tips on driving manual

Ive just started driving as manual. Using a ds3. Finding I have better control over the car when cornering but also finding it hard to know when to shift. Ive been shifting whn I red line but I keep leaving it too late. Does it make any difference when I shift? Ie 8000 instead of 9000?

A good thread here ---> When to shift read all the way through as it also talks about power bands which are an important factor in deciding when to shift. There is no single answer as each car will differ but hopefully the tips in that thread will help you.

I always listen to the revs, problem I've found is when you're alongside another car you can't always HEAR them... shame you can't turn down the other cars like you can with forza.
