road cars specifically.

It's a fair enough point:tup:. Perhaps i should of been asking why is the Escort Cosworth so popular in comparison to Sierra, but that's a different topic altogether.

Let's hope more manufacturers share the shame thoughts, although the part about not caring too much about older cars has me a bit concerned.

I think if a manufacturer is proud of its heritage, in some cases maybe even more than their current lineup, it could be worthwile from a marketing perspective to put their brand in a wider historic context.
It's often done in advertising (and it's still being done, for example by Mercedes) to shift current models so I don't see why that would be any different in a videogame.
Ofcourse that's dependant on their marketing strategy.

I always suspected that the 2 classic Alpines added in GT4 (and still are in GT5) might be due to the rumoured plans during that time that Renault was about to relaunch that brand (which was eventually cancelled) and maybe this was a good platform to (re)introduce that brand to a new generation or wide audience, and so create interest for their new model.
Ofcourse this is pure speculation.

It was nice to see Ford acknowledge GT and games role in the auto industry.
It may be a new marketing tool like racing has been, a new form of "race on sunday sell on monday".

As far as what this may bring in the way of new cars remember that they are more interested in bringing brand new models (that are still being sold). So the brand idenity translates into actual sales (they cant sell you the classics).

They also mention that they aren't the ones to pick these new cars, and that their cars need to get "picked". It seemed like they were hinting that the fans need to speak up so PD will know what cars the fans want.

I for one would like to see the new Boss 302 Laguna Seca Edition

Ford has always been pretty welcoming of the gaming community, I mean, how many videos games have they authorized? I know of several Mustang Racing and Ford Racing titles.

PD could show their appreciation for Fords positive and encouraging comments, by giving up some of those Beautiful Ford Muscle and race cars from days Past. Im quite sure the Drag crowd would love a Ford Thunderbolt Galaxy and Hows about a Ford Pantera Detamosa. AHHHHHH Yeah.

I am hoping that Ford reaches the same level of teamwork that PDI currently shares with Nissan.

Ford should look at PD's Ford GT race cars, espically the carbon fiber GT in the NCD. ;)

Umm... They already did... Never heard of the Boss 302?

This could also open the door for other Ford brands like Lincoln which is about to have a re-launch in the U. S. It could prove interesting to see if it has much success as I'm sure it could find its way into the game.

Specifically I am referring to the dimensions of the car. The M3 is 7 inches shorter and 3 inches wider (mostly in wheel arches). I'd like to see the Mustang about 5 inches shorter and with tighter fitting body panels. American cars, sans the newer corvettes, look bloated. There is alot of space between the chassis and the body panels.

I was reading another forum and someone made an interesting point. One could compare the Mustang GT to the base M3 and the Boss 302 to something like the M3 CSL or the modern equivalent. I think this is somewhat unfair but a Mustang set closer in price and performance to a base M3 would find a market. The Boss 302 needs better breaks and suspension to truly compete to the M3. Straight line speed passe at best.

That being said, Ford has many new models that I would welcome to the GT series. The Fusion, the new Focus, the new Fiesta, the new Ka (which I would actually like to see in the US). Rumors of the return of the Puma would be a great as well. Ford in general is finally making cars people want to buy and if they are crediting games like and specifically GT with increased brand recognition their stable should be represented better in the game.
