People say that it doesn't make a difference and this in an age old argument, but it definitely feels different when I am drifting, I feel the difference in control, but in racing I strangely don't feel any difference at all when adjusting it.
It definitely doesn't affect wheels. I confirmed this with Polyphony directly.

I can't believe that hasn't stuck for P1 😯 that was an amazing lap (as always 😅).

Glad to see these results with a T598 🔥
Yeah I thought my 51.701 time would hold but a talented 13 year old European driver pipped me by 18 thousandths👍.

Here's another T598 Sport Mode WR though.

Did this on day 1 too! The turn 1 drift simply isn't possible with a lesser wheel, like a belt driven one.

Druids makes the car look like it's on rails, that is unreal 😯
That was the exact face I pulled after exiting from Paddock Hill bend. Still P1 even after several heavy weight drivers have tried their hand at it.

Thanks to the T598, it's much easier to explore a time trial's limits, with its consistent feedback delivery👍

I switched from T300RS GT to T598 this week. The main reasons were I wanted to:
  1. Try DD - well, the DD is a significant step up over belt, no questions. It's much easier to catch a slide - most of them were impossible on T300.
  2. Get rid of overheating issue (and loosing FFB during the race) - damn it, I raced 1hour race on Gr4 yesterday, FFB in GT7 set to 5/1, recommended Thrustmaster settings for the GT7. The base got really hot and much of FFB strength faded away after around 50min. The room was around 19°C. I was hoping Thrustmaster learnt from the past but it doesn't seem to be the case. What a shame.
Mine t598 also have overheat problem that I was playing 10 laps at Susuka , last two laps the detail of ffb faded away. on the other hand , the FFb in gt7 is not so noticable in the mid turning corner than t300rs, I used to have t300 for almost 10 years and get burned during gt7 10 laps race

  • Since the new v2.52 firmware for the T598 base, in PS5® games incorporating the latest THRUSTMASTER SDK, the racing wheel is detected as a T598 in PlayStation Mode 2 (RED) and as a T-GT in PlayStation Mode 1 (BLUE) = backward compatibility. ,
  • your racing wheel also works with all PS4™ compatible games listed in the LIST OF PLAYSTATION®4 GAMES section.

And this:

The firmware version of your T598 wheel base (and some wheel rims) is displayed on the screen of your T598 wheel base.
FW: 2.52 is the latest firmware version for the T598 wheel base.
It is imperative that you update your base with the latest firmware version.
To carry out the firmware update, install the My Thrustmaster Panel software (download link available below in the SOFTWARE section) and follow the instructions.
IMPORTANT: If you are using the T-LCM pedal set (and only in this case), after installing the new v2.52 firmware, you must manually select TLCM mode on the T598 base screen, in the PEDALS submenu.
Your selection will be saved in the T598’s internal memory.

FW: 1.25 is the latest firmware version for the SportCar Steering Wheel (included in the T598 bundle).
Your wheel rim is already up to date with this version = you don’t need to update it.

Note regarding the FERRARI 488 GT3 WHEEL ADD-ON and EVO RACING 32 WHEEL ADD-ON wheel rims (sold separately):
in order for these wheel rims to work properly with the T598 base (especially on PlayStation),you must update them with a new firmware version V1.55.
To carry out the firmware update, install the My Thrustmaster Panel software and follow the instructions.

FYI, for the strange whistling sound when in menus, it really does work. It didn't bother me, but it's a nice fix, didn't think they could do that with a software update.

After the update the temperature of the base is way higher than before, being the thermometer my bare hand, but it’s noticeable. I hope it holds the long sessions.

I thought it was higher too.

I only tend to use the wheel on GT7 every other Thursday night for racing for 2.5 hour, but this week I only raced for 1 hour and it was definitely hotter than usual 🤔

Although I did try @Metalgear9493 settings and then the new ones from Discord so that may have had a factor in it too.

I made some slight in-game adjustments to my settings sir. Now using -2 steering sensitivity and 10-10 feedback. Not going to bother updating the firmware as I'm very fast with this current version.
When I first got it I had it on 10, 10 and it felt great, really strong and good for drifting, but I wasn't very stable with it when racing.

Your last base settings seemed to work great with in game settings at 6, 1.

When I changed in game to 3, 1 and the Discord settings the wheel started to feel a bit jumpy, kind of like cogging but after changing the damping back to 60% it felt much more stable.

# About the BLUE Mode (PlayStation Mode 1) or the RED Mode (PlayStation Mode 2) with the new firmware v2.52:

  • On PS4 games:
- only the BLUE Mode is compatible and on this mode the base is always detected as a T-GT Wheel
https://support.thrustmaster.com/en/product/t598p-en/?open=text-1913

  • On PS5 games:
- in the BLUE Mode the base is now recognized as a T-GT
- in the RED Mode the base is now recognized as a T598 but only if the game is using the latest Thrustmaster SDK (like GT7 for example). If the game is using the old Thrustmaster SDK (like EA WRC, ACC for example) then the base is recognized as a T-GT (even in this mode).

# Thrustmaster T598: FFB Settings in games with new firmware v2.52:

Hi guys,

I am new to T598 and DD gang.
I am coming from G29 wheel and have some question about T598.

I have managed to get great deal as local retailer had one "slightly used" with full warranty. which usually means that the wheel was returned in 14 days after purchase (which is legal where I live, you can return stuff without any reason within this period for full refund, if it isn't damaged).

I get some weird feeling from the wheel and I am not able to tell if it's some issue which could be reason to return it, or if it's normal behaviour of this wheel or DD in general.

Sometimes the wheel vibrates in weird way which I am not able to tell if it's hardware/software issue or it's information from the car/track.
The sensation is similar to driving on the rumble strip but in situations when I am nowhere near rumble strip. First time it was like gear grinding, or skipping similar to what the G29 does. I thought that DD should be buttery smooth. After some testing I found out it doesn't happen every time and it gets stronger or softer with ffb force slider/adjustments. Usually it happens when driving close to grip limit, so I think it might be information of understeer. But it's almost like clipping. Could somebody care and explain to me what might be going on? I think it's not physical friction inside the base, all rotations for example when stationary are smooth.
Game I play is mostly Gran Turismo 7, but tried also Automobilista 2 with similar result.

If it's normal and is some driving information I would also appreciate to know what is it and what to do with it from driver point of view.

Thanks in advance!

Mine does this exact same thing! I assumed it was "informing" of grip limits, but can take a few corners with it shuddering away happily faster than when not! 🤷🏼‍♂️🤷🏿‍♀️🤷🏻

Day one leader in a Gran Turismo 7 Sport Mode combo, using Racing Hard tires, 12,000 entrants so far.

Using my same settings but I may have neglected to mention a particular in-game setting that's very useful, it's Vibration Function. I set it to 150.

Will do, I've set it up on my playseat challenge but due to the height of the base it blocks my tv, next job this week is to take the base off the tv and mount the tv on the wall with a bracket.
