Tips for Gran Turimso World Championship? What car did you use 1st time?

Ok, so I haven’t had the game real long and have just been pounding A-spec and not much else. Even though all the tiers are unlocked now, I’m still just getting to the Gran Turismo World Championship (Last event in Professional)


My Scuderia is nearly tuned to how I want it and my knowledge and familiarity of all the tracks individually is getting pretty good.
(The Green Hell especially, I’m now able to place 2nd in the GTWC using DS3… may not seem that impressive, but I make no claims to any awesome ability so it's still good to me lol :p )

Im sure if you all cast your mind back to this point in the game, it would have most likely been a pretty significant challenge at the time.


So I’m at the point where I reckon I can tackle the championship as a series – and damn I’m dying to win this one.

What were everyone else’s experiences with their first time attempting this series?
What car did you first use to complete this?

My car of choice would usually be my fully modded and tuned 135tii, though the lack of downforce is killing me on these high-speed tracks.
^ Theres a quick tip for anyone else in this position lol

I think I beat that event with a far overpowered LP-670 SuperVeloce. But that was in November `10, so I'm really not 100% on that one.
 
I used the calsonic GT-R from memory and walked it.
 
If thats the race im thinking of i used a fully tuned Camaro, non RM, it kept obliterating its tires it was annoying, thankfully since then ive learned a thing or two about suspension tuning and have since superseded (but not sold) that Camaro with many other proper race cars
 
Think I used the 458 for that.. not positive though.
 
I used my GT-R GT500 Stealth and did quite well.
 
I used the ZR1 Fully modded, in november i ran across a thread that basically noted how that one car could get you through most of the game.
 
Mazda Furai won from the B-spec roadster race 👍
 
I won the GT World Championship with ease using the Furai Concept. As mentioned above, you can get it by winning the B-Spec Roadster Cup.
 
I won it with an X2010, which you're more than welcome to borrow! 👍
 
I think i used the Zonda R on this one.
 
First time through, I used a Ferrari 458. It had racing tyres on so the race was easy.

Since then, I have used a Spoon Civic to see if I could beat the Nordschleife race with it. I did, the car is very easy to drive as it is very light, but it lacks power. It doesn't matter though as the AI take the corners too slowly.
 
I did it with my Tommykaira ZZII... :) Pretty easy win if you ask me ;)

Great feedback guys... just cracked my best lap in my mildly tuned Scuderia of 7:12:xx... may not be super impressive, but as I said first up, I make no claims to any sort of awesome ability lol - im stoked just to have cracked this time.

Finally getting to know this track inside out...
 
Fully tuned Nissan GT-R SpecV '09. If I were to do it again I'd use one of the aftermarket tuned cars like the Super GT RX-7 or 380RS Super Leggera.

I'm thinking I used a zr-1 RM'd which is an awesome awesome car to have in my opinion.
 
I used a fully tuned Gallardo (With Sports Soft) and won almost all of the races in 1st place.

Same here (Nov.), beat it in a fully tuned Gallardo that I used for the Gallardo cup(?).
 
^^Probably. I didn't know about the Trofeo Gallardo (that's Gallardo Trophy) event until after I bought the Murc SV. That was the second blunder I made. The first was max tuning a Maserati GranTurismo without realizing it would be a prize car. At that point I realized that I needed a GTP account so I'd stop wasting my hard-earned credits!
 
Really wish PD would put more car restrictions on A-spec and B-spec racing. Using a X2010 or Furai Concept, are you kidding me? To each their own I guess :lol:

Yeah I reckon that would be a pretty good addition.... nothing too harsh though... maybe adjustable depending on a difficulty setting?

Different difficulty settings and their restrictions could be the difference between things like restricting to Sport tires or allowing any tire type. Or any other parameters for that matter...
 
Well I hate to start up the Forza 3 vs GT 5 debate which I'm definately not trying but I really do like Forza's class system. It gets you to actually try some of those crappy cars sitting at the bottom of your garage pile. When you have a 1000 cars in the game it'd be nice to actually use a wider variety of them. I know some people complain about having to buy a super expensive car for every race but that wouldn't be so as you'd only be allowed cheap cars in the beginner series and so on.

I'd also hate for you to do that. It has nothing to do with the GT World Championship event. Try to stay on topic, there's a GTP Forum for Forza if you want to talk about that game.
 
I won the championship using a fully-tuned R34 Skyline V-spec from the new dealership the first time I attempted. It really isn't all that hard, as any standard supercar/sports car with the right mods can let you walk away with it.
