Thread redundancy

Just a quick question. GTP seems to have at least 3 (highly posted in) threads about the same thing:

GTP WRS'ers and their ride -- Real life cars
Post a pic of your real car -- Real life cars
GTP Member's cars directory -- Real life cars

Now, while I'm aware that all these threads have been around for a long time, I was just wondering why their redundancy has never been dealt with or if their existence serves different purposes?

Just a product of my bored mind.
 
I've wondered the same thing, although I'd like more mod's and the public support for merging all three threads, since they are all long-standing threads in their own right.
 
Just merge them all into one massive "GTP Member's Vehicles" or something like that.

But posting links does not seem to add a lot in this context, does it.

I have made this thread specific for the WRS just to give the WRS a more social contact.
I see no need to merge this thread with the other 2 threads.

It's still redundant and isn't needed. If a racer in the WRS wants to show off their ride they should go to the proper thread in the proper forum (Automotive) as it has nothing to do with Gran Turismo.

But aren't WRS'ers GTP members as well? Shouldn't it be merged as well with the GTP Members' Car Directory? Let the WRS'ers socialize with the rest of the community! I realize some of them are... odd, but they surely aren't too good for the rest of GTP (j/k that last bit)

There are more social threads in the WRS section apart from the race threads.
The meaning of those threads is to show another form to socialize apart from the normal rivaly competition.
Many members do feel some need to talk other stuff then purly racing stuff just to know your competitors better.
In the race threads it is only race talk,so no off topic stuff .
 
Why can't they just migrate to the appropriate section for topics other then the WRS? We are all members of GTP and I don't see why those who race should have special privileges. If someone created a thread in the GT5 section that was called "GT Players Show Off Your Rides" it would be closed.
 
We have some off topic, social threads set up in the WRS area. It allows our racers the opportunity to post in an area where they know people they are racing against each week will see it, and it will reach their intended audience.

I know from experience, that a large portion of the WRS community tend to socialize in that area of the site, and may not frequent other areas. I was probably a member for a year or more, before posting outside of the WRS forum. I was here for the racing action of the WRS, but not necessarily the social aspect of some of the other forums, such as the automotive forum that hosts the other threads you mentioned. Over time, the site became a more social community for me, as I got to know many of the people I was racing with in WRS, attended LAN events, etc.

Some of the WRS threads are redundant, in the sense of the material being posted. However, they are not redundant from a standpoint of the smaller group the posts are directed towards (Those participating in the WRS).

As for the other 2 threads you mention, it looks like one was intended for pics, while the other was intended for discussion. I could see those being merged, but that's not really up to me. ;)
