Thanks viperpilot. I'm still chasing it... :(

My instincts about the FTO SuperTourer '97 proved right, I now have a new car record for it with 301.63mph. [video] [YouTube]

It's video evidence instead of screen shot as I'd video's it for my own sake, then accidentally quit out of the max speed mode before taking the screen grab. :dunce:

Can someone confirm for me that the audio doesn't sync with the video playback on the YouTube version? I think they might be breaking my uploads, but it could be a playback issue on my end. Cheers. :)

OK, I finally beat that top speed... currently 369.70mph

I took a few cell phone pictures, and saved the replay... I'll try to make a video of it later on. Till then, my goals are over 370mph =)

Thanks to everyone for keeping an eye on things, I don't know how I can miss so many posts in 2 days, but it seems I can... And congratulations to all the new speeds, particularly Viper's RX-8! 👍

On a side note, in the hall of fame you list Opendriver19a as holding the fastest non-nitrous speed, yet in the updates you show Toronado's taking of the title. Probably want to correct the hall of fame to reflect that. :)

I'm thinking of doing a sort of 'high speed' video (maybe as a sort of advert for the 300mph club?), so I've started recording all my runs. I also think there may be some interest in people viewing these runs, I know I like watching them at least.

I'm currently in the process of rerecording (at faster speeds) some of my runs, and reuploading my videos to YouTube with a different codec, to hopefully fix the sound syncing problems. I'll go back through my posts and fix the links as necessary once they are ready. :)
 
I saw the video of tornados run to 319 and I kind of Fubared on my part when I did my run. I had the 366mph gearing with a few slight adjustments and it wasnt winding like it should. So when I get beck to my PS2 on monday, ill adjust my gearing to run harder in the redline and il see what I come up with..Until then I have nothing to report 'cause I been visting with some of the older reletives


I think A small part in my speeds is the controller im using. For example, I just bough a new logitech wireless DS2 and the butons are kind of pressure sesitive.Not like my regular wired DS2 where I have full control of how much gas I give the car. But with the new wireless one I have 10% or 100% and nothing in between.

It has also affect my WRS spilt times. Thats probably why im in Div 3....
 
Heh, I'm just using the standard official Sony Dual Shock 2 (I've been trying for 3 days to work out what DS2 meant). I even use the D-Pad for steering (rather than the sticks), as I've found the I'm much smoother round the test track bend with it.

Toronado's run is definitely beatable, as the black GT-One was used rather than it's coloured counterpart (which I assume would have a few more HP, due to the mileage difference).

Tapping the D-pad 20+times a turn is not the most efective way to "gain speed"

I wouldnt recomend it, you scrub speed by not making it one big smooth turn insted of tons of little tiny ones...

EDIT: sorry D.E., but i can't find my RX-8 speed on the leaderboard. you mention me @ the current speed section, but not in the board. don't worry, i guess you're busy at the moment......
 
jip, but it's different with the GT-One........don't know why but i have the feeling that i can't bring it a lot over 350! we'll see, and if not, i'll try the '04 Pesky!

Question. Is the 300mph club only open to people who have GT4? Or can those of us too lazy (or broke) to buy GT4 participate? I have a feeling I can push a few of my cars over that limit, so I was curious if my efforts would be counted.

And NO there won't be any wheelie glitch. lol
 
I have no idea how you could test the cars without the game... :odd:

If you are going to use GT / GT2 / GT3, it's a definite no no thanks to the very different physics models of the games.

But if you mean renting or borrowing a copy, I'm sure you could get in. No rule says that you must be the owner of the game, but you must play it.

I think each GT would need a seperate leader board. I don't know how possible 300mph is in GT3 (or earlier), but I might dig out my copy later and try.

Too poor? It's only $20 in the US now...
 
Good point, I hadn't thought of the physics change, as I haven't played GT4 in ages. Looks like I need to go cquire $20 so I can get myself a copy... Or maybe start this competition in GT3 without the wheelie glitch (if it hasn't been done yet)....
 
Thinking about it, there's no NOS in the other GT's, which rules most the cars out straight off. The physics differences probably discount the rest.

To conclude all the related posts, all speeds must be done in GT4. Perhaps I should add that to the first post... No, I won't, as we're in the GT4 Tuning and Settings forum, so it's pretty self-explanatory.

Still can't get that Chaparral record, I'm up to 308.72mph now (0.13 off).

Can't bring up much with my 88C-V either. My current feeling is that when my wheels dont lift I get a 359 run or so, and when they do, I'm on 366, right in the midst of the 'best' runs. I've tried everything from 4 to 6 gear settings, and a lot of variation with each, and I've tried out some exotic aerodynamic ideas, with little success, so I really don't know where to go from here.
