three mistakes and one nice detail

Detail: When driving an open-wheel car like FGT, driving onto grass makes the wheel a bit dirty, then dirt wears off in a few seconds. I remember reading somewhere that in GT5 cutting track will reduce the wheel's traction for a few seconds, but I never knew it is visualized as well.

Happens on every car you drive, not only open wheelers.

There are plenty examples of terrible grammar in the descriptions as well. :dunce:
You have to remember that all the text will have to be translated from the original Japanese into multiple languages, including English. There are bound to be a few mistakes when you are dealing with that much localised content.

That I never knew. I fear the reason drifters often put them mirrored is because they don't know the language! I'm Chinese and Kanji is just Chinese characters used in Japanese, so I can read them. Mirroring Kanji doesn't make any sense to me.

In my example, the "RE Amemiya" is also mirrored so there's no excuse, they slacked!!!

This remind me "McFly, you are a slacker!" hahaha

If you look, the most of drift cars have they liverys mirrored, i mind in real life.

Yeah but how hard could it be to get an English speaker to go through and proof read them.

btw on one description I saw the word aalthough Google translate would've told them that was wrong!

Do you suppose that because of all the "kicking and screaming" from fans to get the game out on time ...that PD half assed rushed the game??

The F2007 description has some poor grammar and dodgy 'facts' like Kimi winning the championship with Ferrari in 2007 on his 'debut' year. (It was his 7th season in F1, 1st year with Ferrari.)

I'm sure it says "debut year for Ferrari" which it was... In the same description though, they call Lewis Hamilton "Louis Hamilton" :scared:

I'm sure it was all on purpose, not them 'slacking'. I've always assumed the reason drifters do it, is as a joke on the fact they don't go the direction you'd normally expect to.

Here's a similar RE Amemiya drift RX-7:

Here, though, is another mirrored error, on the Acura NSX. It also has a tachometer & speedometer that are maxed out when parked in photo travel, and what looks like white-painted "ACURA" & "SRS" lettering on the steering wheel (they are normally the same black plastic as the rest of the wheel):

hey, thanks for educating me!!

That's nothing impressive at all... First time I saw this was in ToCa Race Driver 3, and the game is 6 years old...
And the tyre only fades in and then fades out, no detail of the dirt whatsoever.

Exactly my thoughts! PD should have given this game the entire 2 year development cycle it obviously deserved instead of trying to rush it out so close to the PS3 release date....

The left front amber hazard light doesn't work on the race mod ZR1, the right on does.

It's cool that cars that have suction fans on the bottom (McLaren F1, X1, 2J) will blow sand and dirt up when stationary in sand or dirt.

When taking a picture of my R8 V10, I noticed the engine says V8 or 4.2 on it (can't check as Bob is going around suzuka!)

1: My ZR1 RM's lights all seem to work fine. Crash damage, maybe?

2: McLaren F1s have suction fans?

I also noticed today there's an '03 Scion xA. The similar Toyota ist was sold in Japan as an '03, but the Scion brand's first model year was '04. Small thing, I know, and I'm still very happy and impressed with GT5 overall.

A reason is maybe, that the car appears sideways in the opponents mirror and so he can read the sponsors :D

It looks like the premium 07 Mustang GT is euro spec with side markers on the front fenders above the GT logos & reflectors in the rear bumper.

If it's all mirrored, it's on purpose. For instance, take the Signal R34 ...

The main sponsor, Tanabe, is mirrored.

I think the main reason they mirror them is just for aesthetics really to match the other side.

But I won't doubt they also don't know the language.

They seem to have mixed up some digits in the info on one of the Honda hybrid cars. I think it's fuel consumtion and it says that it's "below 999.0" gallons or liter per something. Anyway it sounds a bit much, so probably it should be 0.999.

Not that it really matters, I can live with a few typos. After all, if I want to read I go for a book, not for the Playstation.

The mirrored textures is a bit more interesting. Probably to save time, as I remember it there was a huge outcry from people that Kaz should be fired because of his obsession for detail and that the game should be released already... Well, flaws like this is what we get then. I don't see it as a mistake, rather a result of the time pressure. Maybe they will fix it in a patch or something...

I said it before and I say it again: I very much doubt that we will see 1000+ cars in a game again, because the amount of work required to get everything right is just out of proportions. Just take the example with the information about each car. That is 1000+ pages of text right there. And you need to translate it to all the different languages and make sure that none of the texts are mixed up in the process. And just to make new textures (unreversed) for the cars, say that you can do three cars per day, would take a whole year worth of labour.
