I just bought this wheel for a smoking deal on eBay. The only issue is the seller says it would not connect to PC and doesn't have an xb1 to connect it to and try. I've read you must download the drivers from thrustmaster first to make it work on PC its not simply plug and play. Is it possible I got a smoking deal at 120.00 because of there incompitance or did I just buy a 120.00 dollar paper weight. I plan on using this for PC only so hopefully I did good. Anyone with experience with this wheel feel free to chime in.

From what I remember it's not plug and play. So you could have got a killer deal. Someone with more recent experience with updating the TX needs to confirm that though.

I really hope thats the case. Even if not i think i could still get my 120 back out of it if i put it back on ebay. For that price i'm willing to take the chance.

Ya for sure man. I did all that about six months ago and I don't have a great memory anymore but I'm about positive everything has to be downloaded manually for PC.

I don't know man. I think only the first version of TXs needed a firmware upgrade in order to be used with Xbox1, but the PC should be able to recognize it with no problems... $120 for a wheel that retails for more than triple that simply doesn't seem legit to me. Hopefully all will be fine, but you might be getting a lemon. Even without drivers it should be detecting it, not as a wheel but as a generic joystick with 3 axes.

I hope not, but my buddy has an xb1i can test it in also if all else fails. I'm willing to risk 120.00 for something that's worth triple that. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Lol.

The PC should recognize the wheel regardless if the drivers are installed, it may only recognize it as a USB device. The drivers do have to be installed for it to function properly but if the wheel isn't even recognized by the PC at all, its probably defective and needs repair.

Well Jersey I hope I didn't give you false hope.:nervous: As I said my memory isn't that great. I guess to me it all depends what the seller means by it didn't work with PC. If he just tried plug and play then no it's not going to work that well.

Well i'll find out what they meant when it arrives. Even if it is bricked when it arrives i'll either try and scam TM into a replacement or put it back onto ebay and get as much back as i can from a person who may think like me. I'm willing to risk 120.00 for a few weeks to find out. Whats the worst that can happen. LOL

Don´t scam TM are you a criminal or something?
And if it´s broken don´t scam another fellow simracer wtf!

I hope I misinterpret you. You may got a killer deal. I had issues getting my TX recognized also because I run a ****** Asus Z87 mainboard and there is all kind of usb problems with this chipset. If the first buyer was not computer savvy and mostly wanted just to run Xbox One anyway you may got a great legit deal. Though if you hold true to your word I hope you get scammed lol.

Oh noes, a for sale thread not on the rumble strip, let me contact a mod ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh wait

Oh

carry on LOL

Hmm i use an asus z87 also. And what i meant was i would try and get a replacement from TM (why not?) and if that wouldn't work i would put it back on ebay and advertise it as such. Wouldn't try and pass it off as working 100%. I'd never rip someoff knowingly. I value my ebay rating.

Also what did you have to do to get it working? I'm guessing you got the issues resolved? And also how do you like it?

And scam probably wasn't the best word. How about weasel a replacement out of TM. It's worth a try at least.

There was a setting in the bios. I think I disabled XHCI or what it was called. I can check it tomorrow

You can say you bought the wheel on ebay and ask for a replacement yes. If you have the original receipt it may go through.

As for advertizing you would say it wouldn´t work on my PC and I don´t have a Xbox One so it may not work at all. Thrustmaster claims there is no warranty. May be a hard sell :)

My buddy has an xb1 so at least i can test it on that if the pc route fails, but i really think it's gonna work after some tinkering. At least i keep telling myself that.

I just recieved my Thrustmaster TX Saturday. It connected with my Xbox with no problems. I did plug it into my computer and installed the driver with no issues. You have to go to the Thrustmaster site in order to get the downloads. Hope it works out for you

I just got the wheel today and initial results are it isn't recognized on my PC. Got a fantasy football draft to go to now. Hopefully I can get it straight when I get home.

About the only advice I can give you is to see if you can get another break-away cable and try it. Some people have had issues with the break-away cable not making good contact. They are the same break-away cables that are used on Xbox 360 wired controllers. Otherwise, it looks like the wheel is dead and needs repair.

Ive tried that with no luck. I've been in contact with thrustmaster. They probably aren't gonna warranty it which is understandable. I'm gonna see what they want to repair it. If its not to bad I'll go that route, if it is I'll put it back on eBay and hopefully get most of my money back and put it towards a csw v2.

I havent made it over to my buddies house yet with it, but judging by the way it acts I have a feeling it isn't going to.

Doesn't work on the x1 either. Also tm customer service is terrible even after I told them I'm willing to have it repaired at my cost. Its back on eBay listed for parts only. Ah well you win some you lose some. I knew I was taking a gamble.

Edit..... Listed on eBay as is for parts only and it sold in less then 2 hours. Even made 15 bucks.

How's the reliability on these wheels in general ?

It seemed like 6 out of 10 reviews i read was either it didn't work out the box or was dead not long afterwards. I bought mine knowing it had issues, so i can't really say to much about it.

Bloody awful figures.

I don't think they're nearly as bad as the Amazon reviews would have you believe. That being said, I feel confident in saying maybe 2 out of 10 end up broken, but they usually die within the first week or two. I would recommend buying from Amazon since their return policy is unmatched. I visit a lot of forums and while I've seen some reports of them dying, its not nearly as bad as Amazon reviews would have you believe.
