Just curious as to what kind of times you guys can get in a stock vehicle with all driving aids off. Here's what I've been getting....

M3 CSL - 7'44.785
RUF CTR2 - 7'41.540
Zonda 7.3 - 7'22.414
Jaguar XJ220 - 7'38.906

Just like to see how these compare to the times of you pros :)

lol, I got something like 50 mins. in the Daimler Moter Wagen( ). seriously, I did a 8.53.810 in a completely stock '95 Miata version I or w/e(the one that is automatically ready in arcade mode). it was completely stock with Medium sport tires.

rock.

*long time no post*

Interesting this thread is...Could be more interesting if 'Luxury' tyres had to be used ;)

7.08 with Zonda 7.0 S ( S2 tyres )
7.49 with 1000 km driven '04 BMW M3 ( S2 tyres )
7.26 with M3 CSL ( S2 tyres )
7.42 with Lotus Esprit V8 ( S2 )
7.55 with Impreza STi Prodrive '01 (S2)

I wonder why nobody else is posting here.
Times for stock cars over the 'ring would be a really good way to compare
driving skills in general, as stock cars make it so much more challenging because of the relative lack of grip. Come on guys, let's get some comparing going on here!

...and can we do it with realistic tires like N2 or N3, not with those arcade-like S2 or S3?

It will be even more challenging... :)

Are you going in the Arcade-mode Time-trial or the Simulation mode Practice?

I dont see how anyone can enjoy driving very slow cars around tracks. Its fustratingly slow and there is not much skill in it. If anyone has a reason why they like driving these cars please enlighten me.

Not taking a stab at daan or anyone else who likes to drive underpowered cars, its just my opinion 👍

They do it as a joke and a waste of time..you see some of us (not me ;)) play this game atleast 6hrs a day..maybe more..and we need to..you know..spice things up a little. :)

This is never a waste of time when you have fun...

Stock car, DFP, N3 (Road) tires, Arcade mode - Time trial:

BMW M3 CSL : 07'57.002
BMW M3 stock : 08'06.621
BMW 2002 Turbo 73' : 09'09.988

I got 8:14.702 with a stock 350Z GT4 limited edition. is that a good time?? :boggled: :odd:

Also i have got a few other cars i would like to try on the ring but they have had oil changes. Does that still count as stock?

Anything less than 200 hp on a car weighing 1200 kg or more is too slow for fun on the ring.
But try the BMW M3 range, and I can bet you are seriously ill if you find driving it boring!

The difference in doing hot laps with relatively quick cars as opposed to ultra-quick cars is this:

With a 350 hp M3 you really need to optimize every corner, find the best possible braking points and know when to induce some tail slide to get a good angle for the next apex. Plus hug the corner strips carefully.

With an LMP or similar missile-fast car, it's much more just about reflexes and keeping the beast on tarmac. It's a challenge too, of course, but it's much less tactile
and the challenge is less about skill, it's more about keeping it all together, which
would never be the case in a proper RL race.

Oil changes are generally OK, but you should be able to get that time below 8 minutes with enough practice. It's not a bad time, but with some 50-100 laps more practicing on the 'ring on any multitude of cars will open whole new horizons for you. And boy will it be worth it! 'Ring is pure heaven when you know how to tackle it :dopey:

Tried it and made 8:11.390 with 2 mistakes, so It's not a helluva good time, but It ain't bad either.

And I'm now down at 5:32 with the F1, stock (offcourse since yoy can't mod it), tweaked the susp higher and softer and the tranny wider though.

Thanks thats just what i wanted to know so next time i will push harder.
I didnt realise how much fun it was to drive a stock car round the ring without driver aids. It keeps you on your toes because of the uneven and bumpy ground

Too true.......... i love the ring!

Yeah, I know. I find it most challenging to drive stock, and win! 'course there are some races that can't be won stock, but hten you just tune a little, not go all the way. Just see my signature for my thread of stock car challenge.

I have done some fun driving yesterday and this is what I have:

All runs made on DS2 (AT) clean to OLR standards:

N1 tyres, all stock without Oil change

Fiat Panda Super i.e.'90 - 12'37.512 (40HP) - that time is taken from my secdond lap on Nurb with that car and there was oil problem all the time :) getting 4th gear was little bit difficult :P
Mercedes CLK 55AMG '00 - 9'06.796 (347 HP DA 10,4,4)

I also tried with Shelby GT350 '65 but culdnt get clean lap yet :/ - will try today

Hopefully just getting an oil change will still consider it stock..

Toyota WiLL VS '01 - 9'34.215
Nissan SILVIA K's (S13) '88 - 8'57.654

I'm all about driving stock cars around the ring. It's just about all I do with the game these days.

Is anyone posting here also a member of gamefaqs.com?

Their GT4 board has a "Nurburgring Diary" thread, in which every week a car is nominated to be driven stock around the ring, and everyone compares their times, as well as sharing their favorite 'Ring rides, whether for their performance or for their value (low price/high performance).

Should we start something like that here?

No oil change this time...

RUF RGT '00 - 7'54.409
Audi A4 Touring Car '04 - 6'43.979
