Is there any relation between tire width and sidewalls size to grip in the game.

Example: the 69 RM z28 can be equipped with massive rear tires but does it have a different grip level when you put the low profile rubbers on it.

The tallness of a tire sidewalls only affect the rigidity of said tire. The thing is that GT5 does not seem to have tire physics. Which means that there are no difference between low and tall profile tires.

Low profile tyres ? Did'nt know there was such a thing. Different compounds yes, but not different profiles.

There is, however, a noticeable difference between cars that have skinny tires and those which have wide tires. Those with skinny tires are permanently handicapped in grip in comparison, even after tuning up their suspensions to competitive levels and installing the best tires.

I don't know about sidewall rigidity and tire/rim inertia (or differences between traditional and tubeless tires), but I guess that the details are not simulated. Overall I agree that tire physics in GT5 are mediocre at best (if they were nonexistant, basic car handling characteristics could not be recreated).

Profile is the depth/height of the sidewalls, so;

165/65/R13 refers to a 165 tire width with a 65 profile, is a radial tire and is for a 13 inch wheel.
195/45/R15 refers to a 195 width with with a 45 profile, is a radial tire and is for a 15 inch wheel.

So the 65 is bigger than a 45; most people lower the profile when they fit bigger wheels, so the balance of the car, the gearing and the speedo of the car aren't out, and so that they fit.

Yea thanks for replying to him before me i would have not been so nice.

its a shame they haven't modelled the tyres probably as some of the cars would benefit with the cross-ply tyres due them being more rigid though i expect they'll be better in GT6

Big difference between grip of small wheels and tyres and big wheels and tyres.
Which makes small lower power cars tuned up to high power or PP uncompetitive.
