So I guess then this ends the chances of a new Fanatec wheel being the official wheel of choice. Kinda sad news in a way if so.

The question now is do we expect a T500 variant with new rumble motors that will highlight the physics which the standard controllers have been reported as having with multichannel type effects being felt?

If Thrustmaster can achieve agreements with the likes of Ferrari in the past how cool would a Mclaren P1 steering wheel be based on the T500 but improved.

Although with Thrustmaster they could go for a budget product for larger potential sales.
Look forward to finding out.

TM and Ferrari have been thick as theives for YEARS, so I don't see that changing any time soon. I'm just hoping whatever new wheel they release might just happen to have cross compatible rims with the T500!

I'm so glad that TM secured the deal as opposed to Fanatec. Laughable firmware at launch, issues with supply and distribution, broken promises, its easy to see why MS/T10 chose to no longer do business with Fanatec.

If we're talking about the much-rumored "T100," I'm not holding out much hope on that being anything close to "high-end" stuff based on this:

http://www.alternate.de/Thrustmaste...___FFB_PC-PS3,_Lenkrad/html/product/1078555/?

129.90 Euro equals about $172.50 . . . 2-pedal setup . . . "progressive resistance" brake pedal means no load cell . . . no mention of degrees of rotation (900 degrees would be a marketing point that WOULD get mentioned) . . . unfortunately, all this sounds like an XBox versoin of this to me:

Hope I'm wrong, but I'm thinking I'm probably not.

:(

John,

the xbox version is already there:

http://www.amazon.de/dp/B008JABA16/

you remember? It was released, when Thrustmaster had released these teaser videos some time ago.

Also in this "Alternat.de" link it says "PC/PS3". So I have the hope, that we get at least a "real" wheel and pedal set. I stated over at ISR forum, what makes me thinking, that you might be wrong :sly:

Definitely hoping I'm wrong! If they paired the F430 Force 2-pedal set (which was the nicest mass-market pedals I'd seen from TM prior to the T500 pedals) with a T500 base, that would be a good, basic combo.

Alternately, if they adapted parts of the T500 900-degree mechanism to the older F430 Force (which felt a lot like the "predecessor" to the T500 even though it only featured 270-degrees of rotation), that would make for a very nice entry-level wheel that could easily supplant the G27 as "THE" lower-cost wheel to have.

That would be a great move by TM, so maybe that's the direction they're going with the T100.

That was such a nice looking wheel, even if it was all plastic. I never understood why they didn't give it force feedback, or I would've bought one myself.

Actually, the F430 Force did have a belt-and-gear driven FFB mechanism, and it felt quite smooth and quiet, much like the T500. It's only drawback (IMO) was that it only had 270 degrees of rotation.

Lovely wheel, though, with great ergonomics and the best sim racing paddle shifters I've seen ever (even better than the T500 and CSW paddle shifters).

If those are the pedals and thats the actual wheel rim I think GT5 got a better offical wheel from TM than Forza 5 is gonna get.

The wheel is in beta stage. So we really have no idea what TM has in mind for a finished product. Dan also mentioned that the wheel has new technology in it, so who knows.

Awe... Shucks! :sly:
Watch the video on the link. See them in action! 👍

DOH! Watched the video but missed the pedal shots the first time!

Being quite familiar with the T500 pedals, I have to say that these pedals look like a more "commercialized" version of the T500 pedals, minus the "flip-over" bar. I'm betting they are constructed the same way, but maybe using more plastic and less metal.

If that's the case, that bodes well for potential modifications.

And here's a reasonably close shot of the wheel itself:

Something else to think about...

There are 3 pedals there, which means it has a clutch. Which would lead a person to assume there will be a gated shifter available. Now, will it be the TH8RS that we currently know of? If so, where does it plug in? :D Into the wheel? into the xbox? My guess would be the xbox itself.

Edit: Also the rim looks to be a modified version of the new F458 rim. The only major difference being the knob in the lower right corner. The hub seems to be different as well.

That looks like a cool wheel. Definitely will pass on Forza 5 though cause I don't have the money for a brand new wheel... I'll just mod my Elite and use it for PC!

Well, knowing T10 they could have just added it because of the speed you gain using a clutch. It would be a wrong decision not to have the TH8RS not work though. At least have it connect to the wheel if they can't connect it directly to the Xbox.

You don´t necessarily gain any speed using clutch. Quite the opposite really unless there is a conscious move to add extra delay between shifts when not using a clutch. They do that in some mods to make H-pattern users more competible versus the paddle shifters.

I would be extremely surprised if FM5 would have an advanced clutch simulation. Heck LFS is the only sim I know that made an effort in this :)

I am not sure FM5 is going to warrant a new console and wheel purchase, for me not with so much other competition. It really needs to be special.

That video looked like in car has jaggy shadows ala GT5.

May be down to beta game but FM5 just looks to be getting no closer to PC simulation. It will be interesting regards physics to see how this compares to GT6 for actual driving experience with a wheel.

I mean that in no quarrel type way but from general interest.

I know that it won't end up looking like that, but I don't think they should have bothered to bring a beta wheel to E3.
It's so crude and is basically a modified T500 with a square box cover.
They should of made more of an effort with the appearance

Maybe the final design is hidden inside the box and they didn't want to show it yet?

Also, that's NOT the Thrustmaster booth -- it's the Forza booth, so they're NOT showing off new TM hardware, they're USING TM hardware to show off Forza. They wouldn't want to show new hardware that would create its own buzz and thus take away from Forza's splash.

You never want to be the center of attention at someone else's birthday party -- that's just poor form.

;)

Very true :)

That shape would be excellent for adding a dash with full analog gauges, I wish the current T500 was designed like that. On this new set the pedals look like a cheap plastic kids toy. If indeed this set is for Forza, the wheel and pedals will be a wireless connection to the Xbox.
