Is there a way to turn of the e-mail notification from whenever a user post a reply to a thread that i've posted in?

My e-mail is getting spammed :odd: :dunce:

Yes.

Click on the "My Account" link at the top, go to the list subscriptions link underneath the subscription threads section, hit the check box directly to the right of notifications and you can either select "No email notification" or "Delete Subscription" from the drop down menu.

Ohh... I have been in there multiple times...

Must have overlooked it. Ha.. Thanks

The default behaviour when replying seems to be to subscribe to the thread, and send notifications..

[edit].. Just found the default behaviour option!!!

Maybe it would be cool if the default was not to subscribe? or is it just me ? :)

It's not just you, LOL.

Wow email spammed to high heaven.
Seems to subscribe every time I reply to a thread.

Edit. Yes it does.

And why did the emails change. I liked getting the post message inside the email notification. Now it is back to GTP style with just the link.

On GTP you could click in the upper right of that thread on "Thread tools" then "unsubscribe". But this site doenst have that option yet. So you have to do as others suggested.

You can edit your thread subscriptions here, and change the default behavior in your account options.

That was the default configuration of the forum software and something that I didn't catch before launching ForzaPlanet. I don't include the message contents on my website's emails for several reasons:
  • I receive all of the email that comes back to the forum's mailing address, and many, many users simply reply to those notification emails. I suppose they just assume they'll be posted or delivered to the other person. Regardless, it's confusing for them and very time consuming for myself.
  • When you reply to a thread, a permanent copy of your original post is immediately emailed to everyone who has subscribed to it. This effectively prevents you from making any quick edits, corrections, or changes to your post, and could create some awkward and unintended situations (and confrontations).
  • If a spammer replies to a thread, the contents of the message - including their spammy links - are emailed to everyone...and spam filters and ISPs will see my website as the original sender. I already have an extremely difficult time preventing GTPlanet and ForzaPlanet's messages from being labeled as spam, and this would make the job even harder. One simple spam post to a thread with hundreds of participants would be devastating to the site's email reputation.

The link you're referring to, under the "Thread Tools", is still there.

On GTP there is a link to "Unsubscribe" under the "Thread Tools".

"Unsubscribe" is not an option on FP for me. I am on IE8 if that helps.

I get that part but if we are also supposed to be playing nice, that shouldn't be an issue to begin with.
In any case, I was super excited to see the reply in the e-mail. A great on-the-go thing to have when I am on my phone and want to get through all my e-mails quickly without having to load a half dozen threads. Aww well.
