Tighter Aspec/Bspec race restrictions?

Hey Guys/girls:

Sorry if this has been posted before (did a search and found nothing)

A thought just occurred to me while doing the French cup (where French cars were only allowed) Are the races in A spec and B spec to easy? I mean to do the French race, I used a Peugeot Team Total leMans car (didn't feel like buying a car i would never use again !) then after i completed both races, i thought about how easy it was and how open the race was to types of competition (no real competition when you have a 300hp sedan vs a 700hp race car :yuck: ) So here are my two thoughts...

Thought 1:

Should they put tighter restrictions ie maximum displacement, types of tires, BHP, weight etc etc where you are only limited to those to make it more challenging?

Thought 2:

Whatever car you enter, the game automatically adjusts and places your competitors accordingly. Which means if you enter a BMW M3 thats heavily tuned, the game will match your car (tuned and everything) with competitors that will make it challenging.

I felt really bad after that, but then i checked out all other races and it seems that this is spread out across the board. What do you GTPer's think?

Its as easy as you want it to be. If you dont want to overpower the event then dont, but I dont see why PD has to force that on everyone.

Remember back when we weren't so rich? Yeah, I do. The fact that you have to buy a car meeting those specifications is a pain in the rear! Let me justify. Say for example, you have a Citroen C4. Your car doesn't meet the specific requirements and you must buy another car. That means that you need to grind for money (which isn't fun) to get the car. It's sort of like how we had to grind for XP to participate in certain races. I think less strict restrictions would be better.

I agree here! But that means that they need to get rid of the "Typical Opponents" thing.

I don't know why PD didn't just toss in a difficulty option and maybe payout bonuses for turning off aides...

The idea of matching the competition to your car is interesting but it also kind of kills the prupose of upgrading if everytime you upgrade your competition will just match you step for step...

Careful... there's a sizable contingent at GTPlanet that feel that EVERY event should be possible to completely overpower and beat by several laps, or somehow their 'rights' to play this game any way they want to (up to and including making it easier than Mario Kart, apparently!) are being trodden on!

I have a sneaky feeling most of them are under ten, but online, who can tell?

As long as it's optional

I really hate that idea. You might as well have one race in the game, and then just let the cars change to match you. It's basically arcade mode. The "theme" races in GT Mode are nice.

I think that he/she means that the AI will have tuned versions of their car, like a tuned Dodge Ram 1500 for the pick-up race, so the "theme" will remain the same.

Just bring back A Spec points. This then still allows the race to be as easy or hard as you want but also give some sense of achievement to it.

Signed. The game should acknowledge somehow if one does the race as a race. It doesn't have to have great meaning, just anything.

Oh, and every race should show directly what tires the AI will use to make it easier to choose the right ones.

As badly as the AI drive, as early as they brake for corners, simply matching their specs still doesn't make for a competitive race much of the time.

Truth is, until the AI gets faster, it is always going to be an uneven match. I can't figure out why Shift's AI used to be often quite a challenge to beat, but GT's are so easy...

This might be the ultimate 'driving' game, but it sure isn't the ultimate RACING game.

It never has been though, GT has always been more about the cars and tuning them than actually racing.

Do you reckon it's practical to have a suggested car for each event. e.g. One that is so underpowered/lacking grip that it would award the maximum number of (hypothetical) A Spec points, but is still just capable of winning if you drive well.

That's more or less what I was wanting to say. I was basically just going to say that people need to restrict themselves. Nobody is forced to overkill.

This worked great for FM3. It sort of encouraged you to drive without training wheels so you can get bigger cash payouts but at the same time never forced you to do anything you weren't comfortable with. Raise the AI difficulty, you get bigger rewards for winning. Toggle TCS, ABS, or ESC off, you get more cash.
