Time to start thinking about a new car, gas is starting to eat me

The Civic is also a great car.
But, get a four door with an auto trans.
Why? Because, the Coupe, particularly with a manual is likely to have been "molested" by a previous owner. And they are STILL in the top ten most stolen/broken into cars.

I guess I should finally update this thread

3 months ago I finally got my gas saver. It's a 1993 Suzuki GS500 sport bike! 55 to the gallon is a beautiful thing. Too bad it's broken so often, but everything is cheap to fix. Currently she's been out of commission for a week due to a broken clutch cable

I was going to say get a VW Diesel, same mileage as the bike.
But it looks like it's a little too late for that.

 I can't afford those! Love driving them though I've got a lot of seat time, great stuff!

I get to go fast! Mid 14s quarter mile,0-60 in 5.1, it gets the job done lol

My pickup truck is faster lol. 0-60 in 5.0 with 4wd on and 13.4s in the 1/4 according to the last run on the strip. That's not bad though. On a bike things seem much, much faster.

It's only a starter bike though.... Hopefully by next summer I'll be on a 600 Ninja or Gixxer. Still getting great mileage, and running in the 11s

Those would be very nice to have. I wouldn't mind getting a bike license and purchase one. You should get an R1 though =P

I have absolutely no desire to go into the 1000cc class. Cost prohibitive, and what not. Except for a Daytona 955.... so sexy

Go get an old Beetle. Plenty of people take Honda and Subaru engines and put them in there. I've seen people put 350 V8s in them (I don't recommend if you're looking for efficiency,).

I've seen people put 7.5 liter V8's in them. XD. You can get probably 20mpg though because the car itself is not real heavy.

I bought the 1996 Prizm LSI I'm dailying now for $850. It needs a few things like brake pads and some trim, but otherwise in perfect condition (minus paint and whatnot, but mechanically it's sound). Look on craiglist in your loca area EVERY day at the new listings, because the good deals go quickly. I saw my car posted one day and I bought it the next. That's how I got my car for so cheap.

I can't believe more people haven't backed up the Miata idea. They're cheap, great to drive, economical, and reliable. No shortage of aftermarket, either.
