Tire Temp Inconsistencies?

Hey Everyone!

Yesterday evening i downloaded one of them iOS apps (I think it was called Vision) that displays tire info, lap time, etc. I completed the Weekly Race at Spa while keeping an eye on the tire behavior. The game seemed to my untrained eye to do a decent job of representing what I'd expect. When my inputs were smooth, the tires stayed at an optimal temp. When I was pushing for a faster lap, my front tires were pretty warm as a result. Etc. Etc.

However, I switched over to the Power Pack and ran a practice session with a C6 Corvette. In the Power Pack practice session, the tires weren't fluctuating at all. When I exited pit, the tires were at an optimal temp (green) but no matter how hard I pushed, the tire would increase by a degree or two and immediately go back to the baseline temp from when I exited the pit lane.

I found that a bit weird, so I returned to the pits and my tires were swamped out. They were cold and I thought "great, now I can see what the warming process is like during an out lap" but I ran into the same issue. The tires would not keep temperature. Even if I did a burnout the tires would spike in temperature but immediately return to the cold (blue) state.

I'm pretty sure this is something that many of you have noticed before but does anyone have an explanation for why this is the case? I've been wanting tire temps to be reflected in the UI but with how unfinished/broken/inconsistent it is, I see why they haven't done it yet.

As someone who has largely enjoyed the Power Pack (while acknowledging it's shortcomings), I'd love for tire management to become a more integral part of the racing experience.

GT is all about being accessible, while still maintaining some complexity.

Game is already complex enough without having to micromanage tire temps. We do have to manage, but more in a macro level as you mentioned.

If they change this to micro level, it will get too complex, and will brake the "accessible" part. Specially if you consider most Sims that micro tire temps, have also setups and tire pressure to help with managing this. Those are definitely not "accessible".

GT introducing micro management of tire temps, setups, tire pressure and so on, would move away half of its player base. And it won't gain it back by stealing players from ACC and iRacing, as they have different reasons to play those games.

Just by having the tire temps on screen like lots of players ask, will already move aways lots of players, as they will think they will have to manage tire temps. And will fuel lots of haters by exposing how simple the current model is.

So, there is a reason for the tire temp model to be the way it is. There is a reason for not having tire temps explicitly. And I agree 100% with PD on those.

(Let the "poo"s reactions from tire temp lovers beging)

I don't have any answers but I will give my two cents

The fact that the tyre temps are calculated but not visible within the game yet can be accessed through an app is the most cooked game design decision ever

Model it and have it visible in-game, or don't model it at all.

You either didn’t read what I wrote or you chose to ignore everything I stated except for the very last sentence. Instead, you wasted your time talking about your philosophical belief about what GT7 is, or should be. You prefer GT be simcade and that’s perfectly fine, I don’t care lol.

As it pertains to the topic of the thread, I’m seemingly noticing inconsistencies in the tire modeling from car to car, or track to track. If you’ve used any of the apps that allow you to monitor the temps and have something to add, I’m all ears.

If what I’m noticing is accurate (I’m probably wrong) maybe they haven’t made it visible yet because it’s not fully implemented. It’s just so weird that in some races, the tires retain heat and in others they seemingly don’t.
