Almost there...

Today found the courage to try the Le Mans TT. Although the track is legendary & fun to drive, it's still hard to master especially in a GR car.

Managed to lower my PB to 3:12:024 after many invalidated laps. I never used to restart & continue with such laps because it's so important to build a good rhythm. My Optimal is still more than a second away (at one time there was a difference of 2 seconds between my PB and Optimal). The 1st sector is where I'm still quite cautious & the last double chicane.

P.S. - I drove all this laps with A/T as it'll be too bothersome for me to upshift & downshift whilst driving the GR010 through the middle narrow sector turns. I believe my Silver time will hold which I'm happy & satisfied with.

Short on lapping time this week, and was both excited and slightly nervous about the new Le Mans TT. I love Le Mans, the track, the history, the legendary 24 hour race but on the flip side I'm pants at it, so afraid of the many stupid penalty areas I often tip toe too much around the track, feeling like pushing it will just render another lap in the red and then the inevitable restart.

Joyed I was then to find it's GR1, these things stick to the track like poo to a puppies bottom, right? Well most do, but not the fastest car...

I tried the Hyundai (really nice in the corners, a little underpowered on the straights and kept trying to kill me under braking into Arnage) I tried the old Mazda and Nissan, both a bit too heavyweight in the corners, tried the Audi- not got the pace, tried the Mazda, great engine note but hit's the limiter and maxes out 3-4 times on Mulsanne. So after these tests I went for the boring old Meta car, the GR010 which is frankly a royal pain in the ass and exactly what makes me teeter around a track like Le Mans. It understeers for England, or Japan, or the whole cosmos at this rate; why won't the damn thing turn? You brake early, it doesn't turn, you lift off early, it doesn't turn, you think you've mastered the entry to a corner- it doesn't turn, and then it has the audacity, when you get on the power, to turn into a BRZ drift car.

You can perhaps tell by this point that I don't like the car, it's the fastest, sure, but it's also really annoying, for me at least. This is coming off the back of countless invalid laps and about 300 miles of driving, BECAUSE IT WON'T TURN.

All that said, I'm in Gold, I don't really wanna go back (well, not in the Toyota) but fear I may have to

For the next few days I'll be focusing on the other TTs, where the cars, you know, turn.

Decided to try the Toyota again at Le Mans… as my learned friend above notes, the Hyundai can be a bit of a handful under braking in a couple of corners, whereas the Toyota is much more stable. Conversely, it’s harder to get the power down in the GR010, so I had to undo a few Hyundai habits. Picked up another 3-4 tenths to get under 3:09!

Optimal splits suggest there’s more in the tank, so will give it another run next weekend

You are making some serious progression there bud!, well done!

Got some improvements at Le Mans today dropping to a 3:07.575 and yeah, I do not think the sub 3:07 is going to be possible with a controller. The reason being is those last few sequences of turns after the Porsche curves where on a controller you lose a lot of time as it isn't possible to carry the same speed as a wheel through those turns due to an issue with controller in this game when it comes to curbs. But that aside, this time feels good but unfortunately I'm not going to be able to make any more improvements this week as I'm going to be busy so no time trialling until I guess Thursday when the new one starts but if I had put a bit more time into this, I can see maybe a .4 or a .3 but nothing else below that.

Keep going!! Maybe you'll get to your goal by tomorrow evening. Just keep running laps and take some breaks inbetween if you have to.

@TheNormsk Yikes! No it's not safe. Maybe the next day or two you can try to clock a time in the low 3'10.000's? And you should be safe. Le Mans is not a track for the faint of heart. Meaning that most people wouldn't want to continue to push to beat their time since it's a long track with complexity. Bronze would be manageable for beginners who are new to the game. Good luck!

Very fast time indeed. Congratulations!

Can you explain a bit more what you mean "issue... controler... curbs", thanks.

So, with controller there is this problem when you try to go over curbs, the tires kind of lock in place and stops the car from turning in. I believe this also was a problem in GT Sport and it still seems to be a problem in this game too. This is not the case with wheel however and this gives controller a big disadvantage on tracks like Le Mans where going over the curbs at the last few turns is the beneficial line to take for a faster exit but it does not work so you have to slow down more which loses lots of time. This was also a problem a while back at Kyoto Reverse with the Bugatti VGT (Gr.1) if you remember that time trial and it was also a problem with the Red Bull X2019 at Road Atlanta. These are the main two I can remember but I think there was some others too.

Hi fellas

Sorry I haven’t been able to catch up with the thread, life is busy and not particularly going well right now so chances are limited when it comes to GT7 and GTP! A shame! Back to work tonight and probably my last chance in Tokyo, I really like this one even though I don’t like these Tokyo tracks much.. there’s some really nice precise car control and balance here and I’d love to keep going.

Some improvement so I might be able to keep my streak going of getting top 100 in every trial I’ve attempted (not sure how many trials it’s been but I feel like it’s been a good 6-7 months now..!)

I was really getting into a rhythm today but you’ve got to call it quits sometime! Praying it holds for Gold

So today I tried the LeMans TT again after my Daily Races stint and managed miraculously wth the GENESIS X VGT concept thingy, despite it a being a real understeery 4WD car, to get a good silver time!

If I can just tame this beast, acceleration is good, but cornering a bit of a 'mare!!

Tried another 10 or so laps with the GR010 with the goal to go under 3:13 (with my best time being 3:13.276). My optimal is now 3:12.4, too bad I didn't have any truly valid laps :D Goal is now getting under 3:12, don't see any chance for gold - not sure when I give up the 3:12.xxx and go back to lapping with the 962 and C9 though :)

Long time no see everyone!

I'm always tempted by the big tracks, the season is right and I have never before managed to gold TT at La Sarthe with the gr.1 car, so the challenge is on.

It's only day 1, but I managed to dip into 3% bracket... just barely.

Satisfied with this one (albeit the lap wasn't without mistakes).
I will definitely try to work out a safer margin in the coming days...

This car is soo much easier to drive than the R92CP. It has way more front end grip so you can attack the numerous high speed corners with far more confidence. I love Le Mans as much as Imola and Bathurst because there's a genuine challenge to it with a bunch of quirks you have to be aware of to get a good lap. I should know as I've walked on this hallowed ground.

I want to go back because the race itself in 2010 was pretty boring. Audi dominated with a 1-2-3 finish and half the GT1 field retired. The most competitive class that year was GT2, with the class winning Porsche putting down more laps than the GT1 winning Saleen S7R run by Labre Competition. Who knows what this year's race has in store.

While (almost) everybody is talking of 'burnout' - not me, not yet :D
During the last 3 days i did about 1500 Km at Le Mans! I really love that one! And i even like the GR010, it's very predictable.

The 1st 2 days i spent most of the time finding a faster, safer way to survive sector 1 and 'Tertre Rouge'.
In those 2 sectors alone i found 0,7 seconds! But it's very hard to replicate those sector times. Usualy i'm good at one and rubbish in the other. :sly:

Yesterday i turned the sector time display off and just drove. That let to more consistant lap times. But i still got at least one sector where i bin the lap. Although optimals show i can do good 3:09 laps

i'm still stuck in 3:10

And there's a new GTP member at my friends list. Yesterday afternoon he was in front of me with a bit more than a tenth. But with my best german precision i changed that :D

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!?!?!? fight mode on!!! my optimal times are 3.09.low but I cannot nail it in one lap
I will try again this evening

Awesome to see all the progress here and just pushing against our own boundaries. Genuinely cool to see 🔥🔥

Some bad news/good news. I ended up twisting my right ankle over the weekend. Definitely one of those freak things - was carrying my son at the park, stepped off a curb and just landed in a gap where two bits of pavement didn’t match up. I went down immediately; He landed on me so he’s fine 😀 With the level of pain, I thought for sure I had broken my ankle but x-rays indicate no fracture. I’m lucky, although hitting the accelerator (both in real car and in sim) isn’t do-able until it heals a bit more. Unfortunately may need to sit out a few time trials to let it rest and heal. A chance I’ll show up with some pad laps if I can get the hang of it! I’ll be back when I’m off the injured reserve 😃 @Gorefast my revenge will have to wait 😝

Get well soon! That's not the way I want to dominate you... 🤣 Maybe you can use this forced pausing to create some liveries because that's when a pad is better than a wheel... Best wishes!

Sorry to hear about your ankle Fluffy. Best wishes 👍

Finally got an hour to spend on Tokyo today, and though my true love is the BMW (I love BMWs) I caved in, picked up the Supra, decked out in one of my Wipeout-themed liveries and set about the walls streets of Tokyo. 9 laps in and I'd shaved 6 tenths off my BMW time, would have been more but couldn't stick the 2 laps where I was a couple of tenths up because I think my car has magnets in it which are drawn to the walls!

Will try to get on again before it ends but have really enjoyed that track.
