i really think it has to do with the car. And the actual shift rate of the car. If the car was manual with a clutch, it all depends on the driver and how fast he/she can shift. Paddle shifters have to wait till the car engages the clutch. And i each car does it at a different time.0

i thought the F430 only had paddles?
does GT5P allow the use of a clutch on cars with paddle shifters???

You can use manual clutch on the F430 in GT5p. I think you can have/buy a F430 manual shift in real life (not 100% on that, only ever seen paddle shift).

What was surprising is I tried the SL55 AMG in GT5p and couldn't get the clutch to work, it seemed to be locked out, anyone noticed this. I know the SL55 is paddle shift in real life but didn't expect the game block it. The GTR Dual Clutch semi auto gear change in real life and the game is very quick and using manual would be a slower in both so I've not tried it to see if it lets me use manual.

Yup, just tried it with my G25 and it does it when using sequential/paddle shift AND the H-shifter when the clutch is turned off!

When I turn the clutch on and use the H-shifter is doesn't do this anymore, and I have full control over it.

It appears the game is coded not to engage the clutch until you get to 2000 RPM or less.

It engages the clutch again when the revs match the revs you would get for the current speed in the gear you're shifting to

This is what the interior of the F430 in GT5P should look like. And this is the reason why you CAN drive it with the G25's H shifter and clutch.

SL55 has an automatic gearbox with paddle shifters... not the same as an automated manual 'box.
