Anyone else hoping for the inclusion of tire marks on the road in GT5 and any future release of GTHD? Most other racing games, GT Legends, NFS, etc. have skid marks on the road. It's a shame that GT has never implemented these, especially now that there is actually a recognized drift mode.

I know it's not a big one, but i love a nice long drift with some solid 11's left on the road, darker or lighter according to the type of traction loss and speed of the wheels. It is also great being able to see other players drift style through the skid pattern left on the road, handbrake application, understeer, neutral 4 wheel drifts etc.

What do you think?

It is pretty obvious that it will be implemented in the final game, along with the cockpit views (atleast i think) it would be foolish not too.

Well to be honest really this would be the same as them putting in reverse lights to me. I don't really care where ive been, just where im going. Sure it would be nice for realism's sake but if it takes away from the develpers doing other things like weather and such then no i would rather have other things in.

Tire marks aren't that hard to do. That was in Forza 1. Keep in mind that a lot of things were whacked out simply because the PS2 is a fairly primitive, limited console. They didn't even have analog brakes for the bots. Also keep in mind that the GT HD demo is a very early build, and they still have graphic touches to add, especially to the world they built.

I'm curious as to what goodies we're going to get with our much more powerful PS3.

tire marks are actualy very very helpfull during a race. they help you to figure out braking points if you dont know the track, or to get an idea of how early everyone else is braking. also, they help in seeing the race line on some corners.
tire marks also warn of dangerous areas on the track where you are more prone to spinning out, or where an accident/spinout has occured.

If it's your first time going through a track, then your tire marks aren't going to help you at all, and it's likely that you may have crashed into a CPU racer, and the tracks may be mis-leading. Ultimately, learning how lines work and experience are infinately more rewarding, and useful, than any amount of tire marks can ever be.

i've driven a track for the 1st time and used tire marks to help find braking zones. and so has Michael Schumacher irl.

Of course you have to learn the raceline and braking points with seat time. but IRL racecar drivers try and take in as much usefull information as possible. There are many things missing from the racing experience in gt4 that are present in some simulators for the pc.

i like the idea of tire marks, it'll really make things a bit more realistic so if you do this youll have some pretty sweet tiremarks

yeah, its pretty cool to see lil puffs of smoke when people lock up their tires in openwheelers :D
