Watching that video again FormulaGT, I noticed you use very unusual gear ratios - I think that's the first I've seen in the 300mph Club that doesn't use all of the gears! Well, credit to you for going so fast without using all the cogs :sly:

DE

Thanks, I basically just maxed out the Auto set transmission and then gradually lowered the final to increase acceleration. Seeing as i only just scratched fifth, should I start fidling with the individual gear ratios?

Hi F089/H, and great name by the way 👍 which car are you referring to when you say 'it's possible'? There's two mentioned in that quote. The V12 LMR has been done, I think, and the M5 seems a likely candidate :)

Opendriver
is it USB or through the memory slot?
I have never seen or heard of one of these so dont go all nooby on me....
I'm not sure, I've never used or seen one either, I just know of them. Sorry.

FormulaGT, you could use the individual gears and with some cars you have to, but usually the Final Drive is sufficient to get you as high as the car can go :)

I've just been looking on the web and it looks like the maxdrive is a big memory card

Ghost, take out the bits of that we don't need for reference :p

I thought it would be.

Sorry Opendriver, that means it needs an adaptor / memory card reader for your PC as well! I wouldn't worry about it...

How's your '04 Pescarolo doing, Ghost?

DE

It happens. NOS timing is the usual thing, but try an oil change! It can make all the difference :)

Fiddle the gears and the downforce, see if you can get the fastest 2004 Pescarolo and catch my '03! Let's go :)

DE

Well, I've taken the Pescarolo record - but only just! The car is absolutely at it's limit, I could maybe gain half an mph through driving it differently but no more. It's totally flat-out, but I'm pretty sure it's on the ground and it crossed the speed trap at 325.53mph - a mere .28 faster than Toronado in the same car. Took some doing, though.

I'll get some close-ups of the front wheel as soon as possible, this car wheelies at the most unexpected setting changes at this speed, but I'm pretty sure she was on the ground here. Nevertheless, I'll get some photos soon. 👍

Just for reference.👍
The maxdrive is just a 16mb memorystick. The clever bit is on the cd which they give you, this isable to read your memory cards and transfer the data you want onto the memory stick. It would prob work with any memory stick. But you do need the program on the cd to utilise the data transfers
I hope this can answer your question:) :)

That thing is a monster on gas so I dont use it that often in enduros(once in the Fiji 1000km-won by 1.69 sec!)But for topspeed I mentiioned while back in the threads about it "swaying" from side to side and not having verry much control over it. The fatsest I got with it was 276 w/o nos. The reason:not stable enough to hit the nos, other wise I would hit the wall and have to start over

DE,I was wondering why my toyota GT1 speed was not verified.
What do I need to do- its under 350 by about .5mph so I dont need a video

What car do you mean?

That's strange Smuttney, because there's no option whatsoever to transfer video to a USB device in the Replay Theatre, only to another memory card... :odd:

DE

What hapens is this;
You do all the vids, gamesaves and whatever you want. Save them to the memory card. Then turn the Playstation off, take out what ever game (we'll use GT4), put in the Maxdrive CD you get WITH the MaxDrive. Turn the Playstation back on and Load up the CD. You then get a screen, similar to the memory manager you get on the playstation when you load it up with no disk in, you can the put in the MAXDRIVE into the USB slot. You then have the option of putting ANY data (Save games, Replays, Car settings, Pictures etc,) onto the MAXDRIVE (memorystick). You can then take them off onto your PC when you put the MAXDRIVE (MemStick) into your PC. They wont be in the PLAYSTATION format. The program you use on the 'Station converts them to a .MAX format. You can also compress your saves and Back them up this way, onto your PC for Archiving, or just for use later, if you need the extra space on your Memory Card! 👍

Ohhhh, I see Smuttney! Makes a little bit more sense now :p I still won't get one, though! I'll just record off my webcam or digicam, it's easier!

I wouldn't know about that one Opendriver, the overpowered V10 didn't appeal to me much compared to the wee V6! But that might explain why the 2004s cant touch the 2003s on the leaderboard, though.

I think I've got an idea for a new member... I'll do some testing :sly:

DE

I think I´ll get busy with that ´03 Pescy and see where I end up. 325? Sounds a bit slow, doesn´t it? Is it actually slower than the Merc CLK-GTR? Well, not impossible of course, due to the V6, but considering it´s highly advanced aerodynamics, I have a feeling it can do a bit more. I´ll give a shot and than return to either eat my words (tough over the internet - the monitor is a bit hard to chew) or post a pic with a new record.

Woohoo!
Heres my run with the ´03 Pescy!

I actually had 326.xx at my very first try, so I just had to get 330. Strange gearratios though.

And to Alive Ghost: The R8 is good for speeds over 350. If I had the possibilities, I would post some vids, but sadly, I don´t have that equipment.
If you´re less picky, you can use the settings for the R8 posted in my sig.

EDIT: I also noticed that the ´03 Pescy was proned to wheelie, especially at the moment the "churchill effect" began, but I sorted that with some unusual damping and a little harder springs in the rear. Max downforce all around is a must on this car. The entire secret to it´s speed is in the gearing, wich took a while to get sorted correctly.

The Jag xj220 roadcar cannot do it. Pretty sure about that! I´ve tried it, and it seems the springs are too hard to cope with the speed, and tops out at around 290. The racer is on the board, so thats done.

I´ve got a few ideas myself, and we shall see what I can do with the cars I´ve been thinking about. Working on one (293.xx mph right now), and have three more to try out.

Seems the Jag xj220 racecar is not on the leaderboard. Must have misread or dreamt...Oh, and DE, I found that you missed out the Oreca Viper in the "Cars Used in the 300mph Club So Far" list. Just FYI.

After a couple of hours spent on further tuning and testing on the Minolta, i have managed 359.23 MPH. I'm pretty damn sure this is fastest the car can go without it going into a wheelie.

Here's the link to my vid:

http://www.savefile.com/files/1398512

If any further confirmation is needed, i could post a pic of the wheels. And if someone knows an easy way of doing this, please tell me! I never thought this speed was possible, but this car is UNbelieveable!

FormulaGT

Well, first time posting on this thread, but I remember it from a while ago.
I have spent the last 6 hours (close to 2 am here) trying to perfect my settings for the Toyota GT1 TS020...I got close, but still didn't beat Rac3rX...(grr).
364.60 MPH, not too shabby, but I still want 270 lol (that's what I will probably spend my entire weekend on..)
Here are pics and a video link to my run:

img01288oj.jpg

Here is a pic at 364 MPH, no wheelie :), body does lift on some occaisions (churchill effect), but does not wheelie
img01292rq.jpg

and the link to the video (19.03 Mb)

I switched the video from normal to display some time after I hit the nitrous so I could keep the spot I started the nitrous a secret...

good enough to be on the leaderboard?

Video/image problems? pm me so I can fix them! (but don't ask for the settings :))

Team666, I don't think it's acutally possible to get that car (Pescarolo 2003) to do that... The sixth gear ratio on mine was as wide as it will go, and so was the Final Drive... Anyway, I'd like a couple of tyre shots because that car really does wheelie. I don't mean to cause offence, but I find it almost impossible to believe that you got 326 on your first try with such oddball gears.

Looks like I've got some catching up to do anyway. And some videos to watch.

EDIT - Again Team666, that is a near-impossible speed in that old car (R92CP). I know mine doesn't stand a chance of that. I notice that the colour is cut out of the photo, so I can't tell if it's a Black car or not, but if it is it's just not possible. If it's a new car, I'd like a video, please. No offence, but it's too far ahead of everyone else to accept straight away.

I hadn't thought of the Jag XJ220, and I don't really like it anyway so I wouldn't try it myself. If it can take 70-shot NOS, it might be doable.

Congrats Ghost, you're almost in the top ten! You're also about half a mph ahead of my R8, so looks like that'll have to go a bit quicker as well.

I'm downloading your video now, FormulaGT.

Hi CoolGeekz, and a nice entrance to make! I'll watch your video right after I've taken a look at FormulaGT's. Looks legit enough from the photo, but I'll watch the video as well. You might want to edit your post, you keep putting 2 instead of 3  we're a bit faster than that here!

Team666
Oh, and DE, I found that you missed out the Oreca Viper in the "Cars Used in the 300mph Club So Far" list. Just FYI.
Oh yeah. Cheers.

EDIT2 - FormulaGT, watching your video now... I notice that the video does not actually show the 359.23mph run, just something fairly close to it, and the resolution is pretty poor... But I think it's on the ground, so it seems fair to allow it. Well done! 👍

Downloading your video now, CoolGeekz.

EDIT3 - Coolgeekz, watching you video now... Why Do You Keep Putting 2!?!...And AGAIN at the end!
Well, silly errors aside, it's verified. Great video quality, too. Well done 👍

DE

Finally, i think i'm into to the top 3, but for how long... . Regarding Rac3rX's top speed, is that even possible without the wheels leaving the ground (there seemed to be a lot of controversy over whether or not the video was edited). Anyway, i think i'll take a break from my Minolta, as it just doesn't seem possible to go any higher without breaking the rules. I am interested in testing out the TS020 however, as people (such as CoolGeekz) seem to get ridiculus, but legit speeds like his.

EDIT: i see what you mean about the resolution. strange really my previous clip was filmed with the same camera and it was like 3X clearer! Anyway, glad it's another legitimate entry.
